As a brazilian, the "come to Brazil" is just a meme, not even us want to be here, leave this God-forsaken country alone, it will be better if you stay safe in your country.
The most popular tourist states in Brazil have a huge problem with daylight robbery, either by just taking phones away or at gunpoint if you're in a car, for example. Me and most locals don't feel safe walking around with their phones out in the street, even if briefly, and tourists tend to be targeted more since it's assumed they're richer than the average Brazilian. I heard stories of some of them even being kidnapped to give access to their bank details and such. It varies from city to city, of course, but that still doesn't discount the fact it's a huge systematic problem here. I hope Drew is able to remedy the situation in the near future, and hopefully more people learn about these risks and spread awareness about it outside Brazil.
Also one thing I forgot to point out: Try to order Uber and such while inside a building, and start walking out when they're getting closer, to avoid having to check the app while outside a building (But be careful to not let the Uber driver wait too long). And if possible, try to stick to groups and crowded places while in public. It doesn't guarantee you'll be safe, but it makes thieves think twice about trying to attack a group.

This happened to me in dead center in London on a public bus stop next to a busy road. Motorbiker tried to run my foot over and snatch my phone while i was checking google maps. Luckily 6th sense and peripheral vision gave me a moment of clarity and i stepped back one step dodging the front tire and when he slapped the phone he hit it on the side flipping it and it dropped on the sidewalk. He got scared to stop and just drove off. This happened in front of a security camera on an office building and i went in and reported this attempt and police basically said "despite all information and footage its not worth looking as he will just change plates and wont be found so case is dropped, so nothing happened to him" Stay safe, always be mindful.
My ex is Brazilian and she told me straight up "Stay away, I know you love me I know you love my family and want to meet more of them but it is far too dangerous". Typically she jokes around but this time she had a very serious tone and look on her face so I listened even now she is adamant about never going back. Also, DO NOT TIE EVERYTHING TO A DEVICE THAT CAN BE STOLEN! Never and I mean ever tie all your information to 1 source because if something happens you are 100% screwed.
I'm pretty sure your ex was trying to avoid you meeting her family or just did not want you around. It's not that level of danger that she told you. If she is by your side and assuming she knows where you guys are going, it's really normal and safe. Some brazillians just hate the country and praise living in America or Europe for many reasons, and then exaggerate on that matter, which I'm not denying, some places here are truly dangerous, but its not on that apocalyptical level.
@@phapenas.5725 Actually, me and my ex still talk we broke up on mutual terms due to her father dying and the stress was just too much for her to maintain so it's not like we aren't friends. Also, I met her immediate family the ones that could afford to get out the reason she advised me from going is because the local gangs were hostile and were at war with the police force there so it was an active warzone, that's how her father died.
What freaks me out is that it sounded like he was alert and cautious when he was attacked. He looked down to punch in his Uber and boom. Phone gone. What if he had not entered the Uber in on time? He'd literally be lost and trapped in Brazil. All in a matter of seconds.
Alert? Walking around in skidrow surrounded by homeless people and druggies with his phone out probably recording or looking at googlemaps doesnt sound very aware to me
Unfortunate that he didn’t know this and having to deal with that headache is something. If you’re in America and you watch football, you probably seen how the NFL and the teams that went to play in Brazil told the players to basically not go out and all that. Players didn’t even want their family or friends to travel there for the game.

Glad he's alive and hopefully he will recover his data and won't have any trauma, can't imagine this situation, being powerless is the worst feeling in the world

I hope midbeast gets some professional help from someone here in Australia. These events can have a lasting impact on someones mental health. All the best to him, what a shocking and terrifying experience. Glad hes safe. Ill be sure to watch his videos and streams more to show some support
To put in perspective what he did is like going to Los Angeles and visiting Skidrow all by himself. Excluding a couple of blocks that are kept due to some judiciary buildings around the cathedral that place is known for its violence. We just had a NFL game and for comparison São Paulo is way safer than Philly, you just have to know the city just like any big 10+ million people city.
The controversy around Scout is that he and/or the team knew for months that he wasn't going to be able to leave the country and on top of that, roster lock already happened and LNG had confirmed another substitute. This sets a dangerous precedent, where underperforming players can suddenly have mysterious issues and teams get the out of jail free card of an emergency sub. If Riot is just going to make exceptions and ignore the rules whenever they please, why have rules in the first place?
Didn't you know? This is "welcome to Brazil" here! People are so warm when they see a gringo putting his phone up and talking in english (or whatever foreign language really)

