    Hey your content is top tier, never understood Pillar pages so well. But what would help even more is if you provided a real example such as the pillar page on your site, can you provide a link to this please?

    To some extent I start to understand why internal links are in the checklists of SEO inspection before publishing the page. I am totally new to SEO and I havent understood in full the playrules in SEO. Allow me to ask you question. The pillar page you introduced, is it sort of table of contents to which the pages should link to? I understand its function, but somehow i feel like pilar page is kind of keywords-stuffed page? Although it doesn't fit quite right to me to say so.. Please help me understand better. Many thanks before!

    I have watched mutiple very long videos about this pillar page concept. You have explained it the most clear in the least amount of time! What is unclear that I am trying to figure out for certain is as follows. Step one: Make a "pillar page" for me that is a free commercial roof inspection In that Pillar post (which is a WEB PAGE not on my main website menu just in the background correct?), I go on to mention in the pillar page what to look for in an asphalt shingle roof (link to sub topic, which is a BLOG POST OR ANOTHER WEBPAGE??!) and then briefly tile roof with (link to subtopic, again webpage or blog post?!). MY QUESTION that I need to know for certain to get started is, are the subtopics webpages or blog post? I know they have to link.
    Second phase of the question: Lets say I figure out if the sub topics need to be webpages (not included in the main menu) or blog post, either way linking to the pillar page and pillar page to them. Now I have all that set up. Now I go to hoot suite to post the links to my sub topic blogs to all the social media outlets. These post are exerts of my subtopic heading in the title, with a link to that sub topic on my facebook for example. Again same question, am I linking back to a sub topic blog post and in that a link back to the pillar page???
    Do I just post on social media the pillar topic like I would post the sub topics on social media?
    If the subtopics are also webpages and not blog posts, I still link the webpage to the main pillar webpage but then what do I do? Make a short blog post linking to the sub topic webpage which then intern links to the pillar webpage? Then take that blog post and post that title link to facebook/ twitter ect. Trying to drive traffic from FB>blog post>subtopic>pillar topic?
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    I may be over thinking it but its a lot of work (do it right the first time kind of thing) I am just confused on the technical route we are trying to drive traffic. from social post to webpage or blog post and are we suppose to link both pillar topic and sub topic on our social media outlets?
    third and final
    If I want to rank for commercial roof repairs plano tx. I would create that as the pillar title with links to many sub topics related to commercial roofing in Plano tx.
    I also want to rank for commercial roof repairs arlington Tx. Do I create a similar (not exact wording copy) pillar topic with similar sub topics just for Arlington?
    If you could please help me answer these 3 questions I would greatly appreciate the help. I am trying to avoid running circles in the drive way. Most of my competition is doing the old seo content so I am more confused than ever.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for this! Would you say that the Pillar content is a little more static or long-term than the internal link content? How often would you recommend updating the Pillar content?

    • @smamarketing
      @smamarketing  6 лет назад +1

      I believe all content should have long-term value. But yes, the Pillar content should be strategic and connected to a business goal. I use these pages as a bridge from Top of the Funnel content to Bottom of the Funnel content. As far as updating, whenever you have a piece of relevant content, that could impact your end goal, add it.

    Thank you for the explanation! :) Is the content of the pillar page shown directly on the page OR is it about the email subscription to exchange the content? (*a question from the beginner)

    Why we link blogs to (blogs -> pilar) pilar page and not the opposite? . (Pilar -> blogs) ? (I mean , a pilar is just a guide , something basic that discuss some subtopics briefly, a blog is more in depth , am i wrong?)

    Hi! I have a question. How do cluster topics/pillar page relationship with different sales funnel stages? Thanks!

    • @smamarketing
      @smamarketing  5 лет назад +1

      Typically a pillar page would do deep into one specific pain point. This could address the full-funnel or just the top and middle of the funnel. When building this strategy, you want to look at where you can educate you persona and what next step you want them to take.
      Are you just educating?
      Do you want to drive conversions?
      If so what type of conversion?
      Map out the full funnel and look for common themes you can build a cluster around and a pillar page that delivers your goal. Hope that helps!

    Hello,
    thank you very much for the lesson. Very cool.
    An interesting question .... ready?
    With local activities If I have to work on local keywords the pillar will always have short KW with high volumes and subsequently they will be more long tail or will I start directly with will I always keep local KW ?! thanks for your time and knowledge.

    👍👌Great video! Thanks for sharing. Would this work for new website? I'm not sure I understood, are the pillar pages the same as a normal webpage? Or is it that the pillar page relates to a particular page in a website? Thank you 😊

    • @smamarketing
      @smamarketing  5 лет назад +2

      So there are a few schools of thought. A number of sites create a new page as their pillar page. I have found that you can build your core website pages using this same principle. For a new site, I'd focus on your core pages first and build out from there.

    Great video. Thank you! I have a technical question: So would we use the PAGES to create the Pilar Page, or a BLOG Post Page for the Pillar Page? And if we. use a Pages Page, can we link out to Blog Post pages from the Pilar page? Thank You!🙏👍

    • @smamarketing
      @smamarketing  2 года назад +1

      We typically create pillars as pages and then link out to supporting blog articles.

    Question, should you link to product pages or product line pages at all? Thanks!

    • @smamarketing
      @smamarketing  4 года назад +1

      You totally can, and I would if the are relevant to the pillar page themselves. This help with internal linking and creating a semantic connection.

    is there a more ... forgive the word "quick" or a recognisable way/triggers to look for....that one could look at a link and identify HQ for without a big assessment of what a HQ link is? anything to look for that stands out? Or am I just in another world asking this ( I am tired ) but it just came to me...
    Kind of like how someone who couldn't identify different wheels or packages on a particular lineup of vehicles or one vehicle with different packages to some it could always look the same if its a Red SUV. .. but for those who could tell the difference in the brakes even or accents on the vehicle that its a higher or lower model easily..... could learn more of what to look for ... is what I am kind of getting at . if that even makes sense ! hah. Thank you

    I liked the video but it would have been better if you would have use a different semantic group outside SEO, something more simple and known for most of people, since the logical pilars to you are not logigal to everyone else in such topic

    Great Video and My question are Can we give Internal links to my related supportive posts from the Pillar page?

    • @smamarketing
      @smamarketing  5 лет назад +2

      Yes. You want to add internal links to supportive content. That will help the crawlers with context and help the user better understand the concept.

    GREAT VID! I have a question about URL structure for this method. Would you create a category post for the pillar page, and then have all the other blogs pointing to the same category? for example www.example.com/seo/backlinks OR www.example.com/seo/localseo
    Thanks! and keep up the great work!

    • @smamarketing
      @smamarketing  4 года назад

      I typically create a main site page with the topic in the URL and then create blog content with a similar structure.
      You are thinking about it correctly and I think this organized method will do very well and make it easier for the crawlers.
