    I love persimmons! We have a fuyu ree in our yard and we get dozens. I preserve half of them. I chop up into chunks and freeze in silicon gallon ziplocks. I also slice thinly with a mandoline and then dehydrate till very dry and store in wide mouth mason jars. They are delicious added to soy yogurt, granola, oats, granola.

    • @NatalieMatthewsFitVeganChef
      @NatalieMatthewsFitVeganChef  Месяц назад +1

      It depends on the type of activity and the goal. For running, I aim for at least 45 minutes in Zone 2. Most of my Zone 2 sessions are on the bike, and those tend to be longer, as this is part of my current aerobic build phase 💪🏽. I also have three other running sessions each week, but those are not at Zone 2. During this time, I’ve scaled back my strength sessions slightly but still do enough to maintain my muscle mass. My strength is solid, but cardio is my weakness, so I’m focusing on that right now. I’ve found this approach allows me to recover faster between sessions.

    Is that firm tofu inside of a hero bread? I eat tofu and i've never done that before. Tofu can be made into many different things. But mostly i just use it as quick protein with oatmeal or rice. House foods makes one of the best tasting firm tofus i've had. it's super moist which makes it perfect for mapo tofu.

    I tried a persimmon for the first time yesterday. After one bite the entire inside of my mouth felt like it had peach fuzz. The fruit tasted good, but I did not like the waxy feeling afterward. And I peeled it. What am I doing wrong? (It was not an allergy- it went away as soon as I washed my mouth with water.) Funny that you talked about persimmon in your video.

    • @ayidas

      Yes, anyone who has tried a persimmon has probably had this experience. The trick is, they have to be riper than you think. They should actually be a little soft to the touch, like a ripe avocado. The unripe ones will dry your mouth out completely 😝

    • @NatalieMatthewsFitVeganChef
      @NatalieMatthewsFitVeganChef  Месяц назад +1

      Yes and yes! I made this amazing pesto-like spread for my sandwich addiction, lol 😂.
      I sautéed about 200g of spinach and drained the excess water. Then, I processed a bunch of basil, garlic, salt, onion powder, and about 1 tablespoon of nutritional yeast to make a “pesto”. I added the cooked spinach, the juice of one lemon, and 7g of agave to the mix and processed it all together. I eyeballed most of it.

    • @NatalieMatthewsFitVeganChef
      @NatalieMatthewsFitVeganChef  22 дня назад

      You can definitely get by with less protein depending on your goals. My goals are very specific, as you mentioned. I’m constantly pushing my muscles to their limits, so it’s crucial for me to focus on replenishing, recovering, and maintaining muscle mass. That’s why I consume this amount of protein, it aligns with my specific needs.
      For most people, aiming for 0.75 grams of protein per pound of lean body weight is usually sufficient.
