    I just purchased a EG4 6000XP plus the 14.3kWh All weather battery and I am in the process of setting up for the install. The question that I have is why you did not just run the sub-panel 240VAC input from the EG4 LOAD terminals as that is a 50 Amp rating and it would automatically transfer from the EG4 supplying power, to the grid supplying power if the battery hit the 80% mark. That way you would not have to have to activate the generator interlock in the main service panel. Just wondering

    • @CountryViewAcres
      @CountryViewAcres  Месяц назад +3

      The interlock is like a
      Bypass for the inverter. If I ever want to work on the inverter, I can power up the breaker panel and have the inverter off and safe to work on.

I know that here in Dallas, our power seems to go out more and more due to the number of new homes being built and the electric providers' unwillingness to upgrade in order to keep up with the demand. So can that inverter handle two of the battery units? That would give you a little over a day and a half in a grid down situation without needing the generator and easily cover your 9% shortfall right now. As long as the charge controller in the inverter could handle those it would be a vast improvement toward total self sufficient off grid design. That said, you still might come up short on too many cloudy winter days on solar panels though.

    Evan, I appreciate your presentation demeanor, all of the details you provide in your videos and the timeliness of your replies to comments. I know much of your time is spent on solar and I will eventually be installing solar myself but I would appreciate more basic assistance with the configuration and setup of the XP. First and foremost, I want a system to provide battery backup to my home in case of a grid outage - I am NOT interested in feeding back to the grid but I do need power from the grid. Sorry for the long comment but I am trying to provide as much detail as I can .... So here are my questions.
    1. Can the 6000XP be programmed to pass grid power directly to the critical load panel (while the grid is UP) without routing thru the battery ? I do not want the battery depleted to where the battery percentage is low and then the grid fails and then I don't have full battery to service the critical load. I assume while the grid is UP, the inverter would have to be feeding the critical load panel with power as well as splitting off some power to charge the batteries.
    2. Based upon my unsophisticated calculations of my power needs it appears that my critical load could be about 10000 watts so assume that means I would need two 6000XPs. If I need 2, is all the wiring from the main panel feed and to the critical panel handled from one XP ?
    3. Can you tell me what size breaker you have feeding your XP and what size breaker you have going into your critical load panel.
    BTW - thanks for the catch on the backer board for the inverter, I had no idea that the XP couldn't be attached directly to wood.
    Thanks in advance !

    • @CountryViewAcres
      @CountryViewAcres  Месяц назад

      @wbarkwell the 6000xp can pass thru 50 amps. So the breakers are all 50 amps. So it can pass thru 12000 watts from the grid. You can set the minimum state of charge to use the battery in normal conditions, so that you have enough left in battery for emergencies.
      If you can 2 - 6000XPs then you will have another set of breakers to wire up for it. And the 2 inverters share the load and produce 12000 watts, but could pass through 24000 watts together.

    • @wbarkwell
      @wbarkwell Месяц назад

      Thanks for the info - it helped a lot!
      One additional question - can 2 inverters share ONE battery ? Thanks.

    • @CountryViewAcres
      @CountryViewAcres  Месяц назад

      @@wbarkwell each inverter needs the max output of 150 amps from the battery. This is a 200 amp output battery. So 2 batteries would be needed for the 300 amps total needed by both units.

With someone like yourself with electrical skills you make it look easy, but I looked to do this myself with no electrical experience, and it was a bit more complex than I wanted to tackle. Do you think in the future, especially with grid failures being more burdened due to the US' lack of upgrading its infrastructure, that these systems will get more affordable and easier to install? Or do you think that they are about as low in price and simple as they will ever get?
