Slow steps are lethal when used correctly. Luka routinely kills defenders with that move. It’s such an unorthodox pace when driving to the rim.

I know ppl will say JC’s Euro has a 0 step (starts at 2:22)… But I wish I genuinely understood the logic of why that’s not just traveling. If you slow the RUclips video to 0.25x speed in the settings, you can see exactly the point that he touches the ball with 2 hands. And if you count it’s 3 steps.

You are definitely right, he picked the ball up a little early which made it a travel. But @ahlias7659 is also right, it's damn near impossible to catch that at game speed, especially during a real game.
The logic is simple. Just pause video when he touches the ball with two hands (or palms it), dont watch it slow motion. Ask urself a question"does he a have foot on ground or in air?" Seems like he has left foot on ground, so then you continue counting steps from that point of. right foot step1, left foot step 2. If his foot would have been still in air, then there would be three steps.

As of now, Garland is one of the best guards in the whole NBA, and his playmaking is instrumental for the team. Keep working hard i think DG can be a fringe mvp contender and deffo an all nba guy.

JC's game is a bit koby/jordanesque where he initiates a lot of contact and plays through it. A lot of his attacks could probably get a foul call. Garland's game is a bit more point guardish. You can see he tries to get space and keeps his head up. This allows him to pass to open teammates. Who's the young guy? Whoever he is, he's getting a heck of an experience
Makes me wonder if he put in the work on the defensive end, how much of an elite 2-way player he could be

Love the analysis. I can definitely see how JC invites contact and need to study more of him but I don’t understand what you mean by “point guardish” every point guard has their own way of playing. The traditional point guard penetrates well and if we talking in-game he looks to find the open man. I see DG as a creative, witty player who counters, makes space and can invite contact too
