I would recommend taking off the grip tape. I had grip tape on my snowskate and I found that it clogs with snow and ices over very easily, making it hard to ride. What I did was I stripped off all the grip tape and screwed small screws into the deck, spaced a few inches apart all across the deck, about halfway in so that they stuck up like studs. It provided a much better grip that grip tape and doesn't clog with snow.
the ridges in the middle will help some on going down small hills straight but you need edges on the edges to bite in for turning. and friction issues. looks good though
Never mind. I took all the snow i could find and nade a small track headed torwards my little box/rail. I tried doing a grind and the tape started ripping after 5 times. Also the wood sticks started peeling off, AND I USED HOT GLUE TO PUT THEM ON THE BOARD instead of Elmer's glue
hay a little tip is if you use this wax its like puddy in the tin but you take a rag and scoop a bit on and you spread a thin layer down the board wait til it turns a frothy smokey color you "buff" it out with another rag its smooth as butter in two weeks ill post a video on how to do this.
If you wanna go all out, spend around 50 bucks and get the xtreme grip pac, its like studs that keep your feet locked, not like sandpaper, and then you can ride it with better traction.
@Nico777s coolies. i made wooden runners before.i found them to not go as fast as id liked. so i went with metal runners, now ive got something i can fly down mountains on. oh and Doesnt the duct tape wear off? and then wont you loose lolly sticks? i have lost a metal runner a few times and their bolted on hehe. im gona make a video this year, a battle of the Diy snowskates, illmake them all, and compare them all on youtube,:) il shall also compare this design :)
I need to know how thick the single deck is and how much does it weigh?.I mean, the ones that you get from the store. What is the difference between the 5 and the 7 groove deck, and why do you need them. How deep are they?
I live in Hawaii and during christmas its a blizzard here and I want to go from Snowboarding to skateboarding and transition over, I mean a skateboard already but I want to get into snowskating this year. What I am curious about is why do you guys have to cover the deck in tape, couldn't you just take off the trucks and ride the deck by itself in the snow or does that not work also I could just buy a snowskate but I don't want to since I already have my own skateboarding brand and decks out.Id rather just use one of my own decks.Could I use a regular deck and just wing it?Any tips or info from anyone would be nice.Thanks.
@chimpofm ya it works fine, made one last year but lost it so i made this one and didn't ride this one yet cuz there's no snow yet but last year's was flawless
i would love to help but it does depend on the question and the level of industrial design because ive only taken that class one semester in freshman year
I made a few snowskates, i actually drilled in 2 , thin but thick metal pieces where these two put the popsicle sticks. i also bent the metal at the dips of the nose and tail so it would be on the nose and tail too. Its pretty much putting sleds on a skateboard deck, think of it that way. the screws went through the board but i broke them off. i also screwed in about 6 screws on the griptape side for more grip, this works very well but you gotta break the screws off on the opposite side so there are no sharp points sticking out. its easy and quick. i recommend this for anyone who wants to make a snowskate on a budget, luckily i had everything i needed to make one, but i found an ambition online for like 90 bucks so im gonna get that soon lol hope this helped out to you and anyone else that reads this
hey! im an industrial design student and i wonder if you could help me with my project of this semester.. i dont know a lot about snowskate and i could really use you help
Other ways these tutorials are good but when you use the snowskate the pop is going to be so fucking tiny if you dont do anything for the edges to be more curved...

using the craft sticks as runners is a really good idea
I tried it.. It did work if u wax the duct tape
i hade 2 snowskates because of this awesome video
The popsicle sticks are a good idea. I was trying to figure solution along that lines for myself right now.
looks good and nice g shock
Very nice guys. Looks really good. Video was impressive. How does it ride?
At that tuck tape would work great. That's what I'm going to try.

@SirNick406 it rides like any other i bought, but cheaper. u can also add rub on snowboard wax for speed.

@jhannibal24 no u cant carve really but you can use it in most conditions. smooth soft snow is the best
thank you so so very much
im making mine right now

Good idea!!
would it work better if u doubled up on the crafts sticks

@chimpofm ya it works fine, made one last year but lost it so i made this one and didn't ride this one yet cuz there's no snow yet but last year's was flawless

I have one question, when you slide tape falling off
gotta eat a lot of icecream
where did you guys get the stickers?
i would love to help but it does depend on the question and the level of industrial design because ive only taken that class one semester in freshman year
thanks so much i made one while watching this video. cani use snowboard wax on it or not.

That looks preaty sick but duct tape doesnt slide in the snow
You shoulda goten a clear plastic layer, and epoxied it over that, then wax the plastic
Why two different energy companies on your board? You could of put anything you can think of but you put companies lol
To keep it from sliding side to side
hey! im an industrial design student and i wonder if you could help me with my project of this semester.. i dont know a lot about snowskate and i could really use you help
Hey are you an industrial designer now?
i have made this today now waiting for the snow
