Although the deer was “still warm,” the stench could have come from it. I’ve field dressed enough deer to know that some *reek* when opened up, and if the deer in the story was “torn in half” as stated, there could easily be stomach or intestine contents strewn about which would of course be absolutely rank. Just a simple consideration. Great stuff!
That's a good point. Well, something knocked down a healthy pine, tore the deer in half and carried it along to their camp area, following & watching the group. Maybe bigfoot stink like this from putting the dead animals on their shoulders?
@@KyDove8 That's true! And since he mentions the stench later as well, it probably wasn't coming from the deer. I just wanted people to know that freshly d.e.a.d. animals also stink sometimes haha. No biggie
@@idid138 Haha this is a good theory. but yeah, I'm not necessarily saying that the stench *was* coming from the deer, I'm just saying it could have been when we first found it. That said, in this story, the stench seems to *not* have been from the deer since it came up later too

Good Evening Chris, back when I was younger, my grandpa and I used to camp in the Okanagan Wenatchee National Forest. We had heard different noises at night back then, I always felt safe with him. My grandpa used to tell us kids stories about how he used to see unusual 😮 animals in the forests, he said that they just want to be left alone, being in their domain. He told us that never cross into someone's territory. I feel for these kids, to have something that close to their camp, glad they were safe.
Thanx Chris, I really liked this one. With the interview, it clarified known behavior I've become familiar with studying. People who don't know each other, never met, always describe consistent behavior.
A great way to round out a hot summer day in the mountains , , , is to listen to a fellow outdoorsman sitting in camp sharing a good story with fellow hikers,,,, thanks Chris

Found your posts about 3 weeks ago and I’ve been listening since then. Love your stories. I believe in big foot, would never want to meet one. Thanks for telling your stories that even a 74 yr old woman can listen to and enjoy.
Chris, I love the stories! Yes, if the forest suddenly goes dead silent--not a good sign! Get the heck out! This IS one thing we noticed in our encounters too. In our Mt. Hood National Forest encounter we were at a newly discovered lake, now called Lost Lake. There was lots of nature noises--however--when we encountered the family of Big Foot--the forest had suddenly gone silent. In our sheer terror--we did not notice this ourselves. It was my mother who remembered this--she commented on how everything had gone suddenly dead silent--it creeped her out. Then Dad noticed it too. This one thing, and then four crying scared, freaked children--finally put some fire in them to pack up the car and get going! In our encounters in the Coastal Rain Forest area--we four kids marveled at how silent the area was, no bird sounds, even. We were from the noisy city. WE craved the calm and quiet. So we really enjoyed the serenity of the woods and the quietness. It would only be much later on in our adulthood(s) that we would recognize this as a sign of why this area was restricted. In the camping area, the forest was alive with sound--but step into this section of the State Park--it grew oddly silent. Bend trees, and mediium sized to large up ended trees knocked over with roots showing--good evidence of a large creature knocking them over--we had no clue. We were just children. The only noise was the wood knocking, which my brothers would answer in kind. ONLY ONCE did we hear "whoop whoop" and all of us whoop whoop back and laughed. Never realizing with what we were engaging. ONLY later in life did we realize. It was our secret play ground. WE unintentionally fed our friend--who left us gifts. Which we later realized is called gifting. We accidentally did all the right things to befriend this thing, coming twice a year--this thing never hurt us. Never physically showed itself to us, but certainly knocked to us as soon as we showed up the very first day in it's territory. A series of knocks, my brothers could imitate easily back. Those same rhytm of knocks would echo back. It was like a signal, "Hi we are here friend, and it was a sign of welcome to us--ah, you are back and all is well." WE left the customary picnic lunch in a paper bag on the stump, left in it's place would be the customary rock. WE would never wait and spy to see who would come either. WE just did not do that Chris. We went off to play in our area, and hike and go check out the view of the coastline. IT was a high up place about 500 yards or more above the camping grounds. Any way, all of your stories continually remind me of little tidbits of memories I have forgotten, and then realize, "oh yeah" I remember that too. So I really enjoy your channel. Thanks so much!! Blessings to you from Oregon.

