I think parents have a lot of choices to make, and Phil chose to be an extremely free range parent to his “kids”, making it so he’s more of a friend than a dad. He’s still their parent legally and in the storyline, but they see him as more of a older brother or friend.

I’m perfectly fine with Techno’s version of Canon having Philza as a fierce friend instead of a father, and Philzas canon having him as a son. Both are awesome and I think that’s fine to do lol. Maybe it’s a mix of both, Phil had another son that died (I mean Wilbur technically and he’s really dead and techno is alive so grief “son”?) and techno knows Phil is just confused or something lol.

Phil and Techno have imo the best dynamic on the server. even the voices love phil and I do think the crows also like techno, so even both the canonical explanations for their chats like the other one too. it just feels right
