Limiting the opportunities in Star Citizen for Salvage could do a lot for the gameplay, also allowing multiple commanders to receive the same contract for the same Salvage making it a race
Nothing lasts forever. Speaking directly, ED lasted a long time, it's now in the past and we can't expect it to last forever, everything ends and we know that Frontier doesn't have the money to maintain or create an ED 2. So for me we're at the end now, it's It was nice but it's over. New things are happening in STAR CITIZEN, in my opinion that's where we need to look for the future, Elite unfortunately it's now almost the past.
Personal opinion, I don't think Frontier cares about what the "Players" want. They have only designed content based on what they want to do. They have actively ignored any success from other companies to learn from. Success in this industry only happens when you deliver what people want. People will play the stuff they want to play.
I love Elite and it can still be a goldmine for FDev if they would just listen to users. It has been years since Elite has updated the cockpits in each ship. One simple idea for a cool update would be to create new cockpits for each ship with different styled instruments. Every ship even from different manufacturers has the same overall dashboard. Just to make the ships feel cooler and less dated inside. There are other minor updates that could really improve the game. FDev has terrific developers... just look at the Thargoid spire sites. Those are amazing, but they exclude a large portion of the player base. It wouldn't take much to really engage more players and put a more modern look to certain aspects of the game. Regardless, I am hoping the best for the game. Thanks "Dave" for another great video. o7

I played Elite back in the 80's and still play today, it is perhaps my favourite game and I love it. For what it’s worth here's some suggestions with the intent of re-igniting interest in Elite and also help Frontiers future prospects, by developing Elite into something more immersive, attractive and fun to play whilst continually driving higher revenue and player count to assist Frontier with their business plan. 1: Revamp the cockpit display and controls to be more varied across ship types: currently all ships share the exact same interface, I understand why but nevertheless. 2: Revamp ship types different abilities so that they are far more distinguishable. Specialist ships should be incredible at what they do rather than being similar to all other ships, haulers for example should clearly be haulers with amazing hauling abilities, fighters should likewise be awesome at what they do. Don't be afraid to decrease or even lose the overlap instead increase the differences, drastically. 3: Revamp engineering to be far simpler with far less grind - let players explore, get rich, go further and want more. 4: Revamp Carriers to be able to fly much further and cost much less and reconsider what attributes can be introduced to both encourage increased ownership and push much further the development of the Galaxy, for example building of space stations, and planet bases. 5: To encourage the exploration of the whole Galaxy there needs to be a mechanism in the game that drives this. Maybe this could be achieved via some new algorithms and attributes for example the carriers could seed new bubble attributes and bubble gameplay both autonomously and by selective decision by the owning commander at the locations they visit. This is a big one and the one that would drive the opening up of the Galaxy. 6: Finally (and crucially) don't be afraid to charge on a ppm or ppy schedule, if all of the above was implemented Frontier could be confident in charging say 5,6 or £7 a month, maybe even have different levels, whilst simultaneously offering a sustainable profitable game that opens up and unlocks the potential of the galaxy that lies untapped at the heart of Elite, it would build upon the successful exciting aspects of Elite that we all love but want more of and was the reason that Elite was so successful in the first place; we love flying these ships but we quickly learn that the ships are not all that different, the different ships and their real different attributes holds incredible potential for players attention, this tied up with the development of the Galaxy and bubble type gameplay is the key for all of us. If the above was done and I don't think I have suggested anything couldn't be achieved within a couple of years the game would be more exciting and enjoyable to play and ensure it pays its way for the next 10 years providing a steady reliable income stream and profits as reward for Frontier.
if Fdev changed the ship stats, changed cockpit graphics, changed engineering AGAIN, spread out the playerbase across the entire galaxy by implementing "bubble seeding" as you put it, and then start charging any amount of money per month, even just a dollar, I am very confident they would lose more than 90% of their playerbase including me. I bought the game and all its DLCs for full price, I am not paying any more until they add an, for example, atmospheric landing DLC "season pass" It's optional, if you just want to play the base game you're fine, if you want extra content you drop 20 dollars. Subscription based games are an outdated idea and I'm glad they're dying out. They just need to add more ships and occasional extra gameplay loops, like reworking powerplay, and people will play the game more. Paid cosmetics are fine, paid ability to play isn't.
This is all hopium. There is no roadmap still. the overhauled feature still missing. The company is still moving as slow as ever, and even if they decided to invest in the game today, they are still buried under mountains of other games to develop for which they licensed ip and no cash to spare on such an old game.
Not to mention the fact that whenever they do release an upgrade it is overall horrible - it appeals only to a minimum fraction of the playerbase, it has no repeat value and it delivers numerous new bugs.