Greetings from England! I just found your channel and I love it, you tell a great story. It puzzles me how these creatures avoid any real detection because all of these people cannot be lying, there has got to be something out there... I have to say though, you really do have balls of steel to be able to recount these stories, in the woods, in the dark... I wouldn't dare 🤣
That was a great encounter story/interview . I've camped in that area and back in the day you wouldn't see any people there . . . ever . That whole Mammoth Mt. - Area has been a bigfoot hotspot forever , Laurel Canyon , Lake Mary , the Horseshoe trail , etc. There was a scary encounter at The Devils Postpile which is about ten miles west from Lake Valentine , a couple was chased out of the area and had rocks and tree branches thrown at them the husband said a branch the size of a 2 liter bottle of soda just missed his head by inches . The couples story was on one of those Cryptid - Ufo channels a few years ago the main story was about UFO's being seen near Mono Lake . Be safe out there Base Camp Chris . . . remember the bigfoot fear the camera more than the gun . Peace
Back in the 70s and early 80s even the town of Mammoth was a ghost town and now unfortunately it’s overpopulated. Every place you’ve mentioned I’ve been to because of the camp that we used to go to. We used to go down to a place called rainbow Falls, it was beautiful.
Just love the sound effects you put into your stories! Glad you're hearing sounds in woods cuz folks say when Bigfoots around its silent Thanks for sharing with us Happy camping 😊
This story was great! Spooky as all get out but I am totally interested and fascinated!! Even though I love nature and the outdoors, I couldn't never be brave enough to camp or walk through the wilderness. Perhaps one day a Bigfoot will show himself. I still believe that they aren't violent except perhaps being provoked or threatened. I love your stories Chris . Whenever you are in front of your tent , I always think Bigfoot will come behind you and whisk you away!!! 😂 just kidding of course. ! Stay safe and keep hiking! Ps. Beautiful shots of the scenery. Anticipating another great story!! ❤
What a beautiful landscape to hike anytime you want! Hikings good around my area this time of year but you better have your bug spray and you surely better be on the lookout for snakes! Great vid... Keep hiking 🥾
Yet again it seems that the sasquach meant no harm, it just wanted its privacy and to collect its kill. In all of these stories, although the sasquach may try to drive the person/people out of its area, they don't seem to use violence. Intimidation maybe, but not direct violence. If they wanted to kill people, they could do so easily. Of course maybe unexplained disappearances could be explained by sasquach who go further than intimidation, but there is no proof of that. I'm inclined to think they are curious and thinking creatures (even though they could do with deodorant).
There are many stories of them killing. Just like people, there are good ones, there are bad ones. American Indians have many stories of them killing their men, and stealing their women and children.
There has been cases where some are Aggressive and attack and do damage to people's homes or vehicles, etc... Some have even killed people's dogs. They are very dangerous. The Military n Police have had to actually confront and dispatch them before. They just don't publicize it to prevent mass panic/ hysteria.
Yes...they could of easily disposed of this group...but tend to be curious or let there presence known to cause some fear...a mountain lion would be silent up to the moment of attack...c
I Agree Chris. They just want to be left alone. My encounter years ago, let me know this. Simple explanation. It changed my life. Don't go looking for them.
Ohhh, I love the Camp Name!!! I really love the Movie, Friday The 13 th !!!!! Its one of my top, all time most favorite Movies. I love the setting so much !!!!
My late husband and I went camping up At Eleanor Lake above Naramata BC. ….high up on the top of the mountain. there were fallen trees ON THE ROAD, we had to clear to get up there . At about 1:am, something, smelling awful walked around and around our tent for hours; kind of a message to LEAVE. WE rolled up our tent and left as soon as it got light; we never went back.
I wonder if his friend has learned BF are also in Colorado. Chris I loved the still photos you posted while he was talking. Beautiful shots I have never seen before. ❤
Ya know Chris , I listen to lots and lots of story tellers on YT and absolutely love the scary stories but I really feel like you are the best at doing it ! The only issue I have is I listen to them faster than you can create them lol. Keep doing what you do and thank you.

