My first ocarina was a really cheap plastic one. I took it hiking and camping and everywhere I went. It sounded cheap and airy, and was made of a brittle plastic, so eventually it was dropped once too often on a hard surface and the mouthpiece broke, but I enjoyed it so much that my wife bought me a fairly nice ceramic one, which, frankly, plays better than I do, but I'm afraid to take it places. I want to get another plastic ocarina to carry around, one that I can just stick in my pocket and not worry about, one that won't break easily and if it does, or gets lost, won't cost a lot to replace, but better sounding than my first. That's why I watched your vid.
Feel for you I accidentally broke a $700+ whistle from Scotland on first river outing , So now I tie them off, glue an eyelet to it with a parachute chord necklace(cord necklace excellent for fire starting in emergency) Don’t cut a corner with music she loves you to much, we want something we can grow into so don’t spare the expens Get out and keep rocking
Thanks for breaking this down for us. I appreciate the advice, pros and cons for both. It sounds like the advantages for the plastic ones and basically lower maintenance, and the ceramic ones for better sound and longevity.
Lol at first I was trying to listen to the acoustics of either ocarina, but it became obvious when I heard your fingers tapping the ceramic one. It makes a distinct high pitched "ting" noise. :P Nice video, though. They both sound really great.
In theme with this video, would you consider making another discussing the history of the ocarina, why you began playing it, and so on? I think it would be interesting. :) Cheers!
I've actually already been working on a video on the history of the ocarina! I'll probably make another video on why I started, thanks for the recommendations!
I have an Odami Plastic ocarina, as a beginner i definitely recommend a plastic one so you don't get afraid of the ocarina breaking if you drop it for accident
When I get better at playing, I want to get a ceramic Zelda replica. I have the plastic Kokiri Edition from Songbird currently and it's a really nice ocarina, but as you said in this video, condensation builds up quickly in the sound hole and becomes an issue. Sometimes just five minutes into me playing, I notice the sound degrading and so I have to stop and clean it out. It's a bit annoying, but I still love my ocarina to death. Sometimes I want to just keep playing and not stop!
Большое спасибо вам за видеоурок! Не видела ничего похожего на русском языке, поэтому решила потренировать знание английского и наткнулась на Вас. Спасибо за чудесное видео и за прелестную игру на окарине. Это было волшебно! Thank you so much❤
I own three ocarinas two ceramic and one plastic one from STL and I love them but I don't play my ceramic ones every often because of fear of dropping and breaking them.
I'm starting to play an ocarina. I bought a Night by Noble (plastic) and also a TNG (ceramic) and another (ceramic) from an unknown brand. What I notice is that with the plastic one the air escapes more easily from inside, and suddenly I find that I'm left without breath and I have to breathe quickly. On the other hand, with the ceramic ones I always have all the air I inhale, and I don't stay halfway... I suppose one must decide on one or the other, to control the air correctly Does that also happen to you?
All ocarinas require a different breath pressure, but none are better or worse. As you said, it mostly comes down to personal preference. I prefer ocarinas that require a somewhat medium pressure :)

Helpful! Thanks, man
Thanks for the insight! I am searching for my first ocarina. It probably will be ceramic, though I'm not sure which brand yet.
Honestly it was easy to tell which one was which one, I do indeed like the ceramic one better
Instantly recognized the accent. Nice skill!
Haha dankjewel
Nice comparison, I have a Focalibk plastic Ocarina:)
Nice!
FINALLY someone actually says ocarina correctly.
:)
That's debatable haha but I agree
OMG WHY AM I JUST SEEING THIS NOW?! thanks a lot for the video man🥲
Nice video broou i hope that you will grow in a cercany future👍
What's with that mischievous smile at minute 3:03??? :)

I thing you should buy a ocarina
true
Both sound good but the ceramic ocarina sounded better.
I agree and i knew actually which one it was lol nice
Nice!
Cool
I find the mouthpiece of the Night by Noble too wide. The other model is more comfortable to blow.

@@OcarinaBoy Thanks for the explanation!
hello ocarina boy :D
So... would you say that cleaning a ceramic ocarina with demineralised water would be ok?
Any ides where I could buy a night by noble Ocarina? Amazon doesn't ship them to my country.
No, I wouldn't know, sorry, but there are probably other great plastic ocarinas that you could find!
Thx bro
Yes very goet
you should try pipe cleaner instead of paper
My brother ( who is older than me ) asked me to borrow my ocarina, he broke in minutes and i lost my ocarina forever.
Ouch that sucks, did you get a new one though?
Night by noble is shrill
Not an Ohkerina, Okarina. For the love of all that is holy mate please you are killing me.
Oh well, tomato tomato
