This guys' videos will help you a lot. ruclips.net/video/p_5MqRS43ao/видео.html
Don't forget, if you fit a 2Ltr Pinto, it's an interference engine unlike the 1.6 so any mishaps with the timing belt WILL result in bent/snapped valves. ;¬) You should try and find a nice old 2Ltr V4, get it back to original. Keep up the good work.
Lovely to rev up a stone cold engine that hasn’t been run for years with no coolant ....
Takes a while longer to get up to temp luckily the thermostat wouldn't be even starting to open on that length of time even with the revving ..but a couple of minutes more ...
@@TheFusedplug but there is no coolant round the bores.
It’s his car he can do what he wants so wind ya neck in Peter Perfect.
She lives. You got emotional, I got emotional. Hearing that Pinto fire up again was music to the ears. Goes to show old Ford's never die, they just keep getting better. Well done to all involved
Why would you rev an engine that much knowing its been stood for years, cold, and has no coolant. Fair play for getting it running though.
I guess it was pent-up frustration... It survived thankfully!
I’ve been restoring classic vehicles for nearly 40 years this guys only just starting out we all have to start somewhere and he’s not doing too bad👍
Worried about how he ran the engine? You ain’t seen nothing till you’ve seen @ziptiesnbiasplies 😂😂😂😂
Revving a stationary engine is not necessary a bad thing when cold; there is no load and RPM means higher oil pressure.
Revving it like a Lunatic Orchestra Conductor. I was waiting for a meltdown.
Where there's a will there's a way. Well done.
I just binge watched all eight episodes (Corona Virus Lock Down 2020) and had a fantastic time watching and reading the comments. Cheers.
Nobby, we're up to part 34, keep watching buddy! Thanks for your encouragement and glad you've enjoyed watching us clowning about 😊👍🏼🛠😎🎸🌙🎩😊🔥😊
You are what we call a bush mechanic.......well done for getting it running from Australia 👍
England's version of croc dundee on engines! Thanks for watching from the other side of the world Big Keg :)

