Hey man cool video! I’m new to drawing and just bought a couple sketchbooks for different reasons but I bought one to sketch people and things when I go out and about. My question is how do I practice sketching if I’m new?

The short answer is to just start drawing and not over think it.
But my process when I took up drawing seriously many years ago was to find a nice seat in a cafe and just sketch what's in front of me (draw what is in front of me, is an ongoing motto I live by). Back then I wasn't too picky what I sketched so that worked out for me. However, as the years went by, i found what I liked to draw was people. Fortunately, I have some time taking public transit to work these days where I have this opportunity. I usually make a bee line to people who are napping on the subway (Toronto subways are a lot smoother for drawing than buses) and find a seat near them and I start.
So to wind my answer up, you just need to draw consistently...everyday. Put in 30 minutes everyday if you can and before you know it, the 30 mins. will zoom by and you'll be putting in more time.
      Hope that helps.
      Good luck with your drawing!

if you're shy about sketching in public or don't know where to start, just google "sketches" and go to images.
start copying everything you see on there. It will give you some inspiration too.
you can then move on to still life and just draw stuff around your house. kitchens, bathrooms, tool sheds have all sorts of objects to practice with.
and then you can transition to sketching in public and start drawing people just like WIl here.

Good answer. I find sketching from life adds a bit more personality to a drawing and trains your eye (and sensibilities) to draw what's important to the artist. Drawing from reference photo creates an environment where you're copying and that tends to produce a drawing that has no hierarchy and life...a good way to start (and perhaps interject your drawing practice with this to train hand/eye coordination along the way) but I'd definitely try to draw from life.

how many hours a day do you draw?

There are days where I don't draw at all and other days where I put in a couple of hours. It averages out.
However, I feel I'm not putting enough time into my art and need to be more disciplined and draw everyday without exception.
