This machining technique is not taught in any school, how to turn a giant shaft
This unique and special lathe technique is used on workpieces that are gigantic in size and cannot fit on a lathe's swing.
This technique no one knows, Turner creative ideas are very important in every machining job Lathe technique Creative idea Making tools Making gear Line boring Lathe cnc

Good solution to a particular holding and machining problem.
Thanks 🙏👍
The real engineer..👍
AMAZING ! These guys can fix anything but a broken heart !
Na we can. Fix that too just put it in the lath for bout 3 sec shave the outer layer .rotate 360 put a tac weld to the left ventricular tube and a bead for the right ..makes sure your earl flows north to south and put some silicone over any cracks and put her back in ...she beat just fine hahahahah😅😊😅😮😢
Clever setup that “inverts” the lathe!
Thanks 🙏👍
bro, this is genius.
Thanks 🙏👍
Really clever. Add the burnishing tool. 😊
Thanks 🙏👍
Smart! To set cutter depth, the hex head bolt can be chosen to be metric 1 full rotation = 1 mm and be given a small dial devided 1/100 increments
The cutter angle towards the workpiece then idealy must be 90 degrees. For 45 degrees you would have to calculate using the square root of 2.
A smart way to do it without a horizontal boring mill
Thanks 🙏👍
It's line boring done on a lathe.
🙏👍👍👍
I used a measuring tape and now it's even looser.
Clever thinking!
@@MetalMachineShop thanks 🙏👍
Good job and amazing solutionto giant piece machininh. Thx
This technique is a must try,👍👍👍
😁👍👍👍
Very clever.
Thanks 🙏👍
I used to work on a horizontal boring mill. This is also a way to it.
And if it has to done again that old HINO will come back after another 4 years hard work !!!!
In the USA this assembly would be replaced as a wear item for a mere 50k....

There are many ways to machine a surface. Sometimes you need to be inventive. This is a bit like boring…but it’s external instead.
Looks like parts for the Boeing starliner.
La necesidad agudiza el ingenio
Mopok as tandem truck ya,👍👍
Thanks
Thanks for sharing
Thanks 🙏👍
Clever
Thanks 🙏👍👍
Nothing new about this at all, Centre lathe turners and machine tool men have used this process for generations.
