    Hey Kim, winter sowing is such a fun way to germinate seeds! I've done it for several winters (not yet this year ... hope not too late) and some of those perennials still come back each year! Would love to be a part of your "community".

I haven’t even started my first container yet this year and I am in 7B/8A I always start mine between February 15 and finish up the first week of March and have had fine results.

    The best explained tutorial on winter sowing. Thank you so much!! I started my winter sowing yesterday & today here in zone 8, Dallas, TX. I also used the burning tool and works awesome. 👍🏼. Yikes, I did not place a coffee filter at the bottom. Such a great idea. What I plan on doing is placing 2-3 coffee filter or a thin layer of cardboard underneath the jugs.

    I have my containers and seeds! I now have to get the soil! Today was beautiful and I wanted to get outside and work a little on this. My husband is on dialysis, which we do at home, and we’ve been having a lot of problems sticking one of his sites. So, we were much later getting started today. Treatment time is 4 - 5 hrs, so no outside anything happened here today. That’s ok. His health and well being come first! Loved this video! Thank you!

      So GREAT question. No i have not noticed any difference in the clear or translucent. If you watch my reveal part 2 I discuss this and show the difference of the same seed in one vs the other (regular jug vs a water bottle). I’ll make a video about this also maybe today. I found the little water bottles like you drink from dried out so fast and were a pain to keep from dying. .

    Hello, I am brand new to your channel today, and you have me jazzed to try this. I noticed you throw away the lids. What keeps the seeds/ seedlings warm enough if the lids are off? We live in 7b but high elevation (4-5 thousand ft) and we do get snow on occasion. Thank you

    • @thesoutherndaisyllc
      @thesoutherndaisyllc  7 месяцев назад +1

      Welcome!!!!! I’m glad you are here! The lids on would prevent them from getting any moisture from nature (rain,snow etc) which is vital to their survival. The goal is to allow them to freeze or stay cold as they would in nature. When the soil warms the seeds know it’s time to wake up and grow. Even if it feels like it’s too early for plants to survive in the containers you can trust the process and leave them. The goal is not trying to keep them warm you are letting nature do its thing, letting them freeze. One of my next videos should help explain this better. Great question. By the way snow is great too. You leave your containers out in it and let them be cold it’s all part of the incredible process. 😊
