Just buy the Max7219 led matrix, it is now very cheap and affordable that way you can cascade it in series to make it longer instead of making led matrix on your own.

I have a query, if I was to make a large display..say 4x3 feet with static text that I can change using bluetooth or some other way? What IC, resistors, and processor I would need.
