Had this exact same issue on my 2015 mt09 Tracer. Occurred at 1500miles. Thankfully my local dealer offered to change the Cct it under warranty and this resolved it for good. The new tensioner has the marking ‘S3’ on it which I presume was revision 3. The previous one was an S2.
Glad it helped, it's pretty noticeable if it's bad, but maybe harder to tell if you're not familiar with the bike. In any case, if it does fail in the future, changing to a manual CCT adjuster doesn't seem too difficult.
Yeah, my clutch is noisy when open/pulled-in as well, I think it's pretty common. The sound of the clutch is different though, more of a rumble than a rattle
The difference is subtle but it's there, maybe try listening with some headphones. I opened and engaged the clutch in both videos to show the difference in sound the clutch makes
So im trying to figure out whether mine needs cct replacement or if maybe the valves need replace menr but mine has a short choppy noise like somethings catching or scraping inside. I just did full oil and oil filter change and it's gotten louder. Any ideas what it could be?
My Mt09 2018, OEM CCT the same noise, just need 3mm allen wrench to adjust, drawback is engine must be turn off or engine oil spill out. Manual CCT is expensive to order where am at.
@@andrelucas6590 yes, but you need to adjust it again, when the noise came, I do have solution to that problem already , just don't know how to upload the picture.
18 models dont have the issue you might be mistaking clutch rattle for the chain. i have a 16 mt09 and no issues. clutch ratlle yes but that is a yamie thing.

This is really helpful. I'm going to check out a used 2016 FJ-09 today and having read all the CCT isuues I was a little worried about it.

@@asteriskaddiction what happens if it goes unnoticed?
Does the sound go away when you accelerate?
I have some rattle but it goes away when I pull the clutch in, so assuming it's just the clutch basket or something and not the CCT?

They sound roughly the same. Is the difference in the clutch pull dampening/killing the noise?

How many miles/km does the engine have?

Does adjusting with the 3mm wrench really solve the problem? My mt 09 presents this noise after some time riding

I adjusted mine and after 1 ride came back quite rattly then next day started it up and it was quiet again I'm struggling to tell if it's the cct
My issue is I can’t tell on my bike cause I can’t hear shit over the exhaust
This is a extremely helpful video
What did you do to fix it?
In the end I replaced it with a manual CCT. But if I was doing it over, I would probably just get another OEM CCT installed by the dealer.
