We spent most of the Fall and Winter 0f 1966/67 working on the #61 Porsche 911T of Floridians Dr. Harold Williamson, George Drolsom, and David H. McLain. 10th OA, 1st in U-2 Touring, after the 9th place Brumos 911S in U2 GT Ahead of the 12th place Shelby Mustang in GT-O Built up from parts of TWO smashed 911Ts, from Sharpe Cadillac/Porsche of Tampa With the help of Poppa Ben Wright, Sr. Tampa's BEST artisan welder, from TVA days.. My neighbor! And nearly foster Father.. I was his "gofer" at all hours of day of night.. I had hoped to be part of the pit crew. But not unpaid... (So I attended the race with my cousin, in his "new" $1000 1964 Red MGB! The Red Baron which we had until 1980, he sold for $1000 with 165,000 miles on the clock! Running like a top! ) Anyway.... I was behind the flag man, jumping up and down, when the 330P4's came by! 1-2-3! Forza Ferrari!
I was born in 1999, my family have been Ferrari fans since the times of my grandfather, of course, being Italian and not supporting Ferrari might as well count as a crime here. I've witnessed the Schumacher era in F1, but the 1-2-3 at Daytona is to me the best Ferrari moment ever. Your memories make me imagine a time when racing was about the cars, the tracks, the people. Now, it's all a kids show on Netflix. Thank you. Forza Ferrari sempre!
James,