Bugger the haters mate
You have fun......when she started up, even mum was happy 👍👍👍
@@bigkeg9173 LOL!!! She is standing next to me now, and says yes, and she's looking forward to her first ride in the car!!! (Wearing a crash helmet).
Thanks Big Keg :)
Emmanuel
I like watching those bush mechanics, when they take an old derelict car out in the desert and somehow get it running, just natural mechanics
@@edwardmulder3777 using a tree limb as slide for a wheel lol
Old Fords never die they just go faster
Chubbs69uk they don’t though do they 😂 they just leak horsepower all over your drive way and send smoke signals to other drivers
i think your auto corrects gotten that wrong it should be rustier, not faster
i cannot belive my ears and eyes that it started wow well done lads
I had a 74 with the 2.3 inline 4 in the US. It was unstoppable. Previous owner thought that he seized it because it was spitting oil out of the distributor shaft and sold it to me for $75. I fixed the oil leak by replacing the PCV valve and drove it for 5 years until a taxi him me. I slowly restored it while I was driving it. I must have put 120k on it and never had to touch the engine. I’m 56 and I’ve owned a ton of cars, but the Capri was my favorite.
Congratulations mate on getting her running again, very unconventional rebuild a bit hit and and miss and cringeworthy in places but ultimately you succeeded. Don't rev the nuts of her so much until all the cooling system is complete and let her run in on tick over for a good period of time. Well done Dude 👍🏁
Might want to get a cooling system on there before you melt it down ;)
Oooohhh yes!
Not a borher, they didn't run it long enough to overheat, that'll be up next
Fair play guys, what an adventure ! Great job don’t stop now 👍👍👍
Watched all the series, you guys done brilliant to get her running. If I was your neighbour I'd of scaled a 12ft fence just to see that moment starting her up
Thank you buddy!
If you click to view the entire playlist series, you'll see where we've got to with the restoration 👍
From watching the 1st video I thought no way! But watching you persevere and overcoming problems to get it started total respect, can't wait to hear it running under it's own steam....
Well done
Well done on getting it running. The excitement was palpable!
Thank you Clive 😊🔧🏁🕶
You gave me a flashback to 1978 when I was pushing around Germany in one that vintage,
I knew it would run, better than I thought to be honest. These have been the best videos I've seen on you tube for a while. It just goes to shows what can be done with a bit of help from friends, basic tools and the internet, not forgetting your hard work. Well done and I can't wait to see more videos. Get your fund page up, as I'm up for that.
That took me back to my late teens in the 70's when I used to mess about with engines in a similar way, mainly Mk 1 & 2 Ford Cortinas. The excitement when it first starts after a major operation is so enjoyable and your video took me right back to those days. Thank you very much for taking us along with you, your efforts are much appreciated!
Thanks Buddy!
Brilliant! this has been the most compulsive and best viewing I've seen since coronavirus lockdown. I was jumping up and down when that thing fired into life. Real world restoration, love it! Well done you are a natural on camera mate.
Thank you Neil!
We're up to part 34 on youtube, more to watch f you want it! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome job getting it running dudes, from a fully frozen and rusty engine, well done. Sounds nice too,!
Thank you Edward, we're up to part 39 now!! You've got some watching to do 🙈🛠😎🎩😊🔥👍🏼
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us. Keep sharing. Great job!!!!! Makes you appreciate a car more.
Thank you for watching and sending us this message Hall Mark : )
Emmanuel
Thanks guys . This has been a blast from the past many years a go i rebuilt a mk5 cortina 2ltr looking at all the parts has been a memory blast for me the capri is the only ford i have not owned maybe one day . Thank you guys.
Beautiful job and completed under very challenging conditions. ie, Steve Wright in the Afternoon.
Thank you Corrine 🤣🤣🤣
Woohoo !!! Was watching with headphones on,,the wife thought I had the footie on when I was whooping and shouting lol !! That was a brilliant moment, well done mate !!
Ah that's lovely to read George!!!
Gav and I must have re-watched that engine starting about 800 times each already... 😁
Special moment 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🛠🛠😎🔥🎩😁
Thanks for your comment and general encouragement, it means a lot !!
Emmanuel
Great video. Amazing effort on an amazing car. I grew up with capris and always wanted one myself. Hopefully one day.
Well done buddy. Fantastic job. This video made my evening. Great job. Quite an achievement. Can't wait for the next instalment now!
Great job getting the old girl running guys
Thank you Russ 🙈🛠🎩🍺🔥👍🏼😊
Going from a seized lump to a running lump totally enjoyed these videos up to now. You’ve done fantastic ignore the comments on running it without coolant system plumbed in. We all get excited when we get something working that shouldn’t. All the best mate and thanks for the great videos.
Thank you Scottyboy87.
Watching back, it would have been better to not rev it that much, that early, but i guess it was pent-up frustration or something in me that made me do it.. I don't know. It sounded great though, and the flames were cool!!
I think, if we continue, which is likely, it will be something along the lines of 'Part 9 - will it drive?'
Thank you for your encouraging comment, and watching the vids - Glad you enjoyed them!!
Emmanuel : )
Thanks for the response Emmanuel.
I have a 1984 Morris Ital which had sat for years and when I got that started for the first time I was also trigger happy on the accelerator we all do it ha ha.
Also have an Austin Ambassador and when I eventually do get that running it will be the same.
I shall look forward to part nine. Honestly mate keep it up you’re doing an amazing job and it’s really good to watch.
Really do appreciate the reply.
Scott.
What a journey!
keep it up cant wait for the body work!
My hat goes off to you guys well done, i now have to do the washing up for a week cos i bet my wife it wouldn't start. Thanks guys for being my go to place on RUclips.
Nice one!. A laugh and a bit of an 'education' for us non mechanical 'Noddies'. Great to see that motor 'breathing' again!. Nuff said. 🙂
Just stumbled across this video.. Excellent stuff.. I'm an old petrol head 57.. And owned a few capri back in the day.. Had a lot of fun yrs ago hoiking a few pinto, s out of a few capri /Cortinas.. Using a Rope n shackle over the garage beam 😂happy days..
Remember one occasion we timed it up, but it wouldn't start, so mate towed me round the block in his vw van, still wouldn't start.. Got it back, and realised we got it 180 degrees out lol. Re timed, started first pull 😁
I know that feeling you had when she started up, it's a simply awesome feeling. I'd never worked on a diesel engine in my life yet I bought a small C15 romahome campervan with a snapped cambelt and a snapped camshaft, I spent the next 14 months restoring the engine and bodywork on my own and when the engine first started after 3 years standing I could have cried. Wish you could show photo's on here. Good job there dude and keep the videos coming.
Thank you Jerry , good work indeed, yours and ours alike 👍🏼🛠😊🎩
CONGRATS GUYS Jackpot! Looking foward to the vide along
Thank you Anon!! : )