Just by the description of a "Cathedral" at the center I guessed it was that one accursed place.
He survived the borders of Crackland, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady Assumption and Saint Paul.
My parents always told me when I was younger to not go as far as the Cathedral, even in groups, and this place got imprinted in my memory as a bad place.
As a Brazilian American, I was in that exact plaza that Midbeast was in literally a few months ago. The situation in Brazil is bad. Even if you’re in your car with the window open people tell you to not be on your phone because bikers will just reach in and swipe it from your hands. Sad to hear what happened to Midbeast.
Mordekaiser R is really dangerous territory
Praça da Sé is a very dangerous place (where he was assaulted) in Brazil. It's unfortunate that happened but it's very known to locals, that place is not to safe to naive or foreign people.
Its not even safe for locals, place is a nightmare if you don't know where you're going
@@LockArthan1996 it's also a nightmare if you do know where youre going LOL
if you dont mind me asking, is it the same spot where the homeless guy defended a woman from a gunned man and died for it? it seemed familiar to me
Assaulted n e assaltado n kkkkkkkkk robbed é assaltado. E praça da se e lugar de crackudo
@@kurasai6009bro no way u also saw that it was the first thought that crossed my mind but im still not sure the stairs and the pillars looked familiar
I've lived in São Paulo for over 20 years, so I know exactly how you felt. My condolences.
This was a planned hit by Mars Bars for the kitkat collab.
Drx went to Mexico and got the World Champs taco buff, Midbeast goes to Brazil and gets the stolen phone debuff.
The problem was coming to latin america, our countries are super PvP focused. I'm from Colombia and you have to ALWAYS be ultra aware of everyone around you cuz you can get robbed at ANY time.
Jajaj bienvenidos a latam
Lol pvp
Why is that tho?
@@giceism2832 Most of us are poor. Minimum wage is like 400usd kekw
This happened in front of a security camera on an office building and i went in and reported this attempt and police basically said "despite all information and footage its not worth looking as he will just change plates and wont be found so case is dropped, so nothing happened to him"
Stay safe, always be mindful.
@@phapenas.5725 Sounds like it, my girlfriend is from the North East and wants me to go as much as possible

The Midbeast situation is crazy!!!
Ok actually just my hopes and prayers for mister middle beans
Was it the guy at 1:20 with his shirt off? He looked like he was reacting to midbeast filming
Friend from Sao Paulo said few things about visiting as tourist, you never bring your main phone with you, you get a cheap one with prepaid card also no jewelry and just don't stand out as loaded tourist.
As a guy who lives in Brasil as a foreigner this is a terrifying reality my girlfriend gently reminds me of every day
Why would you ever made the decision to live there my dude...
have you ever seen the baddies there? I mean....
@@walkelftexasranger Why not
@@walkelftexasranger brazilian women are highly admired in western media standards

