Tactical: Captain, Sensors show large amount of debris heading our way
Captain: Shields up. Looks like the Kerbals have been launching their rockets again.
lol
Beat me to it
Yes Shack please do the full campaign with your captain's log intos like your Star Trek online play through. I was hoping to see this gem on the channel soon and I'd love to see you play it.
If not the campaign I'd love to see you do simulation battles too. Perhaps battles from DS9, or borg fleet battles like Wolf 359 or just all the factions teaming up to fight the borg. Either way I'd love to see more Bridge Commander.
Loved this game spent so many hours on it starting in the dauntless then moving to the sovereign. It had both those bridges.
Bridge Commander was just about the pinnacle of Star Trek games back in the day. The mods were incredible, and the game itself truly made me feel I had a worthy successor to Klingon Academy.
YES Please please do a full campaign it brings back so many good memory's!
Love it
I remember this game! I had lots of mods on it for TOS era ships, including a TOS Constitution bridge.
I was never very good at modding, but I did modify someone else’s mod for the TOS episode Balance of Power, with the original TOS Enterprise versus the Romulan cruiser.
The Romulan ship fired a gigantic red ball of plasma, which I adjusted so that it was powerful enough to destroy a TOS Constitution outright with a single direct hit! Of course it would home in on you as well, you couldn’t evade it entirely. But it was relatively slow moving compared to a normal torpedo, so with the right evasive maneuver at the right time you could change a direct hit into a glancing blow and survive. I took away the Romulan ship’s disruptor cannons so that the plasma torpedo was the only weapon it had, and that took 90 seconds to reload.
I think I did a good job of recreating the “Oh shit… oh shit… oh SHIT!” feeling in the original TV episode as the devastating weapon homed in on the player’s ship.
Unfortunately the Bridge Commander AI was too stupid to use the Romulan ship’s cloak effectively. Ideally it ought to have stayed cloaked while reloading, but it didn’t. I had to considerably beef up the Romulan ship’s shields to compensate.
Playing as the Romulan ship was awesome! With efficient energy management and good tactics, you could take on several Federation ships at once and win.
As someone who has been in that Modding community pretty much since it's inception and thanks for the shoutout. We worked very hard to push as much out of BC as we could.
One of my most favourite games ever! I still have the CD and play it to this day!
Bridge Commander was one of my favorite online games growing up, I remember playing the multiplayer servers of it, and it was tons of fun. Nice to see a look back at this awesome game!
Ah, Bridge Commander. I played this way back when it came out and then again with my nearly a decade old Let's Play series.
Welcome to my world Shack! Game came out in Feb 2002, Original Game had 2 Bridges btw Galaxy and Sov. ;) Use the F key view modes btw! Also this mod has a very heavy bias on the Romulan Warbird vrs fed ships. You need to be very careful. xD
Yeah, because an Excelsior could totally take on a D'deridex. Romulan bias *am i right?*
@@beh.r_co-mando.1374 Shack was flying the Lakota refit, the one that gave the Defiant trouble. I've also talked to the mod maker, the Warbird here is heavily biased against fed ships in his balancing, even the Galaxy has trouble with it. I think it should be a closer fight in balance but you still need skill and plenty of ships on your side to battle it out.
@@Nebula1701 Been wild playing this mod. Got my a$$ kicked by the Romulans as you said. Species 8472 decimated me in less than a minute.
OMG! This was my favorite game growing up!
YES! do a full playthrough!
I can't wait to see more of your battles, you make everything alot better.
Its improved alot with these Mods, i used to play this game years ago. And my brother loves this game as hes a real Star Trek Fan, he would love to play this game again. Thanks for this Video.
definitely my favorite star trek game. The flight combat was so much fun, like you had to be smart to be able to take out multiple targets, there was all kinds of maneuvers you could do in this game, it really felt like you were flying those ships. This game even had multiplayer back then.
Man I used to love this game. Last Star Trek game I played was Legacy maybe 15 years ago. I rewatch all of the TV series every few years.
Absolutely loved this game!!! In STO I have the sovereign as my main ship for my captain and also the dauntless god the memories of this game!!!
I loved this game! I played the hell out of this back in the day. Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to grab Bridge Commander and the mod and try them out.
Maaaaan. This game was the first one I ever played where I got involved with the online community. I was a part of the Devil Dogs clan.
DD ... I ran with u guys and later WP xD Remeber Kahn and Hawkeye?
Nice to see my space station mod is still around. Happy memories
Dude, this is incredible. Seeing a 20 year old game with 1080p textures and modernish models is mind blowing. I was in middle school when I played this and it looked nothing like your version lol.
I played this so much. Loved it to death.
Modded Bridge Commander has more than a couple of custom Bridges, and most people modding the game use the EF2 Bots. Not to mention custom mission mods like DS9 FX Xtended and BCS:TNG The Beginning and, Galaxy Charts. :)
Oooohhhh please do more Sir... This was a great trip down memory lane watching you play
Just downloaded Bridge Commander for the first time in 15 years. I am PUMPED! Thanks Shack.
