@brummie ive never stabed my self on them , we also use them to get up snowy hlls. we advise you make wooden ''corks'' that fit in the runners that have a rounded points.
i tried to combine or mix the skateboard with snowboard. So i made a soft mini-snowboard with a free-angle binding. the free angle binding gives you the freedom that you need on the feet when handling with the board. the slides below the skate did not work. there is an old patent called doubled edges which had the same base idea. but when i made the same, i found that it didn't work that way. Either you run down only straight in a line with no curves, or if you start a curve or turn, then the leading edge or slide diggs into the snow..
i tryed the same snowboard type. so i build a snowboard and placed two small rails on the base. But you know what happens? as soon as you try to take a curve, the front rail digs into the snow and then you take a spin-over
Hey everyone, im sorry i haven't been here to answer your questions hopefully this should cover most of it. firstly does it turn?, basically you can turn to avoid things and control direction, but its quite rudimentary, but its still a lot more control than a unmodified skateboard you will not be able to carve long turns like a typical snowboards. problems with this design? in deep snow you will find your self riding deep. and there will be a big build up of snow in front of you causing u to fall , stop or not go very fast at all. the shaped belly of the skateboard, causes snow to be pushed out instead of being compressed under the board, this causes drag, and effects the overall speed of travel. we have addressed these issues and are currently making a new video showing you how to do the same. out February
i bet if u glued crazy carpet to bottom 1st and used pex plumbing tube or pvc pipe instead of heavy steel with self tapping screws through the top it would be faster and lighter. 25yrs ago i made them with an old gt snow racer skis and can be mounted on truck base to make a sweet bi deck just like the ones burton came out with 10yr later .soo much fun and with a throw rug or carpet can be used to practice ollie tricks in the house without much noise or destruction.
Took me three hours but I just made one I'm going to North Carolina. ( I live in America ) and it's snowing there so I'm gonna try it out. Thank you so much for this awesome project
can you round off the runners so they are flush with the board or does that make them harder to controle? i just dont like the idea of spikes pokin off the front haha
just made one thanks for the idea. question though, can i do tricks like i can with other snow skates? it's 70 degrees where i'm at right now haha so i have no way of knowing. but i'm talkin like grinds and flip tricks. thanks
@Stebbben u are mistaken we have had no trouble carving it.or stopping, see the videos. theres steelin the snowskate for a reason, thanx for the message
you can actually just take your trucks off if the bottom is not ruined cause i did it years ago and you can turn i only stopped using it cause i was lying at the bottom of a hill and it slid down and hit me in the head. it hurt a lot but it still works perfect just takes a bit of getting used to
Love this! I'm just using a plain old deck just now, don't know how long the snow will last so making the most while I can 😁 wonder if rib bones would have a similar effect?
@chimpofm ok i dont know if i will make one this year becuase the parts are alot of money over here i have a deck and the tools i just need the metal tho
Chimpofm, would it work if i put a little bit flatter metal pipes? i dont have those big one i have flatter ones, would it work? It just started snowing like Hell in Skopje/Europe and it is going BIG!
hell yeh, use anything you can get ur hands on. im using 25mm x 6mm pvc beading thesedays. its big enuff to keep you straight, but small enuff to slide off
What are the dimensions of the runners? I know you said in the video but they do not look 60 mm wide. A reply would be great because I will certainly make one for the snow this winter. Thanks!
Really cool vid, I was thinking of doing this but tried my blank deck first and it worked. Still this would offer way more stability, only reason I'm not doing the mod is so I can still do tricks.
Valid point. You could laminate or coat it to stop this... i still use this snowskate. Despite not treating it in any way. Its only used like twice a year
@chimpofm yer but your not me haha i managed to get myself coverd in boiling wax when i was makin some homemade skate wax. so im sure i will be able to fall on spikes lol but the cork idea sounds good.
@jcbbulloch09 yep eather spend 200 quid or so. or make one of these, its epic fun, it light and easyer to carry and i paid nothing for it. why spend when you can make :) btw our snow edit comes out this friday.
we can turn on these no problem, eather via ticktacking/buttering or is the snow is fluffy enuff you can carve. you can also jump and grind but flip tricks are an issue if you have straps. ive never stab my self on it in the last 4 years, plus now the ends have wooden stoppers. its not much different to what done with a snowboard. we originally did this. coz its more efficiant than a blank deck alone. And we just bomb hills on them. i like it :) try b4 asuming.
in the filming of this video, we were just bombing hills. i will record a new video on the turning aspects. hopefully that will resolve anyones questions,.and straps are a must when riding choppy hills at speed,
Awesome video man the only problem is that I live in australia where there's no snow
+jed windley lucky snow is messing up my seshes
There is snow in Victoria mate.mt buller
This is one of the best tutorials about this topic on RUclips.
hes definetly a stoner
@brummie ive never stabed my self on them , we also use them to get up snowy hlls. we advise you make wooden ''corks'' that fit in the runners that have a rounded points.
