Steve. The first time I watched this video, I had not read the description. Did recognize this grand old man from somewhere! Thank you Mike Austin

I do not understand why this method is not taught. It is perfect for those who start after puberty. Instinctive (counterbalancing), not dangerous for the body, powerful and precise at the same time. Mike Austin was a true genius.

I think Mike Austin’s problem was that he knew too much. This is a great demonstration of his swing method, which is superb. Each movement is natural, connecting to the next in a logical way, allowing freedom of movement within the compound pivot. But have you ever tried telling someone how to ride a bicycle? I mean to describe everything anatomically, from mount to dismount. That would be hard work. In this video Mike Austin understands that his example of just doing it can no longer work because of the physical restrictions after his stroke. So he leaves us a document of great integrity. I actually found it very moving to watch this. In more ways than one!

Thanks for this video. Practiced this drill this morning and went to the driving range. Let me say this the best instructional video ever taped!!! Little to no effort in my swing now and everything falls into place. No torque on back consistent ball flight and distance.

Tried a few swings using this method and it seems much more natural and controllable than what I've learned over the years. Some of the old school videos are gold.

Truly educated man with a bachelors in physics and engineering, and doctorate in kinesiology he definitely knows how the skeletamuscular system works in the full golf swing to get more distance without throwing your back.

He certainly had that level of knowledge despite there being no proof that he ever held a single degree.

At about the 9:12 mark when says to raise the arms for more turn in the backswing about 20 degrees more turn is huge. Nowadays the teaching is to pin the bicep against the side of your chest on the backswing, keeping your bicep about nipple high. Raising your arms, getting your bicep above your nipple line is a move that creates a lot of natural freedom and ease of movement, not to mention a lot more turn in the backswing.

A lot of instructors, etc will just not accept the fact that people have different degrees of movement in joints and different flexibility.

it seems to me that mike wants the swing initiated and originating with the foot action to get the pivot action going. this different info than what i picked up from other instruction where the rotation of the body pulls the feet into the action. the mike austin swing action is different although it for the most part looks the same to the uninformed.

What is funny about the comments on this video is that a few people feel the jargon about muscles is unhelpful and therefore the video isn’t worth watching. But 10:17 those who are with an empty mind can see past Mr. Austin’s academic explanations and extract the juice that they need. He didn’t hit 515 yards knowing nothing! 10:17

4 to 10 move was right on I added 40 yds to my drives. the left knee points to 10 to intiate the downswing but you finish at 8 oclock

If you want to be a GREAT ball striker under pressure - got to know how everything works. There are plenty of GOOD ball strikers on tour but the truly GREAT ball strikers know what's happening with their swing style. Knowing what is exactly happening is what gives them the confidence and freedom under pressure to perform at their best. Hogan, Moe Norman, Woods, Etc. They know their swing inside out and why they are able to make the necessary and correct adjustments under pressure to be what they have become. Because under pressure - the feelings of your golf swing you thought you knew will betray you.

Exactly right Mike! I know so little about my swing , or should I say swings? I never know what my swing is going to be like from one swing to the next! I am still willing to learn and évolue to consistancy though .

Mike may, at times talk in medical jargon but it doesn't detract from the simplicity and effectiveness of this swing plane. It is the best swing method that I've come across, better than Hogans’ teachings because this swing suits all golfers🏌️‍♂️