Why does FDev not acknowledge the 10,000 Ton Elephant in the room??? No matter how many IP's FDev want's to work on , the problem is that DATED , UNSCALABLE Cobra Game engine that's riddled with technical debt & unscalable. If I owned an IP , why the hell would I give it to FDEv?? I'd rather give it to a company running UE4 or even better UE5 game engine or anything other than the Cobra game engine. Which is sooo bad for JPW , that even IGN , made fun of it's physics code in game. If you want Elite to compete & keep up , you better find at least $250 million in research , funding & additional Dev's. Then add at least 3-5 years on top of that , just to develop or re engineer this game engine. FDev thinking this game engine was future proof is laughable & just goes to show you how badly mismanaged this game has been since the BETA released. The sad fact that it's pretty much over for ED to actually get anything new or groundbreaking in game. Wasted oppurtunities. o7
Are you sure the problem is in the Cobra engine and not in their lack of skill, poor vision, minimum technical proficiency, laziness and lack of desire to develop the game?
Actually , what you just described is the reason why the Cobra game engine is exactly in the state it's in now. Lack of skill , visions & min tech proficiency is the very cause of this dated game engine. Laziness can be added as well. o7
They do not understand if they annoy us on Elite we are not going to buy any of their other games. I will not get anything from Frontier even if it's free. I have heard they messed up their F1 Management so that's basically it for me.
Tbh the jurasic park evolution 2 was kinda “meh” not much important evolution (pun intended) from the first game i think was one of the argument of why that game didn’t perform great. So fdev need to bring their A game and make an improvement not just “make another sim stuff”
If you look at the financials, zoo and jurassic park are stellar performers. They got no real competition either. The space Sim genre is extremely competitive and frontier is really behind the tech. They are not going to make huge investments when they are on the verge of bankruptcy.
@@cmdrls212 jurassic park 1 was way better than the sequel, in fact imo if u release the 2 as a dlc of the first one was ok. Nothing new (beside a campaign and new dinos) no new mechanic or some improvements that make a difference. I agree that the zoo sim isn’t competitive and also agree that space sim is very competitive. No one can deny that elite dangerous was a good game with huge wasted potential. Took odyssey, instead of keep evolving that expansion with new content (weapons, suits, more missions) what they do? NOTHING, besides minor optimizations, nothing new or relevant to a huge expansion in which fdev spent lot of resources. That in my book is a wasted opportunity
@@Sifonni well you see, the way licensed IP works is that you pay for it and if you don't use it, it is wasted money. So unless the license expires, they are basically going to focus on milking those licenses. That is just how fdev is structured now and they are simply confirming management games are their core business.
@DownToEarthAstronomy As a lover of Elite, I would be willing to pay a small subscription fee to keep it alive if necessary. I’ve gotten hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of this game and will get hundreds more. If you amortize the cost of this game over hundreds or thousands of hours of play, it’s fractions of pennies per hour. Am I crazy or?
Shop it to Bethesda and merge into Starfield. Carry over the ships, items, drama, and grant player achievements and holdings equivalence in the Starfield universe. Label it an expansion pack. A lot of us put way too many hours in this universe just for it to fall flat, if it's looking crazy, just pass the dam ball before the whole team loses, at least we can stay in the game and Frontier can cover it's debts. It's a reality that needs to be considered. Even if the initial effort was buggy, I'd give it a shot. I do not own nor have I played Starfield, I've been building out another business most of 2023, barely have time for Elite anymore, and I have zero interest in coming back to a dead game or starting over in a new one. No way, and it's possible I'm not the only one that thinks like this.
Elite had a great run but I don't blame them from cutting their lost. Elite is dead. New players aren't coming in. So they should focus on management games or an Elite 2
@@zevjohnson1000 players would be an all time low then. It was in the 2000s recently. And that's the problem. The trend is downwards even as they keep pumping money into odyssey.

FDev thinking this game engine was future proof is laughable & just goes to show you how badly mismanaged this game has been since the BETA released. The sad fact that it's pretty much over for ED to actually get anything new or groundbreaking in game. Wasted oppurtunities. o7
Butthurt much? ;)
@@ChrisM541 No , you Odyssey shill
Are you sure the problem is in the Cobra engine and not in their lack of skill, poor vision, minimum technical proficiency, laziness and lack of desire to develop the game?
Actually , what you just described is the reason why the Cobra game engine is exactly in the state it's in now. Lack of skill , visions & min tech proficiency is the very cause of this dated game engine. Laziness can be added as well. o7
Elite could use a new graphics engine new tech possibly a whole new game
I think it's a good time to short Frontier xD
They do not understand if they annoy us on Elite we are not going to buy any of their other games. I will not get anything from Frontier even if it's free. I have heard they messed up their F1 Management so that's basically it for me.
I will never purchase anything from FLiars. They will never change.0 efforts is they motto.
Player Driven Economy = alot of gameplay and content = Elite lacking content solved for some percentages
If they had consoles players to they would be making money I mean more players more income for them but no they wanna be lazy
Tencent has 10 percent of Fdev so do not expect anything.
Sequel or bust.......
Another thing since they stopped console they started going down hill serves them right
Shop it to Bethesda and merge into Starfield.
Incompatible engines. Would never work.
Let people pay for private servers that support modding an they will have profit. for god sake let us fix this game they simply refuse to
ED is dying slowing. It's painful to see all that.
Elite had a great run but I don't blame them from cutting their lost. Elite is dead. New players aren't coming in. So they should focus on management games or an Elite 2
I'm new :) I play for the vr experience ... wish they would update vr stuff ...
The ED discord usually still always has at least 100+ people playing, with 1000's players online as of now, where some play together.
Ya I be hoping in the discord very helpful and friendly ppl In there , part of the reason I come back to it :)
@@zevjohnson1000 players would be an all time low then. It was in the 2000s recently. And that's the problem. The trend is downwards even as they keep pumping money into odyssey.
@@charliekongo9896 If you're "new" then, obviously, you ain't even scratched it's VR experience - you've got some way to go before you can ask for it to be updated! ;)
Focusing only on Thargoid stuff and endless grind brought elite down where it is now. No new content for explorers no ship interiors. Search and rescue in and outside ships on planets or even in space would have been nice. I do not say Thargoid stuff is bad but too much focus only in this has been bad.