This is awesome.
I just made mine, but used 10*10 mm pipes :)
Can't wait to take it for a ride, snow just covered Denmark today!
make one this year!!

Rue25 Raimund Popp is an owner
i tryed the same snowboard type. so i build a snowboard and placed two small rails on the base. But you know what happens? as soon as you try to take a curve, the front rail digs into the snow and then you take a spin-over
Id have to agree with you there. leaning to turn doesn't work. You need to lift up the front end. like a wheely.
Hey everyone, im sorry i haven't been here to answer your questions hopefully this should cover most of it.
firstly does it turn?, basically you can turn to avoid things and control direction, but its quite rudimentary, but its still a lot more control than a unmodified skateboard

@robot4e1234 lol good question, i stop wen the hill stops. u can how ever just turn into the sloap/hill. or slide sideways. i dont like slowing down
Could I do basic tricks on it while moving in the snow? Like ollies and kickflips or pop shuvits?
@chimpofm thanks. also, is it easy to carve/turn with it? and what snow conditions does it work in?
I have a question, will the grip tape handle skating on snow? Just asking, I've heard that it may not last long if wet...
haha okay fair enough. lemme rephrase that. have you done any grinds or flip tricks on that board?
I came across this video randomly and don't even live in a town where it snows in winter, but this looks fun! :D
can you round off the runners so they are flush with the board or does that make them harder to controle? i just dont like the idea of spikes pokin off the front haha
@chimpofm yea thats what i was thinking :/ but do you think if i raised it and put a ski on it would that work?
just made one thanks for the idea. question though, can i do tricks like i can with other snow skates? it's 70 degrees where i'm at right now haha so i have no way of knowing. but i'm talkin like grinds and flip tricks. thanks
Where do you get the pipes from and what are they called? Probably have to go out of state to use it cuz I live in California, but it looks cool.
hey love this vid. what r some other materials you could use besides the metal. pvc? wood?
hey were did u get the box section
from a hardware store... the internet... home depot.. were did u get yours
@Stebbben u are mistaken we have had no trouble carving it.or stopping, see the videos. theres steelin the snowskate for a reason, thanx for the message
Would using tubes work better ? for turning and such i was thinking
Hey dude I need help I took the grip of my board does it matter? Also how do you drill the holes in the bars I got confused at that bit.
im from the uk too, where would you get the 16 by 16 by 1 metal tubes?
Awsome video. Would putting three bars on it make it smoother or harder to ride?
you can actually just take your trucks off if the bottom is not ruined cause i did it years ago and you can turn i only stopped using it cause i was lying at the bottom of a hill and it slid down and hit me in the head. it hurt a lot but it still works perfect just takes a bit of getting used to
what should i use if i havent got a snowboard or a skateboard
Love this! I'm just using a plain old deck just now, don't know how long the snow will last so making the most while I can 😁 wonder if rib bones would have a similar effect?
is it easy with this snowskate to make left right turns?
Wow, gonna make this, thanks dood, what do u do to stop the nails coming out??!?
snow skating is pretty diffiicult compared to just plain skateboarding, i thought it would be a little easier to pick up?
When are u making some more reviews on skateparks
If you didn't put bindings on it, could you do trick on it still?
dude your dreds are sweet as hell have you ever used dreadheadhq stuff or know anything about em?
Would this work like a real snowskate like for tricks
have you tried without the straps??
The idea is fantastic and the video is great but above all I love your hair ♥.♥ . Greetings ^^
@chimpofm does it work with wood runners
Im gonna try it using round metal pipes with dome caps, that might help a little with the turning
@chimpofm ok i dont know if i will make one this year becuase the parts are alot of money over here i have a deck and the tools i just need the metal tho
whats the name of the pipe? box something? I didnt understand...
@chimpofm can i do that with pvc pipes?
@1306skate i personaly can varial kickflip mine, without straps but people do say the curves aint steep enuf on a normal deck,. u decide
in stead of straps why dont you take the grip of and wax the top ?
@1306skate yes if u had the ski. theres a tutorial on google on how to do that
@chimpofm ok whats it called man and thanks so much for the help
Chimpofm, would it work if i put a little bit flatter metal pipes? i dont have those big one i have flatter ones, would it work? It just started snowing like Hell in Skopje/Europe and it is going BIG!

1mm wide
Ok thanks. I've already made the snow skate but it's just my ears that thought he said 60mm! Thanks for the reply anyway.
