  • Before Rob and Michelle Tetrault’s son, Alexandre, was born, they had never heard of congenital #Cytomegalovirus
If it weren't for a late ultrasound, Alexandre’s #CMV infection likely never would have been caught. Because of early identification and intervention, they were given the opportunity to start treatment and put therapies in place that would drastically improve their child’s outcomes.
Today, Alexandre is doing exceptionally well, but there are so many more children who are missed. They go on to lose their hearing, their vision, or worse, and parents are often left without answers. This is why we need universal CMV screening.
SUPPORT BILL 214 - Manitoba currently implements a targeted newborn CMV screening program, but legislation has been proposed that would make universal CMV screening mandatory across the province. If you are a Manitoban, tell your local legislators it is time to #screen4cmv
