1978 was a fine year for TV mainly due to ABC. I think the golden age of TV originally referred to the 1950s. Unsure what term the 1970s need, but it puts to shame anything on anywhere these days
Just watched this after watching the NBC 1978 fall preview. It's like night and day! Unlike NBC, almost every show is good, and even the movies are better. What was wrong with NBC that year?

Great video. Really brought back a lot of memories. I remember seeing the premiere of Battlestar Galactica ( I was about five at the time) but I don't know if I saw the whole thing since it was three hours long. I watched the show every week.
The only thing NBC had that kept the network a float was "Different Strokes", CHiPs", "Quincy", "Little House On The Prairie", "The Tonight Dhow with Johnny Carson", "The Midnight Special" & Saturday Night Live" with the original cast. Other than that NBC as a network was a joke back in 1978. ABC was the network for a then 10 year old kid like me.
The first season of happy Days was great . After the first season it turned into shit I remember watching the pilot In 1974 as a kid . Babysitting with Mary Lou Milligan Man oh man you got it made in the shade.pottsy sais to Richie in Arnolds 1974 I miss that narrator with the deep voice (he's not on ABC anymore) Loved (Mork and Mindy) RIP Robin Williams he is sadly missed I know life is hard for some of us but suicide is no answer. It's sad he's gone. Depression must have been too Hard for him. I miss this kind of TV I hate how tv is now all different Cable networks The pissing network The crap network The history network Tv has become crap now When happy Days did that Joanny love chachi bullshit That show was finished With me Gary Marshall F -ed that wonderful dhow up
Gary Marshall' Also screwed up welcome back kotter even Gabriel Kaplin said it himself. The first season with Debra lee Scott was great. (Hotsy Totsy) Afterwards it stunk Then Debra Lee Scott Got her own show Angie With Donna Pescoe Who was also the girlfriend Of john Travolta in Saturday Night Fever Before the one who danced With him in the movie Stephanie (couldn't stand her) She was ugly with a stuck up Attitude. I perfer Donna Pescoe

The premiere was shown over three weeks as one hour episodes. It was shown as a feature length movie in Canada.
A lot of great shows that year
taxi gave me dreams of moving to NYC and I did in my early 20s.and vegas was good too.Charlie's angels I loved.
Soap was the best show of 78
How could they lose? The NBC competition was PATHETIC that year... and CBS wasn't much better. 1978-79 was a bad year for the USA.
Barney Miller, Soap, Family, Battlestar Galactica... those were great shows!
The only thing NBC had that kept the network a float was "Different Strokes", CHiPs", "Quincy", "Little House On The Prairie", "The Tonight Dhow with Johnny Carson", "The Midnight Special" & Saturday Night Live" with the original cast. Stewart Teaze Every single show in 78 would kill what you have today.
NBC didn’t start having really solid prime time broadcasting until the early 1980s - it began to turn the corner with Diif’rent Strokes
@@blachubear You forgot "The Rockford Files".
4:04 hey what's happening
40 Yahrens ago. Battlestar Galactica premiered!!!!!!!!
Wow great shows, but those spinning circles give me a headache.
