Empire supporter pennywise was actually given “baby” features to give him a childish, playful look. The bts feature on the dvd goes into detail about this. Not saying it’s that specific baby, but babies were definitely an inspiration
Empire supporter - That was actually one of many photos they went with to get or inspire the shape of the head. That may not have been the actual ONE baby used, but it was certainly one OF them. I’m sure they used many different baby photos. I don’t see how you know that the baby in that photo was that man’s actual baby (although it is possible...we just don’t know)
Wait a minute.... The Pennywise at the end was the one they created in this whole video??? I thought it was just a reference video for when they were sculpting Pennywise. Wow, great job guys. Ya had me goofed
There's something both weirdly hilarious and creepy about the facial expressions Bill is making with all those prosthetics on. Really cool to see the process that went into making his look!
As it was director Andy Muschietti who came up with how Pennywise looks he has the original sketches. He has posted sketches and artwork on his Instagram since chapter 1 of IT. Worth looking on there. Also he has said he will probably bring out a book of his IT sketches.
I really didn't get the (hydrocephalus design?) head when I first saw it. But after watching the film, I thought it worked great. It gave a forced perspective vibe like he is always leering over you, no matter how far away, as well as an anticipation. Like watching someone blowing up a balloon, that you know is about to pop at any second.
@@intheredcold9216 The director said at once point his design is kinda convoluted. He's based on a doll, of a real clown. Pennywise the Dancing Clown was a real guy, there was a doll of that clown that terrified a child, and pennywise took on the appearance of that doll. Hence the odd proportions and cracked porcelain look of his skin on his head and hands. Typically those old dolls had porcelain heads, and hands and a stuffed body. I'm not 100% sure if this is true, but it makes a lot of sense. Another theory is that he based his appearance on the painted side of the Pennywise show car that is seen down in his hole, where he does the silly dance. It's painted on wood and the paint has shrunk and cracked, and he was painted with silly proportions on the cart. Either could be true, I like them both... but the second one has evidence in the actual film, so I believe that one more.
Wait! Did it say “Skarssard” instead of Skarsgård? 01:43 😂 I bet they didn’t make that spelling mistake before filming IT: Part Two. 😏 Bill is the star goddammit! 🤩
The movie made such huge mistakes in relying on Pennywise mutating so much when Bill Skarsgard is scarier than any of those mutations. The scene with Vicki is easily his best kill because of how unsettling he is in it.
That Hasan a dangerous look for a clown who feeds on the fear of children, he appears so much like them in a way, that kids will trust him. I think that’s what they were going for with this new design of Pennywise. I love this Pennywise, Bill did an amazing job
I always wonder if I was a kid if I would have found this version of Pennywise just as frightening as Tim Curries. As an adult, I think Tim’s looks far scarier - but then that may just be down to fear nostalgia- if that’s a thing
This version of penniwise is simply fucking awful.. whoever designed this needs to be fired. There's nothing scary , original or even good about the whole concept.. uninspiring and sad .. bill skarsgard is a terrible actor who brings NOTHING to the role.. the whole remake is just a bad brain fart
Love this so much! Can’t wait to see my clown boy in part two.
Pennywise is *scarier* and he’s *angrier* in part two which makes me excited.
He misses them which makes Pennywise much more scarier
i love how they are using a photo of a baby as a reference for making pennywise
I thought that was his son...
I just waited for a goony comment like this saying thats the pattern for Pennywise when it's obviously a foto of the artists son :-D
I knew it! I've been saying this since the 90s, babies are evil clowns!

That laughing at the end is literally the most disturbing thing I have ever seen
Can’t wait for part 2 in September!

Wow, great job guys. Ya had me goofed
Such details, I love it!!

Thanks for sharing this stuff Gillis! You guys are great!
Imagine being skilled enough to do this job - would be the best job ever.
I was kinda hoping for some concept art and sketches.

I thought the design was more a nod to his alien origins.

Yoo we just watched his eye move in real time. That was terrifying
Amazing skills and video (though that repetitive music drove me insane).
Can’t wait for Chapter 2 of IT!
Alec, did your shop do Chapter 2? Would be messed up if y’all didn’t. But that’s show biz!
They probably did it too! But maybe they can't show it yet.
Can't wait to see the new work too! If that was the case.
LOVED THIS!!!
Hey Kris! Love your videos, when are you going to be doing another tremmors and flinch video???
Smooth Tube thanx! Flinch will hopefully be making more videos soon but don’t think I Tremmors will again lol maybe one of these days!
Tbh pennywise is such inspiration of like art to me cause I've drawn IT when I try to make the sketch of IT better so it makes me happy in a way. (:
Thank you for sharing this! :D
PLEASE, ANYONE. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MUSIC IS IT?
1:15 the bust of bill on the left looks like if Steve Buscemi and Steve-o had a love child

Am I the only one who thinks Pennywise (2017) is cute? Not like attractive cute... but baby cute
That Hasan a dangerous look for a clown who feeds on the fear of children, he appears so much like them in a way, that kids will trust him. I think that’s what they were going for with this new design of Pennywise. I love this Pennywise, Bill did an amazing job
The innocent look is part of his design
Is pennywise a robotic robot👍👍
