I've tried a lot of packs but keep coming back to my Osprey Raptor 14, which thanks to all the well- thought out pockets holds everything I need and is slim enough that it basically disappears on my back. Can't recommend it enough.
Great review thank you! I bough this pack myself after watching. I thoroughly enjoy it. Perfect day pack. It has a lot of thought and technology out into it. I bought the blue one. It even looks great.
Great! I think you will totally enjoy it. We love ours. We did a 8 mile hike with them yesterday and still have been the best pack for over a year now! Thank you for watching!
I really appreciate this review because I was shopping for your girlfriends purple pack ALL DAY but Amazon could only give me your blue one quickly. So it was double helpful!
Your review is well done. Thanks. Did you notice the two lower compression straps on the sides about the left & right side pockets (aka water bottle pockets)? These straps can be adjusted to go either on the outside/around the pocket to help hold items in the pocket, or they can go inside the pocket to help compress the main compartment. Look for the small holes in the pockets to insert or pull out the strap. It looks like your left strap was outside/around the pocket while your right one was inside the pocket. I think this is the factory setup. If you like it that way, great. Just know you have options on both sides as the need arises.
Thanks for the review. I was looking for info on the Sirrus 24 to compare with the Skimmer 28. I ended out going with the Skimmer for the extra space (my 11 year old hikes with me and she carries minimal gear in her small walmart pack, so mom gets the heavier load). We are planning on some weekend trips in the Spring so I'll eventually get a bigger pack for those trips and let her carry the Skimmer on those.
well thanks for the video. Its exactly what I was looking for and had my yearly REI $$ ready for the decision. I needed a day pack for layers and food for those longer days and this one looks great.
Thanks, good review. I like that you have a year under your belt (or on your back) with these, using them exactly like I would. I want to carry my camera gear and a small ham radio. I have a micro43 setup, but adding the radio, which is about the size of a canon 70-200 would bring me back into DSLR sizing.
Thanks for a good review me and my wife is retired and I bought these same backpacks they coming in the mail soon so thanks for sharing and giving your honest opinions good show mate.
Thanks for the great review! Appreciate the real life experience after you've been using them for a year. Can the hip pockets fit a phone? Like a standard iPhone 11/12 size phone?
...but you didn't do any sound level checks with the built in whistle (sternum strap clip). LOL. I purchased the Stratus 24 for a trip and was watching to see someone else's use, since I have not used it yet. Thanks for the video.
which is more comfortable, the sirrus or the tempest? I am looking for a comfortable and breathable hiking backpack for several hours, especially for hiking for several hours a day and the osprey daylite plus is not worth it, I need another backpack ... I usually carry 4 kilograms of weight at most ...
Great review, I also want to buy stratos 24 , but I’m scared a little its gonna be to small for one day in my polish Tatra mountains , anyway thanks for review :)
Thanks for the great information. I've been researching some daypacks and am thinking of gifting this pack to my daughter. She is 5'9". May I ask how tall the female is in your video? Thank you!
Thank you for watching! So Rachael is 5"8" so she would be for sure in the same range and she loves hers. Just be cautious that you need to take torso length in consideration also. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Great video, thanks! Do you happen to know if there is a maximum size hydration bladder that will fit in the pocket? I have a 3 liter bladder and i'm wondering if it will fit.
I noticed you didnt mention the load lifter straps. Does yours not have them? I have a Sirrus and that is one of my favorite parts (plus the velcro adjustment of the torso length)
Your exactly right Jennifer. You found the two things I missed mentioning in this review. Load lifters and torso adjustment are big parts of preventing a sore back from your pack. Thanks for the comment!
Can you show how to attach the poles or ice axe? There is only one loop. One loop for 2 poles? I am on,y 5’ and 100 lbs. 2 poles in one loop with make me lopsided. Nope, not for me, never buying pack with just one loop. Poor design.
What day pack works well for you?
Just bought one to replace my 15 year old pack. Thanks for the video!
I don’t think you will be disappointed! It’s a great pack! Thank you for watching!!!

@@ThexImperfectionist That's a great one too. Thank you for watching!
I just got the Sirrrus for an upcoming field work season! Excited to graduate from college laptop bag to a proper hiking pack.
Ha! That’s great! Well you have made a great pick! We love ours!

Glad you enjoyed Jess. Skimmer is a great choice also! Thanks for watching. Happy Hiking!

I don’t think you will be disappointed! And we just used our dividends too! :) thank you for watching!!!

Awesome! We love them!

It might fit but be tight 😬
it barley fits a pocket knife

No problem!

Thanks for watching! I’m sorry we don’t have any experience with the tempest. I do know it’s smaller.
This was so helpful!! Thank you! I bought one already but wasn’t sure of all of the features. Now I can’t wait to use it!
Awesome! So glad to help! We love the packs.
Great video! I have the Osprey Daylite 13L and I love it. I would also like to have something a little bigger for longer hikes. This might be the one!
They are great packs!
Great video, very informative!
Thanks for the review! Just picked one up today, so looking forward to putting some good miles on it. Subscriber #147 :)
That’s awesome! I think you will be happy. Let us know! And thank you so much for your support!
I have the sirrus and it's an amazing day pack. The little hammock pouch at the top is pretty annoying though. But I love my day pack.
Haha I can see why! They have been great packs for us. We are coming in on two years using them!
How do those hip belt pockets not get in the way of your arms? They do for me.
Great video! Great information. Thank you.
Of course, Glad we could help! Thank you for watching!
Great review, I also want to buy stratos 24 , but I’m scared a little its gonna be to small for one day in my polish Tatra mountains , anyway thanks for review :)
Thank you! We have done 12+ mile day hikes with ours and did well. Thank you for watching!

Would like to see how it fits on a woman. I bought the 24; have not used it yet but was curious about the shoulder straps
Sure DM on Instagram @southernhike thanks for watching!
Very well done, i like it, Only the music on the background is a little to present
👍🏻
Great review! Thanks!
No problem! Thank you for watching!
Great video, thanks! Do you happen to know if there is a maximum size hydration bladder that will fit in the pocket? I have a 3 liter bladder and i'm wondering if it will fit.
Thank you Michael! Based on what I read on the REI website 2 liters is the max.
Think it could hold a 36 oz Yeti Rambler fit on the side pockets?
Would be tight for sure!
does the bladder have a place to clip onto to prevent it from falling down ?
I’ll have to check but I think it’s tight pocket so it compresses the bag.

any wear and tear? loose stitching?
Two years in now and holding up great!

It's just a ice axe loop. They don't advertise it as for trekking poles.
Good info
So wait, you do carry your keys or you don’t? That confused me lol
Can you give me a time in the video? Make sure I clarify correctly lol
Need to see the women's fit on a person, up close. Lots of lumbar issues with women packs.
Totally understand! Reach out to us on Twitter or Instagram and we will DM pictures on the pack on Rachael! @SouthernHike
review? this is not review.
