Walking home one day. Thinking about life. Thanking my dead father for the life he gave me (even though I’m not to happy with this life I still appreciate the gift my parents gave to me)
Passed by a gravestone (one of those you see alongside the rode for someone that died in a car accident near that spot).
It’s dark, I see lots of candles but none are lit. I light the candles as a sign of respect for the dead person.
I notice a Bible. I pick it up. I flipped through the pages, and found a dollar bill tucked inside. I wanted to take the dollar bill because I was flat broke and was craving a cigarette. Taking the dollar seemed wrong so I persuaded myself that it would be ok to take it if I read a verse from the page I found it on.
The first vs was Mathew 15. 5.
I was reminded of me thanking my father for life minutes before even reading. The vs said god would reward a man such as that with riches…. I was angry with god and said “ screw you. I don’t want your money, I want to be set free”.
I took the dollar and asked him to set me free instead. I flipped to the last page of this Bible and read another verse.. it said something about how men can not be free because they are full of sin. A argued with god, informed him that I am not happy being his slave and that I want to be set free.
Then I read Mathew 15.6…… I was set free, even though I was trying to distant myself from god.
