When I worked as a C.N.A in a nursing home, or when I was younger and worked in restaurants, I much preferred being busy than not. We didnt invent time, we just invented the name and put it into a managable framework.
Which is clearly whats hes really talking about.
Im just surprised he framed it that ways cus there is no doubt in my mind that he knows this.
The concept of time exists and have always existed outside and even without us.
If its just a construct made up in the human mind, then no time coulve passed before man and time would stop after we're gone.
    This is axiomatically not true.
Its still an abstract concept tho, so just like he says, you cant "have it".
You cant give it or take it.
Even if I kidnapped you I would have taken your freedom, but I would not have taken time from you.
You could make an argument that killing someone is taking time from them but even that is not really true.
You took their life from them (another very tricky concept but thats a different story) but you didnt take their time...
Cuz it wasnt theirs to begin with.
Time is a concept you *exist in,* not that *you own.*
If you drowned at sea you'd lost your life, you didnt "lose your ocean".
Its a common missconception due to the way we use language.
"youre wasting my time", "My time is to valueable" or "I dont have time for this" etc.
Every second of every minute or every day is literally shared by everything in the entire universe.
How exactly can anyone claim to own that?
What we mean when saying such things is youre preventing me from doing somthing productive IN this time that we all share.

The concept of time moves faster, if you are on autopilot. As I grow older time moves faster and it makes sence because you are on autopilot all the time. So the encourage us to do new things then you have to focus and time slows down. Psychology that actually makes sense.

George and u didn't mention it but time is different depending on ur experiences and perspective of the world too
"Soon" becomes potentially longer the older u get, for a child it is a like a minute before they get jumpy, for a 80 year old the same "soon" is a week or two(u don't give a fuck rly)
About the mayan calendar, in 100 years some1 will come and say that we misunderstood it and then it is time for the world to end again, because that is what we humans do, we are dumb fucks
Anyway, if I only had a day to live, I'd like to be bored to death the entire time, cuz time flies when u have fun

True. Carlin is correct. The basis of time is a man-made concept. It's an artificial construct. It's an arbitrary system based on the idea that events occur in a linear direction at all times. Always Forward, never back.
So who knows if the concept of Time is correct, or if it's even relevant in the grand scheme of things.

Yes, watch Death and Dying next.
Also, time does pass differently depending on what we do. We also remember it passing differently depending on what we do. Get this, if we live active lives and put a lot into our days, time seems to fly by, but when we think back on it, we remember those times lasting for a long time. Then, if we have days when pretty much nothing happens, those days crawl by slowly, but when we think back on them there isn't much of anything there to remember, so those days were short in our memories. However, one activity goes by quickly in the moment and in memory of it, and that's watching things on TV, or watching videos in general. In the moment it seems like a lot is happening, so it flies by, but then when thinking back on it, not much really happened, so it seems to have flown by in memory of it, too.

The Mayan calendar thing is always wrong. That wasn't the end of the world, that was the end of a cycle of time. There are 13 Baktuns, or 13 cycles of time. They were advanced in their measuring of time, they planned their calendar that far ahead. They studied the sun and star cycles for their way of life.

Why would you get reamed for calling him a genius? He was legitimately within the genius range of IQ so not sure who would give you crap about that statement.

Hey! Glad ya checked this out, once of my faves, old Carlin is so different. :)
If you're willing to indulge me one more time, certainly give his "Airline Announcements" a listen, one of his funniest bits that my sister and I quote back to each other all the time. XD

Funny story, I was at a Bill Burr show recently and we had to put out phones in locked pouches. I had to find a guy with a watch and ask him what time it was like a damn Pilgrim.

George was right about time being an artificial man made because dogs see in slow-motion so dogs age different from humans. Time traveling will never be possible because time is only in your mind time doesn't exist in the real world.

The perception of time is interesting, no doubt about that. But if you want something that will blow your mind check out the definition of a second, or any other unit of measurement.. see how every aspect of science is based on arbitrary so called constants..
