You reminded me of the Irish made Spalding irons, that were put together with threaded heads and shafts. The threads were handed so that after a few hits the head unwound from the shaft!

i still have the same cobra oversize irons from 1995 all i do is change the shafts & grips as i get older my swing gets slower. if i had miura irons forged by a master it still would not make me a better golfer. Not that it makes me right just find a set that you can hit on to the cut & prepared & stick with it.

My missus and I have just started to play and pay a yearly contract fee to play as much as we like mon-fri at our local municipal (southport links) so play 3 times a week, yes we would like to play different courses but the prices round here are huge so this is the best way for us.

The Callaway Edge 10-piece golf club set from Costco is a great deal.

Price of golf, My local course has just been take on by a charity, Get Golfing, very interesting group and our membership is now only £850 per year, incredible value. The course is improved, we get 21 days advance booking, 18 holes 6800 yards, 120 year old course, practice ground, and we are in the SE where membership is normally £1800. I don’t know why they are so cheap, but hey i am not arguing. Green fees are a bit like booking an air flight, the rate changes day by day and time of tee off, but circa £35, so membership is a no brainier. With regards equipment, if just starting out, get advice from a local professional or experienced player. EBAY and equivalents can be great but also a rip off, new clubs, direct to consumer or perhaps Wilson which are great value.

Podcast is great. A small comment, the light seems too strong or too direct. The glare, reflections and shadow under Matt's cap is very distracting. Maybe a diffuser would help.

There are ridiculously cheap ways to get into golf. As a kid I searched the metal scrap piles at the dump and often found one or two clubs a month and pretty exclusively played on the lawn around the house. Maybe could have played on a course but the extra chores I did was to work off all the broken windows on our house 😅
I hit rocks into the woods till the club fell apart.
Didn’t seem like much but I ended being the captain of my high school golf team all 4 years and now a 3 handicap. Practice is practice
Cheeky way to not pay greens fees. Get a part time job at a golf course that offers complimentary rounds to employees 😁
Great pod! Really enjoyable listen when mowing greens in the morning 👍🏼👍🏼

As a club member who pays £1500 a year I get to enjoy all the facilities practice area and a well maintained course . Also we have reciprocal courses we can play for a nominal fee so we can get the best of both worlds
