I finally figured out this year to tape one end of the string to the table! It usually takes my class about an hour from start to finish to make the necklaces. I use curling ribbon and it doesn’t fray :)
I do fruit loop necklaces at the end of the day and allow an hour. I use yarn and tape the end for stringing and I tape the other end to their table. I give each student a paper with 10 ten frames and a cup of cereal. They have to lay out all fruit loops before stringing. I allow them to eat some while working. Of course who knows if they get 100, but it's fun! We had a 100th day fashion show this year. Students modeled a T-shirt they made with 100 items. You are an amazing first year teacher and seem so organized! I look forward to your videos.
I’m late to the party but fruit loop necklaces are a classic but I’ve learned to use lanyard string-it’s plasticy and can’t fray! You just cut and pre-tie and end. I love to see you go all in in your first year! 😃
Thank you - going all-in, that's a good description! haha :) That's a great idea - will definitely keep that in mind for the future!! Thanks, Mellie! :)
Great job on all the activities and your commitment to your students. They are so lucky to have you as their teacher. What do you expect to incorporate or eliminate next year?
Rebecca Comunale Thank you! I will mostly keep things the same. I will do the trail mix snack (10 each of 10 different items) instead of the Fruit Loop necklaces. And I will make a slide to display to keep track of which teams will be in the various locations during each rotation. But other than those 2 things, I think I will keep all of the same activities!
1st year teacher lessons. 🤗I’m surprised your team didn’t clue you in on the tricks. I use laces from lakeshore, tape it to table. Make a template of 10 frames so they have 100. Don’t let them eat it! It’s a treat for home. So is the trail mix. You have 30 more 100 days to find your faves!
I’m a 4th grade teacher and at my former school, my class would help on 100’s day with a kindergarten class. We’d pair a little with a 4th grader and it was so awesome to see them take on the leadership roles. This way we had a lot of extra hands for those froot loop necklaces, lol. Just a suggestion. :) it was always one of my kiddos favorite memories. You did a great job!
My kids make the "Froot Loop" necklaces with pipe cleaners (chenille stems/fuzzy sticks) and it has been amazing 3 pipe cleaners per student twisted together and twist the opposite end so they don't fall off. Kids first fill up a 100 chart then I give them the necklace to start putting on the Froot Loops . It has made all the difference and my kids say it 's the best day ever!
You are the cutest!!! Such a fun 100th day of school! You're right on with Jan 79!!!
Thank you!! :) January was a long year but we made it!! ;)

Yes, I do! :)

Oh, that's a great idea!! Will definitely have to look into that for next year. Thanks for sharing that idea, Rebecca! :)

Good idea!!
You can buy plastic threading needle they are amazing for small hands to thread beads and Froot Loops.
Froot wasn’t spelled incorrectly. That is how the cereal is spelled on the box.
Rose Dinsmore I ended up looking it up after I posted the video. Sure enough it is! Never would have guessed! 😂
How did you make your hair gray lol??
Maddy Kalkandis baby powder, dry shampoo, and hairspray! :)
The froot loop cereal is spelled with two o's the counting sheet is spelled correctly as in Froot Loop cereal not fruit.
You're right! I didn't know that (obviously, haha). Thanks! :)
Instead of string you could use dental floss, that way the disgusting wetness would've been better because the floss is waterproof.
cairis k good idea, never wouldn’t thought of that!
Can you recored while you give in lessons, it will be so nice
I won't be doing that for the sake of my students' privacy. It would be fun, though! :)
