    For car show, it's a 2. I recently owned a 2017 GTS. It's a great all rounder but it really doesn't hold very much stuff and the rear seat is cramped.

      I agree. I'm a 991.1 owner but never even understood the appeal of the macan. As someone who owned a q5 before although it drives better than the Audi it's has less space for cargo and people as well as costing alot more. Again and again the macan has shown that it can cannot go up a dirt hill without its front axle overheating and falling back to rwd. Compare this to the Audi it's based off which had a mechanical torsen center diff the macans driveline seems like a downgrade. Even more disappointing to know it inherited absolutely none of the capability from its bigger brother as all cayennes still come standard with a center locking differential. Its Porsches absolute worst product compared to its competetion. And the only Porsche which feels like it's half-assed imo.

    These (and the new GTS) are the best daily drivers ever made.
    These are the pinnacle. The new one will not be as special.

    Love this gen of Macans. As soon as my '14 Lexus RX350 dies (which won't be for a while lol) I'm absolutely getting a GTS or Turbo Macan as a replacement to compliment my 991.2 TT.

    For this generation the S was still running the old 3.0 turbo from Gen 1. Only the GTS and turbo got the 2.9

    Nice but overpriced imo, the cayanne is better but also overpriced.

    I currently have a ‘18 Macan Turbo and a ‘24 Boxster S. I’ve owned 986, 987, and 981 Boxsters and Caymans and 993 and 996 Carreras. The Macan isn’t a sports car but it is a fast, comfortable, great handling compact SUV. I’ve owned many sport sedans (Audi S3, S4, BMW 135i, M3, M5) in the past and the Macan is far more practical as a daily driver than any of them.

      What makes a Macan more practical than a compact/midsize sports sedan such as the M3 / M5? Is it purely due to its ground clearance or it has something else? The Macan is arguably smaller inside than either of the sports sedan.

    • @MyCarfinder
      @MyCarfinder 9 месяцев назад +1

      Larger trunk capacity than either M3 or M5. More ground clearance. Easier for me to get in and out of the Macan. Easier to see over traffic ahead. Better suited to carrying my ski gear and luggage for trips to the mountains. It’s a Porsche 😉

      @@MyCarfinder thanks for the reply! Agree with everything you mentioned except the trunk space. The Macan might have more vertical truck space and better access but the total truck volume may actually be smaller than the M5.
      I’ve had couple Macans as loaners and was surprised to find out how insanely easy it is to get in and out of the vehicle!

    • @MyCarfinder
      @MyCarfinder 9 месяцев назад +1

      The M3 and M5 have 13 cu ft of trunk space. The Macan has 17.6 cu ft behind the second row seats.

    Good review if these cars float your boat. I got a loaner of a Macan from Porsche Reading (England) while my Cayman 987 was in for some work. It was very nippy with really good auto 'box but the sound was very muffled and only upon max acceleration did it sound good. I think Macan was definitely quicker than my 987 but in the end what's speed but it's the engagement that really counts. I mean a lot of electric cars today would eat most ICE cars. Keep up great show PCA.

    Is it a real 911 Boxter 6 or a VW narrow V6 ? I looked it up and I’m shocked a car of the Marquee would use VW motors 😵‍💫

    I would like to suggest you do a video on the death of Porsche as we know it. The rapid transformation of Porsche to a EV only car company is sad from my view. I’m wondering if anything can be done to stop or slow down the insanity of woke green net zero madness. I’ve been trying to find a new 911 GTS to buy and there’s nothing in dealer inventory I can find - but hundreds of Taycans are sitting on the lots rotting away as customers aren’t buying them. Thoughts?

    • @PorscheClubofAmerica

      The next few years will indeed be interesting. I'm sure Porsche is the last to want a technology to lead to their demise. Hopefully EVs will fund continued development of 2 door sports cars as the Cayenne did in the 2000s.