Excellent. We wanna see everything you do to this car. Just like you have.
Well done. good to see the old girl running.
Thanks Sean 😎⚡😁🛠🔥👍🏼👍🏼
Was great to hear it run . Thank you for the video .
Ive owned 4 Capri's over the years...Raced several of them...still own one today....And i got to tell you to see that little 2000cc engine light off...really brings back some memories....Even the Sound is so familiar to me....A wonderful design....i knew she was going to light off...they alway would...Switched to the 2.3 lima motor in the mid 80s...but even with the extra displacement...they never ran as Strong as the 2000 motor....Great Video.!..brought back memories...👍
Its a 1600cc
@@tigermoth3194
Yeah...external dimensions the Same...Same Valve cover....Sold in Europe....US got 2000cc motor...Ford did sell a 1600cc Pinto but is was based on a different engine...
These engines are real strong , back in the day we used them for beach racing , half the time a rad hose would blow half way through a race and you would say sod it and keep going , they were over revved and abused in every way possible , even if a cam belt broke or came off due to sand the engines were ok because they are non interference engines meaning the valves can not hit the pistons , what great engines they were and what good memories these videos bring back .
great to hear it running .Look forward too the next video .
Thank you Richard :)
it is great to see the first start of the capri greetings from the netherlands
Well done mate! Glad you got it running, I will look forward to seeing your future videos. Steve.
As your friend said, epic! From seized to running, brilliant, well done. Thanks for sharing the journey.

@@Classiccarbscouk when that fired up a song come to my mind. Mott the hoople all the young dudes. Keep shining mate.
I believe the proper British phrase is "cracking!" Well done guys, no I'm not sure how long it will last being that it was so full of corrosion, the bearings and piston rings had to have been affected, but I do share your enthusiasm because you brought the old Capri back from the dead! Spot on!
Spiffing marvellous old chap 😁😁😁
Thank you Dave!
Emmanuel
Well done mate! Well fkin done. To do that on your drive with limited knowledge deserves a round of applause. I couldn't do it. Ignore the idiots telling you you're doing things wrong. It's your project and you can do it however you like. I've watched the first 8 episodes, cuz I had to see you get it started, and now I've got something to watch again tomorrow and for however long this crazy situation we're in sorts itself out. Thanks again for the videos. I love that you show every bit you're doing in detail. Cheers bro👍
There's a bit more drama later on..
Thanks for your support, and glad you are enjoying the vids.
Onwards and upwards 👍🏼🔥🎩🏁🛠😊👌
Great work lads. That Capri is a lovely find.
Thank you Sean 🛠👍🏼😊🎩🍺🔥😊

Fantastic! She runs. Bloody awsome mate. May the restoration continue. Well done mate.
Amazingly satisfying experience watching your hands at the bench and listening to you think out loud. Those flames are awesome.
Ah thank you Mike!! 👍🏼🛠🔥😁⚡😎😊🍺😊
you cannot beat that feeling when it starts you just want to wallow in the noise and bathe in the excitement, obviously you did this on a budget, buy yourselves a six pack and swim in the ecstasy
Yup, was a great moment, a triumph.
There are a few unexpected findings though, keep watching 😁😁😁🛠🔥🎸🤘😎
very well done guys !!! great stuff . happy day !!
Thank you Larry! 🛠🔥🎩👍🏼😎😊🍺😊
Good to see it running again. Now for the 1001 other things you need to do to get it roadworthy.
Well done lads old school mechanics at it's best 👍

Well done for getting it running after all that time 🇬🇧👍

Well done. Good to see another old Ford coming back to life!
Epic job chief, not seen a late 60s Capri on the road for ages, save it.
Thank you! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🛠😎
I had the biggest smile on my face when it fired up :) Fair play to you for having a go and getting it up and running!
I'm a bit late to the party with this one but I've binge watched the video's in order up to this point. Great to see just normal blokes doing their best. I'll resist jumping ahead to the last one (if you've got that far yet) and watch them in order. Hope it went well.
Iv just watched all of your capri videos back to back. It was awsome to see it start. Sounds beefy 😀. Good work man. Love the car
Thanks!! Have you gone all the way through to part 30? That's the most recent one.
Emmanuel
Hi mate. I didn't realise there was more. I'll be watching them after work. I suffer from anxiety as well. It's a shit feeling.. you feel like you have done something wrong but even though everything is ok. I just go in the garage and mess around with my car then everything is all good
Absolutely amazing to see that capri engine start 😊 pleas continue to post videos of this restoration of this ford. I have really enjoyed watching 👍👍😊
That is very nice of you to say Jonas - Thank you very much : )
Emmanuel
😊 I found your restoration by chance and got hooked right away, I’m a big fan of the capri as well it is a really cool car long bonnet and small coupe. So I’m longing for the next episode. Gonna be interesting to se what you do next. Have a nice evening.
I don't know who was more amazed that it started, you or me ! but well done guys, looking forward to the next one.
Haha!! Thank you Rojac!

