      Seriously do! There's been so many of these videos of broadcasts with awesome stuff, and they seem to always get the best touring acts to show up in the studio. I used to go to Bumbershoot, and one of the very best shows I've ever seen anywhere was Os Mutantes from Brazil in about 2007, and they did a KEXP show that year also which is great. Admittedly they're a little more muted in the smaller environment of the studio, but still terrific.

    Its African Raga music with electric guitars. The Moroccans have this
    with usually a cat playing a shredding melodies and arpeggios with a
    violin positioned on a tall stool so they
    can play like a stand up acoustic bass. Lots of 6/8 and triple meter stuff
    with call and response vocals between a man and a woman.
    The audiences participate. All over the Middle East this is going on in underground
    music venues. Some great Heavy Metal bands in Suadi Arabia in Jedda in basement teen clubs.

    I don't know, it's somehow magic, it kept me in front of the screen for the whole video, although I was thinking first of only watching 2-3 songs. I can't even describe how much I like it and how it reverberates with me. It's like back to the roots of guitar, the essence, the "what it should really be about", but I don't just like Mdou, this is the thing - Iove the whole rest of the band, the bass player is amazing, so balanced and creative, the 2nd guitar is so exact and gives a lot more colour to the band and what can I say about that restless drummer, he's just from another dimension! I've just discovered them randomly a few days ago, with a gig in the dessert, in front of some kids and some adults (and that was absolutely amazing!) and I am already a huge fan! Wow! This is like a revolution, like a ray of light in this cloudy sad, boring and not at all original music we have on mainstream media today. I wish we could live another '60-'70 kind of musical revolution, like Ravi Shankar did with Harrison. Why not another one started by Mdou Moctar? Or maybe, as a planet we aren't cultural and smart enough anymore to embrace it?

    I sometimes wonder who these folks are that give things like this a thumbs down. I just returned from a performance here in New Orleans that I would call incendiary. Not quite the same band but it was uncanny the way he & his rhythm guitarist locked into a groove.

    • @jamescarter3196

      Supposedly there are bots on RUclips which go around hitting the dislike at random, which is the only explanation for some of them. This one isn't as obvious (though it sure doesn't deserve a thumbs-down to say the least) but when I'm seeing videos of cute little animals and there's five thousand likes and two hundred thumbs down, all I can think is 'bots'.

    • @maometus
      @maometus 4 года назад +74

      this is not rock, and not arabic vocals, this is purely north african music called Gnawa, Takamba and Magoni and the language used in the song called tamazigh, the language of north africa, it's very very old language, the onley new thing they did to this style of music is using the modern instruments instead of traditional instruments, this style of music is very old and apparently this style is the ancestor of rock blues music.
      ruclips.net/video/DHcD4p7lkN4/видео.html
      this link shows the Takamba style using tradisionnal instrement no electric guitar and and the style of jimi hendrix is similar to this style.
