    Boris Johnson is a mix of English, Turkish, Russian, Lithuanian, German, French, Prussian, Swedish and basically every country in Europe. This man has a heritage more diverse than the food selection in an American fridge.

    This is such a classic story.
    His grandmother ran away from home because she didn't want to marry a man she wasn't in love with.
    Sacrificing wealth and security she then met a man and fell in love and spent the rest of her life on a farm where she started a family, and watched them grow and have grandchildren which she also helped to raise.
    So much depth to her story. Very ironic to who Johnson is.

    • @alexpond648
      @alexpond648 3 года назад +16

      I think it was his great-great grandmother that didn't wanted to marry the man her princly father intended for her. Instead she ran to her uncle The King and got a gift (the silver) from him. I mean she was his illegitimate niece, he didn't had to give her anything. She then still managed to marry German nobility. Sad that Granny Butter will know nothing about it. She just thought they were French, because everything gentry, even petty gentry was written in French.

    I did a little "light reading" yesterday because I wanted to find out more about the "cast of characters".
    Frederick I and Augusta Caroline had a VERY unhappy marriage. Frederick preferred men sexually and was also verbally and physically abusive. When they were at the Russian court, guests of Catherine the Great, she--Catherine the Great--expelled Frederick from Russia and Augusta Caroline remained in Russia the remainder of her life!
    Prinz Paul was their youngest child and remained with his mother until he was a young adult...at which time, he became besotted with Frederika...a well-known opera singer who was also a widow with 4 children from her deceased husband.
    The way I understand it, Prinz Paul did the right thing and raised Karoline on his own, naming her after himself--middle name Paulina--and 3rd name Caroline after his mother.
    Having a child from a previous relationship...one he clearly doted on...caused some friction in his own marriage, so he took ALL his daughters--Karoline included--to live in Paris, leaving his sons behind with his wife in Germany. He and his wife never reconciled.
