I may have watched this a long time ago, but watched it today. I was a big lover of the ranger and druid classes way back in the days of the first few xpacs. With that said, I got so frustrated with my ranger (back then) that I straight up deleted him! I moved to druid, then took a long break from EQ from about 2003-08 or 09 "ish"...only to find that druids had really become something I didn't enjoy. So while I currently play a necro the most, my heart has always aligned with those 2 classes strongly. The necro is out of necessity, more than anything, as I am older and play as life permits. I've always been a casual player perfectly happy with "bazzar gear" as we said back in the day...nowadays that has gotten a lot harder to use so the need to be able to take down rares while only sporting "group gear" is the measuring stick I judge all classes I choose to play. So, currently, I play a Necro, BL, and Ranger...although I usually need to box a shaman with my Ranger if I'm in an area that has a rare spawn possibility. My Ranger can usually take down rares about 4-5 xpacs behind current content, but only if he at least has current T2 gear. I keep my current "rezzed" Ranger around for nostalgia and also when I just feel like Headshotting yard trash like crazy in hope of getting lucky on a chaseloot drop;> (P.S. It is possible to kill current rares in a ranger/shaman box combo...I just hate boxing and do it rarely) Rock on man!
Beastlord is my favorite. I play mostly solo, and 2box max. Beastlord offers me a decent tank, slows, tank heals, and dose all in one. If I want I can use a healer merc and go EZ mode with pet tanking. I can add in anything I want as a 2nd box, but tend to add a puller of some kind, or straight dps for AA grinding
The thing about a beast lord is it's such a strong class and synergizes beautifully with many other classes. The bard is the easiest to box. Shaman is also nice. Druid, necro, SK all work. The rogue would be a lot of DPS and you can basically get behind the mob and just tab over occasionally. Rogue can split and pull also. I'm with you. The only time I box three is when one is a bard. They are just that easy. And two is still More fun and about as effective for me.
I played a druid, cleric and rogue. We always used the druids for thorns, dots and for small fast heals, while the clerics were winding up their big heals, in a raid setting. I loved my druid otherwise. So much utility and quality of life. I loved being able to kite more powerful mobs. This was 20 years ago when it, and eq2 came out though
Great content! Still making these type of videos? Haven't found a better "current" content channel. Just returned after a twelve year hiatus and your videos have helped a ton.
Specialist means an an exceptional ability at something that deviates from an archetype. Paladin would be a specialist relative to a warrior. Not the other way around.
Great breakdown, really interested to hear your thoughts on the Druid and where they fit. I have came back to mine after 20 years lapse and found its 100% different and far less versatile then the class used to be.
I agree. The druid was a true multi purpose class with good capabilities in the early years. As EQ spread abilities out, it's jack of all trades became less valuable. I think it needs help in healing. Some unique druid only twist.
my Erudite Paladin did indeed kick much butt, with the shield of stalwart seas I had higher AC than most warriors in my guild....my HP was awful though...I did my best work as an off tank
Key is well-played. Paladin is a class that you have to be alert to play well. But I also think that's the class where I've seen players pull off some miraculous recoveries. I've play paladin, but I've never really locked down the class.
it is a really "sit and wait" for the puller kind of class but I had fun doing it and took charge most of the time, so it fits a niche role in groups. I am probably going to roll a dwarf pally when the new progression servers fire up
Which is sad because of what they were originally intended to be has diminished so much. They are a 90-10 watered down version of what they once were...
Really great information. I'm so out of touch with the other classes and this was great to get me to a baseline of what is going on with the game. You mentioned kind of in passing that SK's (and Zerkers) can output SDPS as well as Necromancers? Is that focusing on DPS while giving up tanking or is that just general game play? With no effort no AAs just normal play on CoV T1 Trash mobs I average 375k DPS for a standard 90 second mob. Is that the kind of numbers melee classes output on DPS? I am always blown away by the T3 SK when it is played by someone that knows the class. Also, for what it is worth as I watch all your videos, you might not be the "star" at all the classes but you are far and above most EQ players that I watch or have discussions in game. So while there might be some very high end/deep dive specific burns or setups on each class you might not have in your day to day tool kit I personally take your videos as being expert information.
It's SKs with a good weapon, max aas, in a group with bard and shaman against mobs dying fast, like 30 seconds or less. In those situations they can put out 300K dps and I have to work to keep up. Warriors do a ton too in those melee fav situations. The key is they don't really need to be in tank mode at the end of an expansion with best group gear. This isn't every tank, just the good ones. You'll notice when one joins your group if you run a parser. No bard though and their dps drops a bit. As for my info, I'm good at compiling publicly known info together and then testing it out. Plus, if there are secrets I know, I post them. But yeah, almost always, there are players who can push a class farther. Which is great.
Raiding sk tol era. My dps is around 300k with a two hander sustained. When i burn its around 700k for a minute every 10 minutes . I out dps all group geared casters except necros . Melee dps simulary geared is doing 500-600 not burning and over a million burning
You screwed up your list. Shaman belongs in all of the categories. They’re second to wizards for nukes. They’re second to necro for DoTs. Slow aggro plus shield bash makes an ogre shaman a solid tank. Shaman has straight heals and HoTs plus regen. Shaman is the Swiss Army knife of the game. And with alchemy, they can duplicate the necro mana conversion, the enchanter clarity line and the Druid damage shields. And all of their DoTs stack with every other class. Me and my best mate used to run shaman and necro. Just two of us could do more than full groups and never had to worry about mana or hit points. We used to ping-pong kite using DoT aggro.

Interesting video! I just returned to EQ after 20 years and play on P99, I've been sampling each class just to get a feel for them

Clerics stand to gain some crowd control powers to expand on what they already do. Imagine a root that applied a 15-second stun
I could not like a video fast enough!!! Thank you for your insight!!!
Thanks so much.

Something I would add... Enchanter bard and beastlord and to some extent ranger are the adps classes.. Classes that make group members better.

Awesome video! I wish someone would do a video of what Race goes better with each class. I can't find one on RUclips.

Paladin is the class that most often saves the group. They are great tanks and healers still.
@@Twelvestrings a well timed lay on hands not only saves the cleric but can easily sort out a panic situation if the CC gets harried

@@jrightly You'll never have a problem getting groups if you play a tank and take charge =) Roll dwarf roll!
I can’t wait to see some paladin and mage content.
enchanter is great for multbox if you're not trying to main a charm/kite but use them as utility/buffs.

Add a bard to ky group and i add 150k dps
always look forward to your vids
excellent breakdown
SK > Warrior , Shaman > Cleric for any grp content =)
True.
The World knows Druid is the best. No joke., Druid does it all and more.

Why did you stop?
My computer died over Christmas. Getting a new one in the next week or so. Friend is ordering parts and building it. Salvaging some parts.
nek-ruh-man-ser
Kneecromancer... never heard of it
Lol, one reason I stopped making videos, my pronunciation of words sucks.
Necro/Chanter to farm gear
Tank/healer to play in groups
Monk to pull
Rest you just twink out with gg gear