I used to live in Mammoth lakes back in the 80s. Best times ever!!! Felt so alive and invigorating. Been up at Sherwin Lakes fishing for Golden trout. Beautiful place. They are mostly Golden Trout and Brookies up at the higher altitude lakes, (Valentine/Sherwin).
Hi Chris, here’s an idea for some BCC swag…. aka: how to get more than 10 cents for that beer can return: if you signed/ dated/ episode numbered the single empty beer can / bottle from your videos with one of those special fade resistant Industrial -Grade “Sharpie Extreme” markers, there just might be some folks in the BCC community that would like to purchase those one of a kind ‘Keep Hiking’ mementos… just a thought…it’s either a terrible idea or a great one…or both !
Hi y'all!! After watching Chris' videos for a couple weeks I finally got out there for the first time in maybe 6 years!! No camping, but I walked 22 miles today! The furthest I could go as an adult after having my daughter and gaining some was 12 miles, then I fell and hurt my hip and hadn't really tried since. But I've lost about 45lbs since then and we walk 3-6 miles a couple times a week, so I figured we'd give it a shot and try to reach the national forest picnic grounds. And we did! I got the classic sunburn on my face, but we didn't run out of water, I kept my daughter fed and she said she felt fine and did great! We took some breaks obviously, but it was about 8 hours of walking. No difficult hiking, just following the road. I did see a huge snake, but it was asleep and didn't try to eat me 😅 Our next goal, after some practice and we've gotten stronger, we want to try to reach the camp grounds that are about 3 miles further. But I'm kind of proud of us, 1 mild sun burn and 2 blisters between the both of us and a whole lot of miles. For us anyway. We did meet some backpackers that said they're going from Mexico up to Canada!! We just went for a picnic, lol. I hope everyone else was able to enjoy the outdoors in some way this weekend, even if it's watching through the living room window or videos like Chris' 💜 And wow, two stories today and both so scary.
Good video, it's weird to me that as many of these "encounters" or whatever no one has ever run across a den or shelter or something that they might live in. Not saying I don't believe the stories it just seems odd that all across the country people have these encounters and no one ever sees a home.
They don't even need that, they are nocturnal. Fun fact, during the Korean War, 120,000 chinese soldiers crossed the Yalu River undetected and began assaulting Marine positions. It is not hard to go undetected when you are a nocturnal creature

Canyon , Lake Mary , the Horseshoe trail , etc.
Always enjoy your stories. Grew up in lake Tahoe. And Always enjoyed the wilderness. Keep up the great story telling.
Good to hear !! C
Just love the sound effects you put into your stories! Glad you're hearing sounds in woods cuz folks say when Bigfoots around its silent Thanks for sharing with us Happy camping 😊
Thanks 👍c
I really enjoyed this video, especially the “bonus” story at the end of the interview! This is a great channel in general!
I absolutely love listening to the interview as I watch you cook!😍👍
Great story Chris and you tell them so well. Thank you!😂
So Welcome Sue...Appreciate the support! Chris
Happy Sunday!
Great story Chris and a beautiful spot wherever you are camping at! How are the mosquitos?? They scare me more than Mt Squatch himself!
I had 2 Mosquitos...both landed on my face while filming....biting too. Then cut/ swat/ film again...C
You’re the best Chris
Thank you gentlemen for this great story. Always enjoy your work Chris. Thank you.
Thanks for the story. My husband and I look forward to your Sunday story. We listen togrther
Great story, thanks for sharing! What were the twinkling lights in the background over your left shoulder? I’m dying to know!
Pretty interesting story! Thanks for sharing, Chris!
I look forward to your stories Chris, your story telling is off the chain ( good ) lol.. Be safe out there sir. 🇺🇲
What a beautiful landscape to hike anytime you want! Hikings good around my area this time of year but you better have your bug spray and you surely better be on the lookout for snakes! Great vid... Keep hiking 🥾
Love today's episode.
Another fantastic story! Keep hiking, everyone!
Thank you Chris I love what you do brother ! ☺♥ Thank you for the video! 🤩👍❤
I enjoyed this story
The little sound effects Chris adds to these makes it feel like you are there lol
Good story! The views where you cooked your meal, were absolutely beautiful! I loved that big root tree.
I agree with you bigfoot means no harm just treat like a other person but nice way not yelling or anything else
Thank you David for sharing your story and thank you Chris for narrating in such a skillful, appealing way.
I always save my beer for your show. Cheers
Ohhh, I love the Camp Name!!! I really love the Movie, Friday The 13 th !!!!! Its one of my top, all time most favorite Movies. I love the setting so much !!!!
You are Chris, you are a great story teller. Thank you!
I appreciate that!
Nothing is better than listening to you in front of a roaring fire.
Absolutely love the beer names
So clever.
Looking forward to a great story
To make my day....7 am ;-)
Oh good heavens !
Excellent phone interview !!!
Thank you Dorian - Appreciate it!! Chris
By the time you figure out if it's harmless....it's too late!!!!! Yikes!!!!