Thank you Lee!!
SUCH a good feeling when you get a car to start 😅
Excellent, cant wait for the next video.
Thank you Gary : )
Emmanuel
I'm glad you managed to get it to run. A big achievement. Well done :) I've followed the journey right up to this video iteration. The Ford Capri is my favourite car. I like the design and the history behind it. You did an amazing job. I've learnt a fair bit about car engines watching these videos (it's been an education) and at the same time, I've been entertained watching the restoration unfold and the banter. I look forward to the next videos. Thanks :)
Thanks Aero01.
The story with kate continues to this day, see if you can follow the video thread/playlist. We are restoring her.
@@Classiccarbscouk Thanks. I will definitely follow the playlists. I find these videos very interesting. I'm impressed with what I've seen so far :)
The end of what has been a superb series of films about the man on a mission , grit determination and humour triumphed in the end thank you for letting us share the experience with you rule magnificent 😊👍
Thank you Bob! 😊👍🏼🛠🔥🍺
Well I suppose the name classiccarbs.com didn't refer to your classy diet. sneaky Emmanuel had a garageload of reconditioned carbs skopped back there! No wonder they were so confident about the carb rebuild! I def think you have a future on TV. Also lovely to see all the comments coming in from the US and Aussie! The 85% has it!
If you put your finger through where the water pump goes, can you feel to the back of the stud hole No 1 cyl' where your mate 'your mate' drilled out the stud?
Helicoiling may not be enough if he has drilled through into the water jacket, may need plugging as well!
But for now! You have a running Pinto in a '69 Capri! Needs an exhaust, a throttle cable, a choke cable, number plates bolting on, a cheeky call to get an MOT, while you craftily detour to your mate's rolling road!
Incidentally how mucky did the inline petrol filter get?
But really well done It is a fine testament to home spannering. If you have the old Greek reg, make a cardboard sign with the old Greek reg. Maybe the old Greek dude will get in touch!
Thank you very much for your input , comment and suggestion!!
The inline fuel filter immediately went yellow. deep yellow. So i think it's rust.
Yes, rolling road power run might be an interesting watch!!
Thank you for your tips regarding that exhaust stud hole too : )
Will be having a look at that over the next few days.
Emmanuel : )
MOT exempt.
Sweet job! Very nice work! That was fun.

Fantastic video lads just the job thanks
Great job reminded me of me and my buddy Sam. We worked on many things from cars to tractor and trailers here in south east West Virginia. More than once we had never taken something apart but we always had the trucks going so they could use them the next day these videos brought back alot of memories. My buddy Sam passed away a few years back but when that motor hit that first time I felt that same feeling when me and my buddy had fixed something. Make me want to start turning wrenches aging. Great job keep the videos coming

Been watching the entire process since episode 1 and have only one complain, besides reving it up in that condition) is the fact that none of the parts you took off was really properly cleaned, degreased, derusted, regreased before reinstalling. Still, a great achievement and a good job. Enjoyed watching it! All the best in the rest of the job! Greetings from Serbia!
Thank you Mesic, admitably she is a dirty girl 🛠👍🏼
Well done fellas grand effort.

Thank you 👍
As I say about mine, it only makes a noise because you put it in there:-)) Excellent result.
Top job. Very entertaining. Can’t wait for the next set of vids. 👍👍
Well done lads certainly blew some cobwebs out the old girl 😀 looking forward to see the project move forward 👍
Thank you Nick!!! : )
Cobwebs, sparks and the lot of it!!
Thanks,

Absolutely amazed you got that running with the amount of guesswork regarding valve and ignition timing. Good thing about Fords from that era is that they are so simple and only need to be ‘near enough’ to spark up. After 40 odd years in the trade some of your working practises made me cringe but at the end of the day it’s a “well done” from me. Enjoy the adventures and heartbreaks of the ongoing resurrection . Get a helicoil into #1 exhaust and clean out the oil spray bar on the camshaft before it clogs up again and wrecks the cam. Can’t wait for episode 9
The Capri gods are smiling down you guys, absolutely fantastic work, yeah tell us your paypal address for some project money
** I have donated fella !
The capri Gods LOL!!! Yes, i was surprised this capri was up on offer on ebay for several months until i decided to give the seller a call..
Being a left-hand drive, i think naturally, it put a load of UK capri enthusiast off..
I thought it was perfect as a project, especially the engine and it's potential as a carburettor 'test bench'.
We are sorting the Paypal donation link this evening, and as soon as it is ready, it will be added in the description area of the video.
Thank you for your encouraging support Jeff!!
