Im blown away at the stupid responses. FOR a small driveway this thing is perfect and unlike a snow blower it barely takes up any room in garage and no more Pullng chords and looking for gas. The questions is do the pros out way the cons. Im sick of repairing my snow blower and having gas go bad...and storing it.
Cool. Thanks for the review. I just purchased this Toro 60 volt cordless snow shovel. Have the battery charged up and now waiting for my next snow fall to occur here in Northern Illinois. We had one light snow fall, but did not have this unit to use. Hopefully this will work out great for me. Thanks for the video and take care.
Best review of this. Very in depth and using it in actual snow. Everyone is using this in dustings. I have a corner lot with sidewalks and a longer 3 car driveway. I use a snowblower for anything over 2". I'm just tired of shoveling for more than an hour with 2" and under, so this isn't it for me. Maybe a gas single stage for the lighter stuff.
So it come with the 2.0 or 2.5 ah battery.. but if my son takes it to make some money when it snows . I was thinking its gonna be better with the 7.5 ah battery that they sell . Longer run time right
I bought the plug-in model over 10 years ago on clearance at Target for I think $16. I've used it twice. It doesn't snow much here! I hope I didn't just jinx myself...
Hi Brian! Toro makes some good stuff, and this would appear to be a winner,. Bottom line, it’s a shovel with a ‘turbo function’ built in! 😄😂. I can’t believe the throw that thing had! Your video highlighted it well. I would doubt the four car and six inches as well, but for drier snow under six inches, and on smooth level surfaces, this should perform well. I’ve shoveled a lot of snow over the years, and the best method on smooth surfaces, is to just ‘freight train ‘ it, and keep pushing until you have to lift the shovel and dump it. This Toro eliminates that, and should keep a lot of men or women from the ER, or the Morgue! On a cheerier note, another professional video Brian, and I wish you and yours A Happy and Prosperous New Year! 👍😁✌🏻🇺🇸
4:19 i have one different brand. it works well but problem is when wind is agisnt you, all that snow blows into your face. id get a single stage snow blower for a. few dollars more
My wife and I don't have a garage and I go to work before she does, usually about 3:30 in the morning. Is this loud, like a traditional snow blower, or is it quiet enough where I won't wake the neighbors, whose house is just 20 ft away from us? I'm asking because I have a bad back and I'm looking for an easy solution, in case I need to clear a path to my wife's vehicle for when she leaves. Thanks for the video.
It is quiet. The noisiest part is the snow and paddles hitting. It would not be offensively loud at all and probably the quietest solution out there. A metal edge snow shovel might be louder
@@WorkshopAddict That's exactly what I was thinking, too. Even a plastic snow shovel is loud, which is what I've been using for years, early in the morning, so I was hoping this would be a good alternative. Thanks for the feedback.
I really like this snow thrower form factor. I had a corded unit that was a great tool. I got a Ryobi version of this and it disappointed me. They connected the arm on the side instead of the center so it has no balance. I know this isn’t intended for deep snow, but my plug-in unit could be used to remove layers of deep snow. I wonder if this unit could work in that way or if the weight would make that impractical. This might be interesting to try as an experiment if you still have this unit when you get a deeper snow fall. I would really love to see a robust multistage battery powered snow blower.
Could the replaceable cutting edge be replaced with say a 1by piece of wood or a 2by piece of wood to raise the auger away from the ground to avoid the rock chucking? This video is the first I’ve heard about the edge being replaceable.
Would like to see how this product handles for an older individual, preferably a female. Does one need to do a lot of pushing or heavy leaning into the machine.
I actually bought a power shovel of the Ryobi brand for the expand it 40v line. It actually acted like it worked too hard to run the paddles beyond 20 seconds of operation. Also, it would produce a shock to the palm of your hand or leg depending on which was closer to steel. Took it in to a tech at Home Depot who basically didn't believe me about the issue. He recommended returning it to avoid further issue. I decided to take his advice and did while upgrading to their 40 volt single stage. Not sure about it currently. Waiting in a chance to use it. Great vid on this one though. They have a purpose!
Sometimes I do, then people start going crazy that I am sponsored by whomever I put the link to. Sometimes I find it best to not link to anyone as I owe no one anything.
@@WorkshopAddict ahh.. Makes sense. If people buy based on your video, they should give you a cut. I guess it takes time but as long as you keep it honest then that's good for us. 🙂
Snow joe is garbage. I went through 3 of their 2 stage units and 3 of their versions of this. They are cheaply made and break easily. I still have one shovel that works but its on the verge of dying.
My Sun Joe electric pressure washer is okay...I have a 4000 psi gas for hardwork though..not sure about their Snow Joe stuff ...Toro kicks ass though....
They never should have put the battery where you're supposed to be holding the handle... I brought mine back to the store the next day because it just was unnatural and uncomfortable to hold
LOL. I like my neighbor and mine was pointed in their direction, but plenty far away. If you did not like them and were around stones, it would get interesting.
You are using it wrong! You’re using it like a snowblower rather than a shovel. Try standing in one spot and blow/push what you can reach and then pull back and do the next short swipe and so on then move forward once the immediate area is clear. The way you are currently doing it you are wasting a ton of time walking back to the beginning. Also, blow/push in the direction of the shorter lengths of the pavement.
I get it. Sometimes I push tools a bit more to see how they will hold up, power wise. It also shows how far it throws better. you can see me using it on the sidewalk the proper way until i get close to the stones and do not know where the stones start.
And you can buy a decent 2 stage one for less than half the price of ego's new 2 stage snow blower, or riding mower, and buy a new car for half the price of a Tesla. And I'll never buy another gas powered tool again.
take a look at this video of a guy clearing snow from fire hydrants. ruclips.net/video/yQbwwTyqV-U/видео.html will that power shovel handle a job like that or is it only for blowing a few inches of light fluffy snow off your sidewalk?
I wish ego made one of these that attached to their powerhead. I have gone through 3 of the snow joe version of this. They are great for decks, patios and stairs.
I have a Ryobi version that attaches to their powerhead. I don’t like it. The power may be an issue, but mostly I think I dislike it because the arm connects on the side rather than the middle so there is no balance.
@@WorkshopAddict i think it would be ok. I have tne ego bristle brush attachment and use it to move everything from dirt , mulch and even deep snow. Not ideal but works well. The brush id so strong i once broke the handle that attaches to the powerhead.

