  • These routines are absolutely genius. I love how he speaks his mind too. The greatest part about this is he probably tilts people just from being himself and we all have that right. Damn this was so good.

I've said this in a comment before CK Louis said that when George Carlin would prepare for one of his specials for HBO he would start fresh. The material George wrote for any of his 14 specials was enough for a book maybe even 2 books. George wrote some books over his nearly 80 years on this planet, but I digress. George wrote over a year's worth of material to use in these specials he did.

If his family is anything like him I'm sure they are very lenient. I'm almost positive, if asked "can i use your material on RUclips after you die" his response would have been "hell no!" Who would want to listen to my shit over and over for the next decade, more importantly you're an idiot! Go come up with your own lame jokes. If you weren't an idiot you would have waited tell I was already dead! Then you could have posted everything I ever said no problem, it's not like I'd be able to sue you, I'm already dead!

George Carlin will be missed as long as I’m alive. He always made me remember my own childhood, the bubble wrap everyone started raising their children in (which is how we got such sensitive skinned younger people), voiced the things I think but don’t say venting FOR me, and asked the same common sense questions I wonder about constantly. I always wished I’d been able to meet him.

You can be a patriotic American, love this country, love what it stands for and should stand for, and its potential. And also recognize the hypocrisy. That is what just drive me crazy these days. Like you can't criticize our county without being labeled Anti-America. No people. Being able to criticize our country, and want to improve upon it, is literally what makes this country what it is. People who don't think that, they are the ones who are Anti-American.

That summed him up pretty well actually. He didn't waste a lot of time explaining things like racism is stupid, rather he just pointed hay! You're pretty stupid aren't ya? You just hung all your slaves, now who's gonna get the skid marks outta your drawers tomorrow? Didn't quite think that one through did ya? He'd approach it something like that.
Person I thought his approach was very effective. Let's just put the whole morality part to the side for now cause frankly I'm not drunk enough for that. Instead let's focus on the fact that, in your superior logic due to being the superior race somehow seem to have missed a few things you person might be interested in. Namely your fat @$$ now has some work to do! At least until you get to the slave market. But wait! Instead of hangings why don't you take that new slave money and light it on fire? You'll still be out the money but you would have been able to stay home tomorrow and you wouldn't be smelling your own underwear in the morning.

I can't find a source, but I remember his daughter Kelly Carlin said his note for sets included how long the crowd would laugh at a joke. He timed out how long he wouldn't talk. He knew exactly the laugh it would get. It may be just for specials after touring on the material but still...... Genius.

Just a pet peeve, but gosh the misunderstanding of slavery and the abolishment of it is rampant in society today.
At least on the American founding, getting rid of slavery was a huge issue, and parts of the US were the first nations in the world to criminalize slavery (Massachusetts in 1783), a mere 7 years after the declaration of independence and by 1787 many other of the New England states had followed suit. Britain itself didn't abolish until 1809, though Britain undoubtedly did more to physically end the global slave trade than any other nation, America was the birthplace of those ideas taking fruit. America itself didn't formally abolish until much later partially because of how the country was founded, how our system of law works, and the practicality of going through with abolition. Back then it was recognized much more as "states that are united" and not "THE United States".
I recommend looking into Thomas Sowell who has gone deep on the reality of abolition. He has done several talks and written books on this subject. In his book "The Thomas Sowell Reader" he states the following:
"Everyone hated the idea of being a slave but few had any qualms about enslaving others. Slavery was just not an issue, not even among intellectuals, much less among political leaders, until the 18th century - and then it was an issue only in Western civilization. Among those who turned against slavery in the 18th century were George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and other American leaders. You could research all of the 18th century Africa or Asia or the Middle East without finding any comparable rejection of slavery there. But who is singled out for scathing criticism today? American leaders of the 18th century."
It's so easy to get duped by not being given the full story. We used to have pride as Americans for being the first in the world to recognize the horror of slavery for what it is, and fighting one of the bloodiest wars in history to cement its death. Now it seems in fashion to criticize America for having slaves as if we could have just flipped a switch, given all slaves the skills, ability, and capital to prosper after being freed, and convince everyone who saw nothing wrong with slavery (or were massively financially invested in it) that what they were doing was a horrible sin.

I love that contradictory comment he made about Clinton aswell 😂 'Least he's honest about being full off shit'... Basically like saying at least he's truthful about the lies he tells 😂

His bit on advertising was genius and he delivered it perfectly. This also came out in 1999, so his bit about reelecting Clinton was a lot more relevant then. Bob Dole, who ran against him was using that tag line "I'm an honest man!" throughout his campaign. - Also, I've noticed quite a few youtube content creators talking about youtube cracking down and wanting to move to Patreon. It's sad that it's come to that, but perhaps if enough creators leave, youtube will get the hint. We'll see.

Most the words don't reflect the product or make sense in this clip he's pointing out how much they they use long flashy words like the 'free' 'complimentary' 'bonus' gift.. a 'classic' 'deluxe' 'custom' 'designer' 'luxury' 'prestige' 'high quality' 'premium' 'select' 'gourmet'... pocket flashlight 🔦 😂👌 what a ledge!! Love these reactions to stand up keep them coming 👊
