I was doing self-study about google data studio. Glad to have watched this video first amongst the others on RUclips. Well explained, and easy to understand.
Well done! I used this video as a real-time training tool to work with my data set to create a demo using your instruction. Pause, rewind, create, repeat...success.
I am one of the many other commenters that is seriously being helped in my challenge to learn datastudio basic. i want to say thank you for your dedicated time for this quality and helpful video, you got a subscriber.
Thank you so much. I had no clue about Data Studio and I needed to learn it. Thanks to you now, I feel that I am more ready than ever to learn more about that tool and create some cool stuff
Hey Sergey, this was a seriously good video man! I enjoyed it a lot, thanks for taking the time to make this and share it! I come from a BI background and I can see the power behind this tool already, sure we need to be able to establish a more robust data background but this was awesome to start with. Thanks a lot
I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge on google data studio. I learned how to build my report and create dashboard through google data studio by following your video tutorials. Thank you so much! My only question is how can I remove the decimal point in values? I want to show only whole numbers.
Hey Sergey, Is Merge data Horizontally is available in GDS. I have a workbook with data in multiple sheets with same column name. I want to use this whole data as clubbed data in GDS. If this option not available directly in GDS, what are the possible solutions. Please Note : Each Sheet has 25 Columns and Row Counts are between 2 Lac to 5 Lac. Thanks have a good day.
May I suggest a video - I like your teaching style from some others. 1. Relationship with what we learn X / Y ... i.e. X = "Dimensions" 2. When you have a Header of years 4 Quarters - How do I get Dimensions / X, to Have the 4 Qtrs - and the make tY the total Sum value? I 'm still looking how to do this Thank you!
Hi! Great video - how did you make the filtered sheet from the imported applicant data? I'm concerned this will mess up the data flow. Otherwise, I am following and almost able to make my dashboard project! Thank you
Is it possible to save the report layout and settings to GIT? I would like to have a CI/CD system . Reports created in DEV and approved in UAT, should be moved to PROD via CI/CD.
Hi thank u so much for ur video its quite helpful ...quick question I’m trying to divide a set of column data for percentage however I find challenging..for instance I would like to know percentage of A from A,B,C which consist in the same column
Great video. Thank u. I have a question though. Is there a filtering solution to sorting landing pages in GDS? Currently when I get the stats for top landing pages it brings up all pages in order of most hits. I need to filter so that it brings up only the pages in the menu options. Would be great to resolve this.
Sorry to distract from your main message, but that is a _nice_ opening shot! And done by your own guys too, right? If Railsware's standards overall are as high as the video production values in that cold open, then you guys are cool!
Anindya, good point! while we've recorded the video, the date range dimension was not selected for the positions table. This is why the data filter was not applied.
Hello! Wondering if I can get some help here, can't find answers on forums elsewhere....When I use the provided practice sheet, all data are classified as dimensions and not metrics, even though the type is numerical. Any tips on how to solve this? Super beginner here, this video inspired me to learn Data Studio! Thanks so much!
Can these reports be utilized in the New Google Sites? If so do you have a video showing the process? I could not find anything on the video listing here on your youtube channel
My applicant ID has been recognised as a 'number' field, but still is green in colour. How to change it to a metric? Also, there's a blue (metric) named 'Record Count' whose default aggregation is 'Auto'? What's that? That is the only metric being shown.
All fields are green by default. To make a metric out of them just drag and drop them to the "Metric" section in the "DATA" tab and choose a metric type, for example, "Count Distinct" by clicking on the field name. "Record Count" is created automatically and means the number of records in the table by selected Dimensions.
Hi! They're actually very different. GA is best for monitoring your traffic and gives you a great overview out of the box. Looker Studio (previously Data Studio) requires some initial setup but gives you a fully customizable way to build dashboards of any kind. What's more, on top of GA data, you can connect thousands of apps to Looker Studio, blend data freely and visualize virtually any data at your disposal. We use both apps extensively and they're both absolutely must-haves :)
Hi, I am building a dashboard but I am struggling with scoreboard and comparison data from the previous year. When I choose the data it tells me no data. I have data in one spreadsheet everything in one spreadsheet from 2018/2019/2020 How can I do this?
In order to compare data with previous period you should have two columns in a table: date and your metric. You should put date column aka field into "Data Range Dimension" section in "DATA" tab and your metric in "Metrics" section. Note, that data for every year should be in one column for this to work.
I am really struggling with this from long time ago on how to show ten top values in google data studio and rest as others? in bar chart ...etc. for instance, I have 50 line charts. I only want to show ten top and the other 40 as " others". With a hover on the others find out what are these rest unless you click on it.
As far as we know Data Studio doesn't support such functionality. You need to prepare your data beforehand, for example, in Google Sheets or Python / R.
Hey Sergey, I have a doubt on metrics which appeared in blue in your video is not same when I tried with the same practise sheet. I'm getting record count, a new field added and rest are in green. please clear the doubt at the earliest
Thank you for putting together this demo. It was super helpful to me. Date filtering doesn't work like in the video anymore. The UI doesn't have the same dropdown. It's now under 'Add a control'. We can find the same tool/filter/component but when you add it doesn't work exactly the same. Not sure how to get it to filter by range as you did in the video.
Sergey, great video! What software did you use for your presentation when listing Services, Connectors, Data Sources, and Reports? I love the animations and sound. Thanks in advance.
How can i replace data source for the entire report whitoutgoing crazy with replacement in filters, graphs, etc? I need to update the info from my google sheets connector, the structure is the same (header name etc) but every week i have new data in my google sheet and i do not understand the best way to update the data source. thanks for helping me

Hi thank u so much for ur video its quite helpful ...quick question I’m trying to divide a set of column data for percentage however I find challenging..for instance I would like to know percentage of A from A,B,C which consist in the same column
If I understood your question correctly, you need to create three new columns using Calculated fields with formulas like A / B, A / C, etc.
Great video. Thank u. I have a question though. Is there a filtering solution to sorting landing pages in GDS?
Currently when I get the stats for top landing pages it brings up all pages in order of most hits. I need to filter so that it brings up only the pages in the menu options.

@railsware Hey at 18:43 , how come there are so many values in the left table when only one applicant is there on the right?
Anindya, good point! while we've recorded the video, the date range dimension was not selected for the positions table. This is why the data filter was not applied.