Wow! I had soooooo much fun playing this game, including mods, back in the day. I still have it on CD but I haven't p[layed it in a decade. I'm definitely going to download it.
"We're not draining anyone's shield. You calm down."
I wanted to get into games development just to try and make a sequel to this game. It is literally screaming out for it, all of the technology we have now, being able to leave the captains chair and walk around, motion capture, choosing your own bridge crew and multiple choice gameplay, where is its spiritual successor!!???
I adored this game back in the day. I remember spending some seven hours downloading the demo (approx 120mb in size) over my dial up 56k connection lol. I even tried to recreate the bridge crew in Star Trek Online with my Galaxy class in there lol. Imagine what you could do with a modern version of this.
I would really like more scenarios like this and the whole campaign, captain shack. This looks really cool! :)
No excuses as Shack bravely flies away at full impulse lol
I remember this game like it was yesterday. The community around it was amazing, I remember being part of a "clan" called the FPL (Federation Planetary League), everyone had ranks and assignments (I was head of Intelligence!) and there were vibrant forums and rivalries between other "clans" it was a great time!
now is a perfect time to get back into it, everyone now knows its available, including all the old mod creators
They need to remake this game. I forgot how good it was.
I love this game to this day, had many mods, crashes, now with windows 11 looking to rebuild, love this game.
Had a lot of fun with this game back in the day, still have the hardcopy.
One of my utter favourite games
Absolutely need to do a full play through it’d be fantastic
This is my favorite Star Trek game of all time. I think that it captured the "Star Trek TNG" feel better than anything else out there. Games like Elite Force were fun, but none put you into the universe as well as this game.
I only wish that with all the mods out there, there's ones that add new adventures and campaigns.
Shack, if you're looking for more ships and better models the other classic mod back in the day was the Kobiyashi Maru megamod. Basically every ST ship you can dream of, other optional bridges, and really good high res models. The only issue is that using KM broke the singleplayer story. There was a patch that let you play KM ships with the base campaign, but then it wasn't as well balanced as vanilla. Still could be worth checking out.
In the 2000s I played more of this game than any other game, by far. Great to see it again. Wonder if I still have my disk somewhere......
;)
"Personal Log, Commander William Riker, Stardate 41153.7. The USS Hood has dropped me off at Farpoint Station where I await the arrival of the new USS Enterprise to which I have been assigned as first officer..."
absolutely loved this game!
The Bridge Commander engine was written to allow for unlimited graphical improvements. It was really cool. It could be updated indefinitely.
LOL. You've gone full Boimler. I approve.
imaging being so badass you have Dwayne Johnson as your conn/tactical officer
wow I used to love this game when it first came out all those years ago, great to see it again.
Bridge actually felt welcoming in this game! Plush
One thing about Bridge Commander mods I found out recently is that all the original mod uploads from Filefront are available at Gamefront. I was certain they were all lost when filefront went down but I was even able to all the old minor mods I made back in 2007
There were so many great mods around and hearing they will work with the gog version made me a very happy guy :)
Edit: tbh I never liked replaying the campaign but since you can add custom ships....
Captain Shack of the Spare Parts giving a retelling of his escapades to a brand new bunch of cadets
man that mod is amazing btw. I never tried that one before, last time i played this game was at least 10 years ago
I would love to see you do a full play through of the story!
This looks sooooo gooood, I miss playing STBC. IIRC, the game was suppose to support voice command but was never released with that feature.
10:46 : Ending simulation
Okay, so why is your console on fire?
Also, I believe you need to hail your allies- yeah, asking the Klingons to come fight seems silly, but it *IS* a TNG era sim...
The klingons WERE fireign on the romulans though.
@@LordDarthHarry I didn't see them firing; must've missed it.
@@Sephiroth144 9:45 for example. You can see green disruptor bolts hitting the Romulan ship in addition to the station's phaser.
@@LordDarthHarry Fair enough; think I might've missed them amongst the sparks/dust effects.
this game was my jam way back in the day.
Sins of a Solar Empire with the Star Trek Armada mod is pretty fun.
I remember once playing this as a shuttle vs an Excelsior, it couldn't hit me but I wasn't doing any real damage. In the end I rammed it and hit the right warp pylon killing me instantly, as the death cam looked back I could see I had cut the warp nassel off, it was amazing to see back in the day.
The BEST Star Trek game wich ever existed O_O Nice gameplay :)
Yes please, we need a full campaign, maybe with mods
I am all for you doing a let's play of thr campaign 😁
Full campaign? YESSSSSS
-- Glad you're running it. I tried so hard to get this to run back in the day, but it was so bugged. Spent days trying to figure it, no success. I did have a good shot at Star Trek Legacy. Another good game if you ask me.
wait, you're orbiting Kerbin? that's my home planet!
