My cat grew up in an abusive home and then almost died living in his litter box at the SPCA. Just for the record, you definitely can and it's fine if you do (esp with children in the household), but you _don't_ *HAVE* to use all of the more aggressive "forced exposure socialization techniques" for invasive touch/handling. Gentle exposure like a bit of touching or poking here and there and petting often is sufficient. You and your cat can be perfectly fine respecting eachothers' space, and they'll still let you pick them up and such when needed once they fully trust you, just not ragdoll them around or poke them everywhere. You're only teaching them to tolerate such things no matter how unpleasant, not necessarily enjoy them. Petting on the other hand is naturally enjoyable for most cats but some may be oversensitive to it, each cat is unique. A good way to tell if a cat wants pets or not is by offering your hand and seeing if they lean toward/rub against it, it's also a polite way to greet them. Meanwhile there are a few signs for when they don't, like snappy tail wags, getting tense, lowered ears and intense eyeing your hand.
Socialising is important but arguably yhe most important is Genetics (getting your cat from a good breeder) and whether you let your cat outside or not, soon as you let a cat outside, it begins to undomesticate and that’s when you get a cat that scratches more and and exhibits more wild animal behaviour like hunting, stalking, attacking
Saw it in the intro, but don't declaw your cats. If they get long enough to be a hazard, get them a scratching post before then to allow them to scratch. Declawing can provide so many health issues for your cat to where it is illegal in several states as it would be animal abuse
@@aaronsanders7694 declawing your cat is the act of getting rid of the first knuckle completely to prevent *any* claws from regrowing, Could you imagine living life without your first knuckle? Yes cats can lose claws, you could remove the claw itself but it will regrow back, the action of actual declawing is different. Trim and care for your darn cats or don’t own any at all.
@@aaronsanders7694depends, I trim my younger cats claws pretty often so they don’t accidentally scratch ppl because they aren’t to good at keeping them retracted still, older cats just use the scratch posts and I never have to trim theirs

Our cat is 5 years old. When he is in the right extra cuddly mood, we can pet his belly quite a lot. He'll be all stretched out on his back, belly up and we can pet his super soft belly fur many times. He's a mellow, affectionate cat in general but there's definitely times when he's especially affectionate. He has a PURRsonality so belly pets are on his terms, so we feel honored that he let's us do that even occasionally. He's usually interested in pets on his head and over his back like a normal cat but he does have extra cuddly occasions.
My two boys let me pet their tummies. One absolutely loves it!! The other only let me do it after he got used to it, and even then, he can get spicy if I bother him too much.
Nope there is a black cat she was scared of me sm and she stopped coming to my house after 1 week but later she started coming to my house and I would shower her with love and she started to trust and love me whenever I would come back from school she would be sitting on the street and as soon as she would see she would follow me to my house and we would play alot so yh cats need love and they will love you too
My cat was born in my living room, got her to the vet only once for castration, she was a bit violent at the beginning but now she is 14 years old, has no health problem, still run, fight and protect her territory as if she was 4. She even noticed when I left my parent's home and started meowing at my room's door. Now every time I get back home she dit quietly on my knees and that's a real pleasure to see that just letting her live her life makes her happy.
I did the paw-touching with my cats starting when they were a week old. It really does help! I have very few issues with nail trimming and they never get mad about it, maybe just a little squirmy if they’re not in the mood.
My cat is great with this, but she also came to us BRAVE at 11 weeks. Immediately went up her cat tree, went in her litter box, and rolled around showing us her tummy. We continued desensitization anyway, and have no problem doing any care. She even takes pills easily, just put them in her mouth and she swallows! Love my brave little lady who shows everyone (including the vet) her tummy
I found a sweet baby kitten living in my backyard. After months and months of slowly getting closer and feeding her, she is a love machine. She loves belly rubs, paw rubs, cheek and chin scratches, and only has one place she doesn't let anyone go near (obviously her bum lol)
I argued with my mother to get my cat (my cat was sick) and after we got her I didn't get to see her for a week or so while she recovered. When I finally did get to see her and play with her, she quickly became dubbed as my cat as we were never far apart. Now she doesn't hiss, growl, scratch me, or bite me unless on accident or when startled. She sleeps in my lap almost every night and licks my fingers and hands often. I didn't really do any of this with my cat when she was a kitten, and yet she has the patience of a saint when it comes to dealing with my shenanigans (dressing her up, petting her, holding her paws, holding her, etc.) Shoutout to Bean, my cat that I do not deserve
I have a cat that he lets me do almost anything to hom, he lets me rub his belly, play with his paws, hiold him like a baby, ANYTHING, he only lets me do this and it is adorable!