Thank you Chris 💪🏻❤️
Ya know Chris , I listen to lots and lots of story tellers on YT and absolutely love the scary stories but I really feel like you are the best at doing it ! The only issue I have is I listen to them faster than you can create them lol. Keep doing what you do and thank you.
Thanks for listening! Chris
I look forward to the new episode! You are a great storyteller! I’m especially loving the interviews too! Keep giving us these great stories of real life experiences with the unknown creatures of the lands 😊
The 'sun going down fast' videos are my favourite 😃
Dropped like a rock...frogs and crickets hung with me though!! C
Awesome Ken...I'll have to make the trip with my fly-rod...C

Creepy adventures in paradise
Hi Chris, here’s an idea for some BCC swag…. aka: how to get more than 10 cents for that beer can return:
if you signed/ dated/ episode numbered the single empty beer can / bottle from your videos with one of those special fade resistant Industrial -Grade “Sharpie Extreme” markers,
there just might be some folks in the BCC community that would like to purchase those one of a kind
‘Keep Hiking’ mementos…
just a thought…it’s either a terrible idea or a great one…or both !
Wow - just found your page - LOVE it ! You are a great story teller - very creepy stories ! Keep them coming and congratulations on hitting 100,000 !
I did see a huge snake, but it was asleep and didn't try to eat me 😅
Our next goal, after some practice and we've gotten stronger, we want to try to reach the camp grounds that are about 3 miles further. But I'm kind of proud of us, 1 mild sun burn and 2 blisters between the both of us and a whole lot of miles. For us anyway. We did meet some backpackers that said they're going from Mexico up to Canada!! We just went for a picnic, lol. I hope everyone else was able to enjoy the outdoors in some way this weekend, even if it's watching through the living room window or videos like Chris' 💜
And wow, two stories today and both so scary.
Nice job Veganvixen!! Keep Hiking… actually you already are.!!
@@basecampchris Trying to! 😁
Great story!
Good to hear - Thanks Jahzel! C
Great Video especially the contrast of video with the tent, lamps, and evening sky.
Awesome
Thank you twobytoo! C
Good video, it's weird to me that as many of these "encounters" or whatever no one has ever run across a den or shelter or something that they might live in. Not saying I don't believe the stories it just seems odd that all across the country people have these encounters and no one ever sees a home.
Thank you Chris💚 has anyone an idea WHERE are living these creatures??? There must be HUGE caves, Tunnelssystems under the earth 😮
They don't even need that, they are nocturnal. Fun fact, during the Korean War, 120,000 chinese soldiers crossed the Yalu River undetected and began assaulting Marine positions. It is not hard to go undetected when you are a nocturnal creature
What a great view you had while cooking and having lunch. I am jealous.
Yes...over looking the river. Thanks...C
I'd love to hear what elevation you're at during your intros.
Thank you for your videos😊