Aymon Martin He said 16 not 60! :]
Haha thanks :) lol
that thing looks pretty wicked!
@finskate97 yep, bu some come plastic coated. or you could just paint em. i dont bother, the snow cleans off my rust.
Really cool vid, I was thinking of doing this but tried my blank deck first and it worked. Still this would offer way more stability, only reason I'm not doing the mod is so I can still do tricks.
Nice idea, made and tested one just now. Lots of fun 👌
Yes mate!!! I still have mine after all this time. Look after it and ull be passing it down to your kids. Good work
Did you end up being able to trick it at all?
@EpicFlyingDude yep u can cut screw with a saw, but if their long enuff just wack them with a hammer to snap them at the base,
@chimpofm usa ny state im not in new york city tho im 3 hours away from there and im super super excited
fantastic tutorial, i just missed winter this year, but next year without a doubt. also what a funny accent, are you danish
@chimpofm do u think you could make a skenkboard for me if i give you all the stuff? thanks :)
why did you add the straps?
Hey man I’m not sure if u still do RUclips but will I be able to use plywood instead of metal or will the wood get soggy
Valid point. You could laminate or coat it to stop this... i still use this snowskate. Despite not treating it in any way. Its only used like twice a year
does it work on grass
@robot4e1234 yes u can power slide to turn or tick tack turn/ kickturn
what kind of supermoto is that?
@skatercarlo nope long as the runners are on the bottom u can do what u want on top[ of the deck
GENIUS!!! This is badass imma make one this winter B)
how can you stop with it ?
What part of Wales u from I'm from the south
hes from the south listen to his accent.
dude genius!
dope dreads buddy
@pkyle146 u can use anything for runners.pvc tubing, metal or even strips of plywood. get it done :D
cant wait to do this again, this year!!
@maartenenjeroen i wudnt, ive riped bolts out.glue wont last long.
@chimpofm yer but your not me haha i managed to get myself coverd in boiling wax when i was makin some homemade skate wax. so im sure i will be able to fall on spikes lol but the cork idea sounds good.
Will it work on sand? No snow in WA
Only on sand dunes! Was lucky enough to be able to try it once!
Fuck you mean I live in Washington you got to go to the right places maybe just not in your area
We don't get snow in Australia
Marco Di Giorgio idk what WA ur talking about
How are you gonna turn?
the pipe for the snowskate is called box section, 16mm by 16mm by 1mm mild steel box section to be precise.
i have a stupid question. is this the dude thats always hangin with shonduras?
@jhannibal24 yep. works on wet grass all the way up to deep snow
wat metal do u use for the box section??? email me or reply
@jhannibal24 yeh dude almost anything, lolypop sticks, pvc tubing. copper tubing, strips of plywood or plastic. anything thats strong.. smooth and bendable
@jcbbulloch09 yep eather spend 200 quid or so. or make one of these, its epic fun, it light and easyer to carry and i paid nothing for it. why spend when you can make :) btw our snow edit comes out this friday.
does it work without the belts?
Facepalm .
The straps are for your feet not to slip off but I just use to deck with some wax lol I don't put all this stuff on it
What's up with all the hate?! This tutorial is very nice! Totally making it
Looks like a fun thing to make to bad I've never seen snow in my life
U r lucky
what are u taliking about lucky snow is the greatest thing in all time
Are you welsh?
@pkyle146 snow is comming n octobers, and theres gona be alot of it, build one now!
@pkyle146 epic where r u from,are you excited
The tail will be to mellow without trucks and won't pop. Actual snowskates have higher steeper tails for that reason
Does this works better than the ones you buy? :)
Love your dreads, btw!
we can turn on these no problem, eather via ticktacking/buttering or is the snow is fluffy enuff you can carve. you can also jump and grind but flip tricks are an issue if you have straps. ive never stab my self on it in the last 4 years, plus now the ends have wooden stoppers. its not much different to what done with a snowboard. we originally did this. coz its more efficiant than a blank deck alone. @tagsandin yep about a 5er, in the metal section.

Chimpo is too awesome dude
that thing looks lethal
I like your accent. Where are You from?
This is awesome I live in Toronto and use mine slit only prob is it's not FREE MATERIAL
He sais 'next to nothimg to make' which you can also translate into: 'very cheap to make'
Dummy
@bizzurman lol ur thinking to deep here, the only chance of injury is faling off, the new edit is out next week
that you took a nail to connect the strap on skateboard
@SuperOwnagevideos yep, long as their smooth :D
in the filming of this video, we were just bombing hills. i will record a new video on the turning aspects. hopefully that will resolve anyones questions,.and straps are a must when riding choppy hills at speed,
I love it... although im going to do without the straps.. Thanks for uploading!
what is the bar called?