My mom recently adopted 3 cats from a rescue (originally she wanted to adopt 1) and one of the cats. Is a literal teddy bear. Everytime u lay down, he will come and fall asleep on you. And if not, he will guide ur hand to pet him. Its adorable.
most wild animals have very clear body language, so if they display that they're afraid of you, give them space. That act alone will make them trust you more. I do this all the time with wild animals. And since cats are mostly wild and barely domesticated, it works for them to
My cat was a stray rescue, i have no idea what his life was like before that but he was in rough shaped when they found him. Hes so so sweet and lets me touch him anywhere, we got him when he was 1 years old
We had our cat since she was 5 months old. Until that nothing is known, where she's from, her mom, nothing. We just found her in a box near the road. We did none of these (well, since she was quite older when we got her) and she fears only 2 things. Vacuum cleaner and the transportation box she goes into when we need to see a vet. She's now 14 years old, still behaves like the little kitten all those years back. Every single day when someone comes home she sprits in full speed towards the door and starts jumping onto your thighs welcoming you back home and then processds to bring all sorts of items to you waiting for the head scratches whenever she drops something at your feet. When the welcoming part is over? She starts running sideways and jump all over the place to make you play with her until she's almost out of breath. That's the part where you either lay down and she lays down onto your chest or lap, take an hour long nap and all of that is ended up with yelling next to her bowl until she gets some food. That's my daily routine for ... well, ever since we got her :^)
I wish I had been able to do this with my cat, but she was 6 years old and borderline feral by the time my family adopted her. She's 17-18 now and much more friendly than she was when we first brought her home, but there's still a lot of things that she won't let us do, such as not letting us hold her for more than 30 seconds.
For the last eleven years, I have loved and cared of a feral cat. Her name is Beauty Queen. She's a fluffy, Somali breed with dark chocolate undercoat with a jet black face, whiskers, eyes, nose, and coat. I'm still trying to coax her to let me pet her and have been unsuccessful at that. Thus far. However, she'll come close to get her treats, come in to eat, and seek shelter stay warm. She That was me around the house from time to time. I love it when she interacts. We're getting there slowly but surely. I am not giving up on my beauty queen. She's one of two feral babies found at 2-6 weeks old. Keep up the good work and info sharing on kitty interaction. Love & light, from Cat Mama.
I have no idea what or how but my cat is adopted and when I got him he immediately trusts me and loves me and isn't scared of much, whatever the shelter did, they are a genious.
I rescued a stray kitten, her eyes were completely crusted shut so for the first two weeks or so most of her human contact consisted of using a warm, damp washrag to loosen the crust on her eyes and get in the eye ointment. Now the only place she really likes to be rubbed is on her eyes. Anything else and she sees it as an attempt to play, but rubbing around the eyes will have her purring like a motorboat.
My mom picked up a stray and turned out she was pregnant. She is very trusting but doesn't like being picked up or held, but otherwise is very friendly. When she has her babies, my mom would pick them all up every day and hug, kiss and pick them up daily and the one she kept is now the chillest, most relaxed cat ever. The other ones found new homes but as far as we know they're also super gentle

I love your videos, they’re so wholesome
I cant explain how much joy these clip’s brought to me
Me encantó! Los gatos son vida, gracias 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓😻
I loved how she made her cat banana cat and sushi😂❤
Thank you know when i see my cat she wont kill me
I freaking love cats, they’re so cute!
"Their guard will lower" This is some wild shit when thinking about it the wrong way.
Bruh i cant that banana cat is too cute❤❤
Careful guys: you can't touch a cat during his first 2 weeks because they will lose the smell and the mother will not breastfeed them
Saw it in the intro, but don't declaw your cats. If they get long enough to be a hazard, get them a scratching post before then to allow them to scratch. Declawing can provide so many health issues for your cat to where it is illegal in several states as it would be animal abuse
The claws fall off and regrow rather often. No point at all in “trimming”.
@@aaronsanders7694 help what
@@aaronsanders7694 declawing your cat is the act of getting rid of the first knuckle completely to prevent *any* claws from regrowing, Could you imagine living life without your first knuckle? Yes cats can lose claws, you could remove the claw itself but it will regrow back, the action of actual declawing is different. Trim and care for your darn cats or don’t own any at all.
@@Autumn-od6wt lol. Don’t need to trim your cats claws how ridiculous.just need a scratcher and they’ll do it themselves.