    I have a 2018 Macan S in volcano grey with 21" sport classics, PDLS+, the 360 view cameras, blacked out window trim and roof bar, and garnet red interior. I like the first gen taillights much more than the macans lightbar on newer models, and all i need is carplay so the larger screen wasn't worth buying the refresh. Also, the .1 PDLS+ are probably my favorite headlights on any porsche. It makes the car look newer than it is. To solve the fun factor and lack of sport chrono, i added the AWE touring exhaust and intake, as well as the Cobb stage 1 tune. Adding the exhaust changed the entire character of the car. People at cars and coffee love it. It sounds like a machine gun shifting and has a beautiful tone throughout the rev range. I plan to do coilovers next year to give it better handling.

    who cares.. SUVs are not even Porsches... :) I had a Cayenne loaner for a day, and it was said it is the sportiest SUV of them all... well, coming from an actual Porsche, I thought the steering wheel isn't even connected to the wheels... lol, wtf. OK, by all means, if you need a car with a Porsche badge on it, go get one...

    • @SCraig-Handsome

      Isn’t that what the air suspension is for though? You can use it as a SUV in the winter when you’re going through 2 feet of snow or in the summer and it feels like you’re in a 911.
      There’s 5 different settings which differ by 50mm? So you can be really low to the ground so you don’t really need a Cayenne and a 911… the Macan does it all? Also I think the Cayenne Coupe is the same

    • @Baerchenization
      @Baerchenization 9 месяцев назад

      @@SCraig-Handsome How does an air suspension mitigate that the steering wheel is not connected to the wheels? Dude, it is a fat cow, an SUV, it can never be "sporty", only because it is high-powered... a Porsche is, or used to be, a sports car. Now most Porsches sold are not sports cars. That is not good or bad, only, SUVs are not sports cars... they are not Porsches in the traditional sense therefore, but of course marketing lets Porsche SUVs bask in the shine of their sports car kin... pretty clever marketing, isn't it, selling you a VW with a Porsche badge and voila, the average family man can feel a little bit Porsche, as well, for a Porsche premium, of course, which people are happy to pay, because YOLO ;)

      @@Baerchenization All I can tell you is BMW and other luxury brands are doing the same thing… with Globalization a lot more people are interested in buying luxury brands and vice versa so you have more Luxury Sports SUVs on the road than anything else.
      Not to mention changes in Real Estate, Wealth and Social Media Advertising strategies all contributing.
      Look around… you will see a 19-Year Old influencer driving a Macan or Cayenne… that person also has a 911 and a M3 in the garage
      I’ve heard the term a 911 on stilts… it’s not your typical Yukon or ‘74 Blazer that’s for sure

    • @SCraig-Handsome
      @SCraig-Handsome 9 месяцев назад

      I see your point about the VW Engine… but it’s a modified engine for Audi and Porsche. It sounds similar to what BMW did with the B58 / 48

    • @Baerchenization
      @Baerchenization 9 месяцев назад

      @@SCraig-Handsome Ok, I don't want to shit over the Cayenne or Cayman.. I have a philosophical issue with them since forever, since I was a little kid, which would be ca 20 years before there was such a thing. Like I would never get an AMG, BRABUS etc... because e.g an S class Mercedes is a luxury car, it is about refinedness etc - so putting 1000 horses in to an S class to make it go like a 911 is conceptually idiotic and can never work anyway - the sheer masses of an S class lol... so something is clearly going astray in the mind of an AMG S class buyer... they want the "biggest most comfy car" and also the invincible rocket... it is ill-conceived and dumb, because there is no 3 tonne sports car. Most BRABUS buyers are trying to compensate for something, obviously... and so do Cayenne turbo S and Lambo SUV buyers. The aspiration to buy a "sports" SUV is ill-conceived. Somehow marketing has sold some poor sods on the idea of "hey, I would like to have a sports car, but cannot have one because family blabla, and so I got 2 in 1.." No, you didn't, duh. Get an S500 and a Boxster or 911, not a Cayenne turbo S.