Please do the full campaign with the captains log intro, another campaign to try would be Starfleet/Klingon Academy.
Heh. I played BC a few months ago for the first time. I have no idea how I missed this gem at the time, but blimey, I would love to see more BC videos.
I played Bridge Commander on CD-Rom back in the dayand modded the heck out of it and the Excelsior Bridge there was a standalone mod if i remember rightly as i used to use it with the Miranda, Defiant and other Bridge mods and Uniform mods. Awesome game, good to see it make a return actually. Also Armada 1 + 2 used to play them from disc aswell and i modded them aswell, big shocker.
My childhood it’s wonderful
I would have been 11 when I played through this. Fantastic game, I really should play this again. And the elite forces games.
I could tell this was a modded version right away as soon as i saw the registry on the ship in the flyby - modded
Ahh btw you were using the Lakota refit, you have Quantoms available if you switched.
What's the difference between quantum and photons?
@@ovaldreamx4397 higher yield, more destructive power. (also blue in color rather than the orangish red of photons"
@@Nebula1701 Thanks! Also, I'm enjoying a lot the galaxy charts campaign now that I installed the full version instead of the KM one like you said. Tnxs!
would also like to see some mod spot lights, theres not many out there but they're out there.
This, is to this day still, the best star trek game in my humble opinion, and what i was hoping STO was going to be like, it is the best Star Trek Experience i have ever had in a game. I played the hell out of this game, i was involved in wars between clans (Fleets) so much fun, so many memories.
I'm so used to starships in Trek meeting each other The-Right-Way-Up that I had the thought "they're fighting upside down."
Still have this game, I believe it also had some voice commands for it.. but you had to have the right software for it.
Would love a play through
So glad gog released this. I used to play the kobyashimaru mod, has the same content as the remaster, but added some additional stuff like DS9 with random event spawn, warp speed selector, total damage control, system power controls, MVAM, wayyy more ships across so many races all sorts. I wish multiplayer became available again, miss the days of having 20 shuttles vs 1 sovereign class 🤣
There are MP servers available, you have to update the master server list in the game files to get them. Otherwise you have to use 3rd party lan VPNs to play against friends in LAN parties over the internet.
@@Nebula1701 cheers for the heads up! Will take a look and see if I can get on some mp!
omg, what's with Star Trek getting all the love lately??? I love it
Yes please do a full play of the campaign. Also the EXCELSIOR is the best looking ship ever in star trek. I loved it in star trek undiscovered country.
Klingon academy is another i would love to see remastered, the multiplayer was awesome on that i loved it
3:20 The original game had 2 bridges. Galaxy-class and Sovereign-class.
I play this all the time
Mobile Infantry C.O. here. I'm glad the game is back. I wonder if the multiplayer is working...
So good that you can download the game now. I have still the original CD-Rom, but my new gaming laptop has nothing to put it in.
Although it was painfull to watch Shack not raising up shields and struggling with aiming and evasive actions I would like him see a series on the campaign.
Where can u get the game ?
Did nice work on the ship models. The people models still need work.
Plaese do a full campain of this game episode style with you doing recaps of the story like you do for star wars and startrek online love both of those series.
YES!
Love this game
There is an option to orbit target. Next time hit T , then go to ops and orbit your target.
such a great game, deserved more acclaim
The helmsman is clearly The Rock.
Had a lot of fun with this game back in the day. Sadly it won´t run on my new laptop with Windows 11. Wondering if anybody has the same problems.
Now it's time to bring back Starfleet Command with the Hydrans/Lyrans.
The Sovereign Refit isn't Canon, per se. It's more of an explanation as to why the Sovvy from Nemesis seemingly had more firepower, and presumably had Ablative Armor added.
Full campaign YES!!
Hit T to switch targets. Ctrl + I to intercept a target (full impulse).
Captain Shack of the Extra Parts D, a.k.a. Dauntless
I loved this game to bits when I was younger. Played it til the disc broke.
If you want to get some really good ship models get the Kobiashi Maru 1.1 mod. That gives you a tonn of new ships and bridges with some great graphics. It does break the story so it's only good for quick battle. But it's glorious and it's got DS9 too!
For the campaign if you want to update the crew you can find the ST Elite Force crew mod that makes them look a lot better and I don't think it breaks the story either. It says it's abandoned but ignore that.
A year old you say... with this release date of Feb 2002, nice bit of math there. Starfleet would be proud.
yes please more!
I can't wait for Start Trek Armada I and II to come out. I will need to get those. I can't wait to see if they improved them.
I have both of them on disk still and love playing them still today
@@bravefalcon1619 I have both on disk and can't get them to work.
@@bravefalcon1619 what is GOg and can someone be clear. where can you get this game. I have those games but how or what are you playing them on. My 22nd century laptops can't play them. I'd appreciate some assitance to get them to play
I loved this game. Be great if it was re vamped for the PS5