@@aaronsanders7694depends, I trim my younger cats claws pretty often so they don’t accidentally scratch ppl because they aren’t to good at keeping them retracted still, older cats just use the scratch posts and I never have to trim theirs
My cat is already like a tean He's dramatic 🤣
They actually hate being picked up. Its like the equivalent of being locked up in a cell. So they are just coping. You read in things that aren’t there
People who dont have a cat and still watching
my cat who doesn't let me touch their paws:
I want to keep one but sadly I always travel here n there so it's kinda hard for me to bring them. But I will wanna own one soon❤❤❤
The last cat was just to cute❤
I want a pocket kitten NOW. And it must stay tiny and adorable FOREVER.
"specially during the first two months"
me, who adopted my cat at 3 months old: 💀
In some parts of the world it's illegal taking a cat from the mum before 3 months (rightfully)
"Rub their bellies"
Are you insane? Are you trying to get me killed?!
These people don't realize different cats have different boundaries
@@Cakemarvelous
Cats are like humans. Cats have their own PURRsonalities.
I have a 4 month kitten and he loves belly rubs it just depends on the cats boundaries
My two boys let me pet their tummies. One absolutely loves it!! The other only let me do it after he got used to it, and even then, he can get spicy if I bother him too much.
So basically gaslight the cat into loving you?
Exactly
that's what I was thinking too
Nope there is a black cat she was scared of me sm and she stopped coming to my house after 1 week but later she started coming to my house and I would shower her with love and she started to trust and love me whenever I would come back from school she would be sitting on the street and as soon as she would see she would follow me to my house and we would play alot so yh cats need love and they will love you too
My cat was born in my living room, got her to the vet only once for castration, she was a bit violent at the beginning but now she is 14 years old, has no health problem, still run, fight and protect her territory as if she was 4.
Summary: groom your cat at a young age like how my neighbor grooms me
bro 💀
actually yea that's kind of what this is
Sorry but stop dumping
@@nills2099 It's a joke my guy, he and everyone else in this reply section except you likes this humour
@@FelidaeEnjoyer sorry I thought they were being serious and I wanted to try to be hurtful but I'm in a better place now.
I love your channel!
I want a cat so badly!!!!😺
I lost a cat at 6 or 7 because of door opened and it ran away
The cat: you can only touch me if you get me FOOD
Me:BRO
4. Declaw it... Just kidding please don't kill me Aura😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I didn't really do any of this with my cat when she was a kitten, and yet she has the patience of a saint when it comes to dealing with my shenanigans (dressing her up, petting her, holding her paws, holding her, etc.) Shoutout to Bean, my cat that I do not deserve
my adult cat slowly started cuddling for the first time. he now adores belly rubs! no force just slow small affections at his pace.
I did this with my cat Sylvie and she is just a darling creature ❤❤❤
This is why I got a mama cat that had 3 baby kittens
I can’t even listen to what’s being said in the video because I’m too busy losing my mind on how CUTE THOSE KITTIES ARE OMFG
Hes so so sweet and lets me touch him anywhere, we got him when he was 1 years old
When I adopted my kitten at 12 weeks old.... I spent the first two to three months I had her hand feeding her wet food. She's such a sweetie 🥰
THE LITTLE KITTENS ARE SO CUTE😍😍😍😍😍
So beautiful ,pretty, cute and fluffy
We always cradled our cat when he was a baby, now, he loves being cradled in the mornings :)
Cute kittens 🥰
Always luv your tips even though I have no cats🥲
OHHH 😢 So Cute❤❤❤ I Want All this types of cat ❤❤❤
Awww, precious kitties
Cuteness in this video is insane 😻
I have no idea what or how but my cat is adopted and when I got him he immediately trusts me and loves me and isn't scared of much, whatever the shelter did, they are a genious.
I rescued a stray kitten, her eyes were completely crusted shut so for the first two weeks or so most of her human contact consisted of using a warm, damp washrag to loosen the crust on her eyes and get in the eye ointment. Now the only place she really likes to be rubbed is on her eyes. Anything else and she sees it as an attempt to play, but rubbing around the eyes will have her purring like a motorboat.
My cat hates it when I touch her paws. But belly rubs is a treat for her. She loves it so much I almost thought she's a dog in her past life.
I have 2 british short hair and they are so cute one of them is sinamen and one is grey and white and there names are bear and chilli😍
That is basically just psychologically training the cat to love you
One cute furball after another 😍 all of the cats in the clips are soooo cute
I did that and now my cat lets me do whatever I want with it and he's super affectionate :')
