Even if it wouldn't have been an april fool, you couldn't have been "the first to save jenkins". If you learn how to do something by watch a video, it of course means the youtuber has done it before you. That is without counting those who were faster then you and in some cases, those the youtuber learned it from, etc. So, yup, you wouldn't have any chance of being "the first to save jenkins".

I knew it was BS as soon as I read the title. Otherwise, you would've thought that the Mass Effect fanbase would've found it YEARS ago. Still, not a bad April Fools prank for the new ME fans that've gotten introduced to the trilogy on the remastered Legendary Edition.
They did find it years ago, it was kept under wraps by a broad-scope disinformation campaign involving memes, mockery (much like this video which conveniently hides the truth by insinuating that it's not possible) and distraction tactics. Who cares to look into saving a young soldier's life when they could be arguing about identity politics on social media?
The only april fools in this charade are the crewmembers of the SSV Normandy, most of all Jenkins - may he rest in peace. I know I'll be continuing with my own personal canon on my upcoming twelfth playthrough, where Shepard dies fighting the Collectors and Corporal Richard L. Jenkins takes over as the galaxy's hero in ME3. No spoilers, let's just say a Jenkins ending is the ending ME3 deserves.

Even if they screwed the pooch on the 1 yard line, I will still always love Bioware for creating the ME trilogy, which managed to knock the original Metal Gear Solid from its long-held place in my heart as the single most amazing and emotionally cathartic gaming experience of my life. I would have still been torn and a little let down if the extended cut was the originally released version of the ending... But it wouldn't have gutted me like the original vauge non-ending did.
Anyone who has never played the entire 3 game arc just CAN'T comprehend what they've missed. It is the ride of lifetime in my opinion.

@Big Dan Gaming, If only we could have sent Jenkins to Virmire, and choose Ashley or Kaidan over him. That would allow us to keep them both. While we leave Jenkins behind on Virmire. Jenkins couldn't even survive the first few geth drones. He was useless from the start. It's easy to forget he even existed. Bioware killed him off before he could be of any use to us. Poor guy. RIP Jenkins.

When I was younger i actually thought you could save Jenkins (naivety and falling for earlier 'jenkins can live' comments on the bioware forum) and also because Ashley says she might've died if Jenkins didn't, I just never attempted it because I always thought Ashley was just a more interesting character lol
