  • The results are in and I am still smiling! I hope you will find the dramatics of this video along with the enjoyment of this experiment to fuel your motivation to try winter sowing, even using an unconventional method. Just do it!
In January, I started an experiment of 3 different methods to winter sow and asked you all to vote! You showed up and shined (as always) and picked the "OG Method" as your winner, 2nd went to the plastic bin and last was the ziplock bags. That was the order I thought as well but truly had no idea.
I hope you will check out this video and see if you picked correctly.
Thank you so much for watching! I truly appreciate you.

If you try again. Put weed cloth in bottom of the big container to keep the slugs from coming through the drain holes.

Don't be embarrassed, this is totally relatable! We've all had failures in gardening, it's just part of it! My winter sowing last year was incredible, this year only a few successes. Love your honesty and humor!

  • @jessukkuh1

    I want to be this person's friend. She's a doll😊

Being willing to experiment with plants or cooking leads us to great success if we are willing to chance failure. We learn the most from our failures. What not to do leads us to what we should try instead. You are fantastic. We all appreciate your honesty as it only makes us trust you more. I love it. You are adorable! Keep on keeping on!

Oh my heart! I feel so bad for your hubby! I had great results in both the jugs and bags. A couple hundred. I got a little carried away watching y’all’s videos! Now I need to get them all planted. My struggle is keeping them all watered, since they are all opened up, until I can get them in the ground. Oy! Thank you for your joyful inspiration 😊

God bless you! We've all been there. I think you are showing a lot of courage filming this. Every experience teaches us... all of us. ;)

  • @seandelevan

I’m in VA and I just leave my jugs outside no matter what. They don’t need our help or meddling imo

Kim this video made my day! I am sorry that your winter sowing results weren't what you expected but I'm so glad you can find humour in it, when you said 'I want some salad, don't you?' I couldn't stop laughing 🤣 you inspired me to start winter sowing earlier this year, it's not as popular here in the UK but I will definitely be repeating it as the results speak for themselves!

You are such a champion! I felt so bad for your loss in the beginning but you pepped right up and the show went on! I'm so excited to try winter sowing this year and think I will add mosquito netting around mine since I'm in Oklahoma. I'm thankful that you had some set backs as they were very helpful lessons in what can go wrong.

  • @dianadowhaniuk8173

Only what if the others would have sprouted while they were in the greenhouse... I think this should be redone, even though I believe the jugs would still win. Thank you for the fun video 🌞

I love your videos! They’re so fun and helpful and you’re just the cutest 🥰

I've had pretty good luck with the bags. I like the jugs better because they don't collapse on themselves like the bags do but I was so limited on jugs and wanted to plant more seeds. Good problem to have in my opinion 😊

Might as well laugh and keep on going😊. This is my first time winter sowing w so-so results. I am having better luck with sowing seeds in pots. Great germination rates. I do move them in and out of the garage. But I look at it as an experiment. Keep the videos coming.

  • @topsieBeezelbub

On the winter sowing Facebook page but I left because everyone got mad at me when I would tell them never to sow hot weather seeds like Mexican sunflowers or peppers in Winter.. they are hot climate seeds and there is no advantage to Winter sowing but there is severe risk of losing them to a late frost. Unless a seed requires weeks of cold stratification sow indoors or wait until spring is warm.

Your winter sowing actually looks better than mine. 😂 Out of over 30 jugs, I had maybe 5 sparsely survive. Not thrive.. haha Below freezing to 90° temps back to below freezing really put a strain on my seedlings. 😢 Im not giving up either, though! Im now battling many many squirrels. Idk where they've come from. Its ridiculous!

  • @susanboddie1120

I read to put paper in the bottom so the slugs can’t get in.

It’s been tough with extreme temperatures this year. Many had failure in large tubs. If you weren’t able to babysit them they dried up, fried, rotted, ect.

I feel ya on this. I am not following why you moved them inside when it got cold. Isnt the purpose the ability to leave winter sowing to leave them out all winter?