Wow I saw tool boss do a video on this a few days ago cool to see you do a video on it in way thicker snow @WorkshopAddict
I see the discharge angle. But what if I want to lower the discharge angle.

From what I can see, there is no robust multistage battery operated snow blower made yet.

Great tutorial. Thanks.
have you tried the 6ah or 7.5ah batteries? are they too big and heavy for use in the power shovel?
Have try one of Sun Joe products ? Keep up the good work 👍🏾
I have seen the sun joe ones and did not think they felt like great quality.

I’m really surprised the paddle is plastic instead of rubber. I feel the plastic will break.
We have seen this same thing on Greenworks snow blowers and they hold up.
They never should have put the battery where you're supposed to be holding the handle... I brought mine back to the store the next day because it just was unnatural and uncomfortable to hold
So your saying if you don't like your neighbor then you could of course accidentally point it in there direction.

Sadly the snow direction can't be changed by throwing it to the left or right. My Earthwise does this and is much better then Toro.
Battery life for that price is absurd. You can buy a small snow blower for 300 that can do more. Doubt this thing is one of their top sellers...😕

So you don’t trust the manufacturer with their own product’s ratings huh?
Not good if your 6 ft tall or above.
$300 narrow path and 💩 run time. No thanks 👎🤮
Understand, it is not for everyone. But it is meant for small stuff a normal snow blower would not work well on.
For a few bucks more you can get a full size single stage.
@@FishFind3000 You can. Right tool for the job?

IMHO, this might be too much stress for a powerhead attachment. It would depend if you slam it into ice or not.
