Favourite band for yet another teenager, were (and still are one of) my favourite in 2013-14 finishing highschool. My best friends dad showed them to us. Elvis Costello too.
The boomtown rats were a mighty mighty rock band They were formed in 1976 or '77 Looking after n.o1 was their first song 🎵 I remember hearing this song when it was released back in '84 What an incredible song this is Bob geldof along with midge ure were the driving force behind the live aid concert in 1985 The boomtown rats should never have broke up 💔 They were a phenomenal rock band in the late 70s and into the mid 80s
If I remember right the rats did this early 84 who knew a few months later the flailing rats would be shaking the world with band aid and live aid. Great song very underrated
One of their later songs but archetipical Boom Town Rats. This a hit in the early 1980's, I think. It may not be as trendy to like the Boom Town Rats as other new wave acts such as the Undertones, Buzzcocks, the Stranglers & Blondie but they were up there with the best...
This reached number 50 ,I remember speaking to my first girlfriend on the phone, she had been in Woolworths looking at the weeks chart said it had not moved and the 2nd week at number 50. Devastated . They played it so much on Radio1 also.
I think it went 56 to 50 Paul, then down. But yep, I was devastated. I thought we would see the Rats back on TOTP which would have fired the song into the top 15 or so. The Elephant's Graveyard had no TOTP airplay and stalled at 26. It's amazing how much of a wider audience TOTP reached and the effect it could have on a single in those days.
@@markl8740 Yes your right Mark, I just looked 56 -50- 66 , maybe I was hopefully for top 40 then. and realised with the short climb it wasn't going to make it. Played the album to death and thought the other 3 singles were great too, the tour successful but it was the end.

Good video but the Rats time had come and gone by 1984.
You’re right Jack, nothing of theirs hit the top 30 after 1982’s House on Fire.
