    Glad you brought this up, so many people have their heads up their arses. My 2009 Ducato value is plummeting as we speak. I live just outside the new zone in the south of London, in August I will not be able to visit my friends and family who live inside the new zone without paying the £12.50 for the privilege. My van is my daily driver too, being a 5.5metre it makes that possible, plus I can't afford a second vehicle. We are being fucked, the turnout for the protest in London last week was pathetic. Like you said, people think it's not going to affect them... but it will.
    I travel to Spain twice a year, when I leave in May this year I will have to avoid Rouen because the French have changed the crit'air class already, I have been through once on an orange crit'air certificate and now it's changed. This is the tip of the iceberg. And yes I can change my route, but I have friends in Rouen !
    Make no mistake, like you said there is NO HIDING from this.

      Share the post if you can, let's get people attention with this. All the big channels talking about motorhome shows etc and missing the point that it's going to cost £12.50 to drive them. We need a Revolution to put these MPs in there place.

    There are still viable options for those of us looking to live nomadic lifestyles and save money. There's car campers, minivan campers, there's caravans that we can tow with our hybrid or electric vehicles, etc etc. It is going to make motorhomes specifically difficult to live in but vehicular dwelling/nomadic lifestyles are still very possible. Just do your research, look into alternatives. We don't all have to give up and start renting apartments again.

    Gov are losing out too much money with EVs and Diesels paying much less tax than older diesels and petrol engines, so they need to get that from somewhere.
    Also Hydrogen engines are the way forward.
    Gov need to invest in Hydrogen to get the price down and make it worthwhile for everyone to switch to in the future.
    Engines made specifically for hydrogen can do the same amount of work as a diesel and use a similar amount (slightly less possibly)
    JCB are heavily invested into the fuel technology.

      Hi Tom. Been a while. I passed my class 1 👍
      There's a company in British Columbia that can produce no carbon fuel at a lower cost than current price. It will run all current vehicles without any modification. Government will not switch to it. It's not about emissions, it money for sure. 👍

    This is great for campers as it brings down the price of the old vans, I’ve no problem paying the fee for a few trips a year. With cheap solar panels, batteries and 4g/3g van life seems more accessible than ever - brexit has caused me far more issues.

    • @Roadshome
      @Roadshome  Год назад

      Like all things it has a good and bad side when you think about it. Yes vans will drop in price, but if people invest in building a van into a camper but can no longer visit cities in them they are left with a vehicle that has limitations. Also these will be heavily taxed in the near future. When in the grand scheme of things the same amount of vans and cars affected don't really play a large part of pollution. Pollution doesn't stay when the vehicle drives, it's released into the atmosphere and spreads world wide. So the argument of ulez in cities doesn't hold true with me. (Mark )

    I certainly relate to this. Because I was scared that my City in France would bring in a LEZ, I sold my beloved T4 California. Because I saved most of my salary for two years and could get finance, I was able to buy a Euro 6 van but I really feel for people who do not have that option. My second-hand van cost 63 000 Euro. People often say "you're so lucky, you can just take off and go where you want" - not true.

      Thank you so much for all your comments. I live in my van but still consider myself lucky that I'm not tied to one place. France Spain and Portugal are all part of the C 90 agreement so restrictions will close in but as you say the city's are small compared to the size.

    Great video. In accepting ULEZ, people have accepted paying to drive on their own roads and it’s downhill from there. The requirements for “compliant” will quickly tighten and road user charging will charge every car per mile. Geoff Buys Cars made an excellent video on this a few weeks ago.

    • @Roadshome
      @Roadshome  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. The public need to understand where it's going if this crap gets pushed through. We won't even ride a bike without a charge in times to come. Slavery to live.

    • @chevchelios8582
      @chevchelios8582 Год назад

      They are planning road user charging for 2026, I tend to think this will coincide with the introduction of digital ID & CBDC. They will have the ability to just charge your account automatically. Mass non compliance is the answer but the window of opportunity is closing rapidly.

    I’m looking at buying my first van however this Ulez, clean air zone is just putting me off. My 2015 Golf is not compliant and every time I go to London I have to pay. I wish we could boycott Ulez and clean air zone as I don’t see how this is improving the environment or our health.

      It wil be the end of vanlife. Most people in full-time vans can't afford a new vehicle. I'm very lucky to have had a house before moving into a van. Most don't even have full time jobs. 😩

      Restricted everywhere! But as France is a lot bigger you can visit lovely places avoiding the zones - I wouldn't spend my money there anyway.

    6:40 it's definitely not "just one person" that's been killed by emissions. Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah was, so far, the only person with 'air pollution' on their death certificate but the statistics show tens of thousands are being killed.
    I agree Parliament is taking the wrong approach but the problem is all too real.

    • @Roadshome
      @Roadshome  Год назад +2

      I agree also air pollution is a problem. But they have started with the little man and not at the top where the big pollution is. Business. London buses have chucked out diesel smoke for decades and that was tfl making the money. No mention of the many years they polluted the city.

    • @chevchelios8582

      Nox & particulates have been falling across the UK (including London) for decades. The only poor air in outer London is around Heathrow and Edmonton incinerator. Stop falling for their lies and invented “problems”.

    • @michelinesheridan7755
      @michelinesheridan7755 Год назад +1

      So why isn't it on the tens of thousands of death certificates if that's what killed them?

    • @Roadshome
      @Roadshome  Год назад

      @michelinesheridan7755 more importantly if it is the emissions then why will khan let tens of thousands more die if we pay him £12.50 per day.

    Well said. Nomadic life is being taken away fast. Was looking at returning to van life, as being a constant cruiser on canal is becoming very difficult and expensive. I didn't know about the wood burners. It's the only heat source I have and I only burn biofuel/seasoned wood. That's co2 negative and is cleaner for environment than letting it rot. Wood whilst rotting creates methane, which is more than twenty times as effective at heating the earth's atmosphere as carbon dioxide!!

    • @Roadshome

      You'll get a good boat for 60k. I was alarmed by labour during lockdown, as they never opposed the restrictions, even though they were having devastating effects on the working class, plus their so called leader was the barrister who defended the Rochdale rape gang 😥🤔
