You didn’t lose the first game, it was a tie.
If you check the timestamp at 00:55 it was 1-0 your favor. Then at 01:00 the dude basically makes a layup making it one to one so tir game, but at 01:01 you’ll see it shows 1 to 2 instead of 1 to 1. The game ends at 06:06 it’s 14 to 15, but it should’ve been 14-14 unless there was another issue between the first point of theirs and the last one
And the second game, you guys barely lost.

These comparisons (D1 or NBA vs. regular hoopers) bother me for one reason: if it's a casual game, a run, playground, you really can't get an idea of the ceiling of the pro/college players - i.e. watching all the relatively uncontested drives/layups from the "regular" team, they'd presumably not be able to even get past half court dribbling if these players really locked in?

I used to be an above average basketball player. Certainly not elite, but I could beat most dudes that showed up at a court. 20 years ago in college, me and my boys did play against a team of D1 players at our college rec center during the summer. They came in the gym and picked the best dudes on the floor to give them a warm up. I may as well have not even been there. Their footwork and length and speed is so above the average dude it literally isn't fair. Just a little wiggle of the hip sends you the wrong way and the next thing you know you have a jumper floating over your head and they are back on the ground before you can even try to contest the shot. 21-0, they didn't hold back. My boy who was 6'7" tried to guard a 6'11" D1 center. Good luck. Dunk city. I'm a 5'10" dude to get one up on a 6'3" or so guard. And I'm here thinking he's not that athletic because he was the coaches son and was like the team glue guy/facilitator off the bench. Nah. Hell nah.

TJ would have been a phenomenal soccer player. Lack of height and hops wouldn’t be an issue…lateral quickness and coordination is there in spades. He could have gone pro in that sport.

That D1 team needed their coach there to tell them what to do and hold them accountable. God forbid they make fundamental plays and rotations without having to be told to. But that’s today’s undisciplined generation.

The D1 team's coach should have offered to coach the "average hoopers". The D1 team would've gotten their butts handed to them.

  • @levisik

I must say few words about player nr9 from Average Hoopers. You can cleary see, that he feels basket, and have strong fundamentals. Using left hand on the left side of the rim, right hand on right side of the rim, good moves. Defence lacks a bit, but I understand it was a friendly match so it was not his best :)
    Anyway - good effort all.
