How long does it take to become proficient in learning one of these? As a perfect binder/ folder/ stitcher operator it doesn't look too complicated to me at all.

It wouldnt take long for someone with your type of understanding. Typically for an inexperienced person about 2 years.

Looks very complex. I'm an apprentice operator in the UK, we run mainly straight line at high speeds but have done crash lock and 5th panel crash lock occasionally.
Do you have any tips for an apprentice?

      1. When it comes to carriers, rails and bars... the more control you have over your carton, the better. Use what you have at your disposal to control/drive the cartons through the machine. Do you have room for the center carrier in the folding section? Use it.
      2. Check your swords. Are they straight and even with the outside of the belts? Can the carton move easily under the sword? If not, the carton may try to hang up there if you're not using the top center belt (in the folding section).
      3. When folding or pre-breaking any score, make sure you are doing so gradually and gently. Don't try to pre-break too aggressively. That can damage the carton at high speeds. If you have a long sword to support the carton, use it. Remember, that carton can act like a sail.
      4. When it comes to speed, sneak up on it. After I'm running at the estimated speed, I will usually increase my speed by 10 meters/minute then watch what the carton does and listen for anything that sounds out of place. Remember though, some cartons prefer a certain speed and there's nothing you can do about it.
      5. RELAX!!! Once in a while you are going to have a make-ready /set-up that is going to be difficult; maybe you're having an "off" day, maybe the carton wasn't cut perfectly, maybe the carton has a one-sided score or an auto-bottom/crash lock with a bad diagonal perf. We ALL have that one set-up that gives us a lot of problems and makes us feel like we're eating a giant bag of dicks. When that happens, walk away from the machine, go for a short walk, have a cigarette, listen to your favorite song and clear your head then come back. Trust me on this one.
      6. Build a good working relationship with your crew at the end of your machine. Without them you are dead in the water. Compliment them once in a while. That will go a long way towards have a good or bad day. Once a month or even after a long hard week I buy them lunch.

You are full of shit! I’ll bet one year’s salary you couldn’t run this carton at 200 m/min! I’ll be waiting.

This was a short run that I'd never run at 200m/min. Maybe 10k parts total if I remember correctly.
Also I'd love to see a video of a z fold running that fast in general.

@@kodybowman4855 think they are full of shit, with the size of cca 20 cm and gap of 5 cm, they are talking at 48000/h speed. Dont think you can realistically expect more than 20k out of that type of box