The best solution would be using cheap tourist phone that nobody would care about. But still this fucked up situation.
There's no such thing here...
Those guys don't care what kind of phone you have, they'll rob you anyway.
Why did I read this as the shocking MRBEAST situation at first I have BRAINROT
I remember in my university (Poland) our teacher surveyed us on the country we would like to visit.
I answered Brazil and after that he pulled up an article on São Paulo having the biggest crime rate in the world, so when Midbeast announced his plans I was kinda scared for him. Glad he's alive and hopefully he will recover his data and won't have any trauma, can't imagine this situation, being powerless is the worst feeling in the world
as a brazilian, I avoid going out at night in general, especially by myself. Brazil is a very dangerous country, especially in Sao Paulo and Rio, you always need to keep an eye out for weird people around you. Hope he recovers from this because I know its a horrible thing to go through.
Brazil is lovely as always
Literally a week ago I saw a Reddit post talking about how safe Brazil is
I hope midbeast gets some professional help from someone here in Australia.
Congratulations on surviving mordekaiser ult in real life! Truly a beast.
Jokes aside glad to hear he’s fine if not maybe a little shaken and down a phone.
Ultimately nothing terrible happened so I hope once he’s recovered mentally he’ll be ready with some dank Brazil memes in his videos.
i was worried about midbeast when he was talking about brazil and korea and was saying he wasnt sure brazil was more dangerous than brazil. I was like oh man i hope he is ok. brazil cities arent the safest places rn. sad to see he got attacked.
On the bright side for K'Sante players at least Riot hasn't tossed him into the "nerf into literal unplayable state until we can get around to a full rework sometime around 2205."
Non Brazilians: WOW!! Shocking! How could anyone do this?!
Brazilians: At least he's still breathing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The fact you guys are fine with this is disturbing.
I'm going to hell lol
@@walkelftexasrangerBro, you have no clue, for the longest time we had jokes about how the biggest fear one could have was two guys in a motorcycle, we learned to live with this, where you can and can't go, where you can't go at certain hours, where you shouldn't be going alone... and well, what can you do other than getting used?
Americans try to think outside their own perspective challenge:
@@walkelftexasranger It's not about being fine with it or not. The goverment is corrupt as fuck so you either learm to live with it or suffer the consequences. Tourists should do more research about where they're going and learn tips from locals ESPECIALLY in 3rd world coutries.
Even people who grew up in Brazil are afraid to go to some cities (ie São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro), especially alone. I went to Rio for the first time earlier this year and did not bring my phone with me anywhere. Walked around with just enough cash to get by and nothing else. Hope Drew is feeling better, that's some scary stuff
as someone who lived in Brazil for half his life, if u ever go there again dont take your personal phone out of the hotel, just buy a cheap one for travelling. But not too cheap or they might unalive you.
As a brazillian and someone who lives in sao paulo, you always have to keep safe. During the night it can be dangerous, but most of the time during the day it is pretty safe, with some exceptions in some specific areas (the one where he went to is one of those) you are supposed to be specially careful with your belongings, anyways hope drew is good and he nothing super bad happened to him. On 5 years living here i also got smuggled once, and its such a headache...
Lol bro I think you misused the word “smuggled” there but yeah wow
It’s just how the world is man. People don’t understand that life is completely different in other countries. If you’re a foreigner in a place like Brazil, you have a target on your back.
love ur content!
my guy went to brazil and expected to not get bonked by mordekaiser.
Midbeast always looks like Mr steal your wife, but you could tell you he looked pretty different in this video and has affected him. Hope you're doing well legend
avg barzil moment, no wonder mord sends you there
“ drew dont go around flexing your phone and wallet because its brazil “
Drew : they call me mid beast because im a beast in mid
I'm so sad for midbeast, I'm from brazil and unfortunately this situation is more common than we would like it to be, this country sucks, don't come to brazil yet, friends. we're going through some dark ages here
Everybody told bro to not use his phone, the legend still managed to get it stollen, l'm impressed
man ksante mains being unhappy? Today is a good day
always ALWAYS set your phone to auto lock after a few minutes, even while using it
Pro tip: if the fiend doesn't show a weapon, just throw hands.
What if it just isn't being used from the start? What if the guy has pals? What if he can beat you? I doubt the chances are ever worth taking
Universal fingerprint logins would have been massive here
MidBeast if u ever see this comment. its ok bro, next time you go anywhere u take a squad mate with you, one that will have eyes every where while u need to do what u have to. No its not being scared its called never be alone. Breathe brother its ok. dont think to much on it. yes it happened its ok. Come to terms with how scary this world really is. But Keep trucking dont let this back set you. U Got this bro.
Nothing would ever convince me to visit Brazil.
Let this be a good lesson for anyone this hasn't happened to yet, technology is great but when traveling always always always make sure to take extra precautions Beast isnt like a weak target some of these people are willing to take/rob anyone sometimes even in broad daylight NEVER leave your phone unlocked and no matter how safe you perceive yourself to be always make sure you are on guard. It sucks that while traveling this is the way it has to be but its better then what could happen even more so when you are alone in areas not everyone out there is your friend please stay safe guys and always remind yourself and others about the dangers while traveling.
Can’t go anywhere without it on you anymore, people are not to be trusted
It was Baus. He took it with Sion ult.
weird tone shift on the rest of the news xD, maybe better as a seperate video? All my best to midbeast. Thanks for the update :(.
there are rumors that Yagao may not play since Ruler helped Scout pay quite a lot of money to be allowed to go to worlds
Brazil is not a good place to visit. And I am Brazilian. Please dont come here. It is not safe and where he went (this church) is where drug user live and where they buy the drug. His cellphone has now been turned into 2 stones of crack.
We love you modbeast. Nice to see you well.

As a brazilian, the only thing you need to do when in Brazil is leave, don't follow the "come to Brazil" meme
Didn't know Brazil was scary like that. Sad to hear about it
I always assumed that giant statue was Jesus waving at the world to stay away
Hope midbeast gets huge viewer spike for this he deserves a pick me up
4:20 hahaha finally the smurfs know how it feels 😂
The guy whose been spamming "Come to Brazil 💯" in Midbeast chat wanted him to know what he REALLY meant when he spammed that.
This type of situation is why my 2fa for everything is set up on my home PC
I remember catching up Midbeast mid stream a day or two before, people asked if he explored the city or not, and he replied something like: "Not yet. I'll sound like that guy, but I want to walk around on my own, even though people say I should have someone experienced around."
Oh well.
This is why I don't travel out of country with my main phone. Secondary phone with Secondary information. Not logged in to any accounts.
As a Brazilian we do warn people of exactly that all the time, best thing you can do is have a throw away phone and never walk by yourself if you are not familiar with the place, brazil is a beautiful place with incredible people, but it isn't the safest place(you are all more than welcome here, but please be safe people).
When a Brazilian sees you with anything more technologically advanced than a rock in your hands
I heard "Brazil" and thought "oh ok that makes sense"
Brazil is scary fr but the moment I get looked at to funny this glock gon be scary fr
noway4u and midbeast now both got attacked and robbed, what a cruel world we live in
There's a reason why Brazil is so frowned upon...
This whole time K'Sante had omnivamp in his kit? What does this overloaded champ not have?
And this is why he should have had a dummy phone. Thief gets a phone, but not yours.
The moment i heard Brazil i knew what was gonna happen
Drew should've spectated some vods of citys to avoid in br
i live in brazil and go to the same place he went in a regular basis. it is one of the most dangerous place in são paulo, you dont go there alone and expecialy if you dont know your surroundings and you dont stay there after you visited the church.
That's why you never go to that Morde ult that is called Brazil
That area Midbeast got robbed is literally nicknamed "Crackland" by the locals. Should have done his research.
