- My Digitech RP1000 died so I replaced it with the Line6 M13...it cost just €130 and still in the box...I had one q
10 years ago and I still think it's the best buy in guitar FX there is... even the drives are useful, delays, reverbs, chorus, phasers, flangers, harmony, ... even if you just need a tuner, looper and noise gate, it's cheap ...get one..
owning one of these has saved me a fortune in pedals. Especially those one shot embellishments used for a part of one song. I recommend them to people all the time ; to try effects types you wouldn't otherwise try (or in some cases even know about).
to have a more hands on & immediate experience than a helix one, for less money.
to massively kerb your gear acquisition syndrome.
to stimulate song ideas you would not have otherwise had.
There are professional recordings out there with chart success , using these.
They were a fixture in recording studios, it's really not "crap" even all this time later. Other multi effects from the same period have dated, this has hardly done so at all, speaking of which.
It has flaws for sure; there are certainly better reverbs out there (now), analogue distortions/overdrives have more nuance, it's from the time before cab sims.
But for all those flaws it's still worth it for all the money you saved, and all the inspiration you got, and having a bucket load of options just one step shy of option paralysis.

Absolutely, I think for live use, it's tough to beat.
I bought one back in 2012. I still have it. I still love it. But I have had my eye on a helix for a few years now.
I looked at the hx FX but not the full helix, as a spare backup I've got a Firehawk, it's ok into a PA direct and a lot of FX are the same as on m13 , there's just so much on most of not all multi FX/modellers I don't use. It depends if you like a lot of FX.
@@Fergieguitar same here but I keep trying to convince myself if I had that stuff, I would use it. The real thing holding me back is the amp modeling. Honestly, what is the point of that stuff unless you’re eventually going to replace your amp with a frfr speaker? The thought of having an all in one floor unit and a speaker vs a multi-effects pedal and an amp is intriguing but I can’t seem to commit to.
The real kicker is that I play bass too, so going in that direction I could have one setup for both instruments and not need my guitar or bass amp. One setup to rule them all.
@@noodlemans you could always look at a preamp pedal similar to the amp you use, like a TC ampworks, the new Boss IR-2..even if used as a backup to the amp. Plug in the M13 as you would to the amp ... You could also use it alongside the amp, take a line out from the M13 into whatever preamp with amp Sim pedal you choose direct to the desk for front of house
I use a m13 with a PodGo. totally worth it and you don't eat up all your DSP trying to make super ambient sounds

Hi, thanks for subbing so early on, I hope the videos are getting better. No the M13 is just FX like a big pedalboard, no cab or speaker emulation at all , the Line 6 HD500 and the Firehawk FX are using a lot of the same FX as the M13 and they have speaker and cab sims, some are really really good, the mic placement options are limited on the firehawk but still ok. YOu can get those cheap

Btw, mine was a bit different than yours. Had 2 Seymour D. and an Ibanez bridge.
(Now the neck is on a Cigar box guitar, with the single coil from the Ergodyne and one potentiometer, the neck p.u. is on a Dean and the other humbucker is on another Dean, hehe !
So the neck has just 4 machine heads. And missing the screws etc, of the neck and on the clamps. The body is dirty as fuck.
But I believe that with a lot of passion and patience, and maybe a bit of money I should redo the old blue glory flying.
Btw, the material is almost white, and was painted blue, since you wondered about.
Has been in high (very high) humidity and has not given a shit about it, so is a nice material.)

Yes it has a tuner and can be set from 425 to 455hz so all good.

Does it have a harmonizer?
Yes it has smart harmony, pitch and whammy(if you add an expression pedal)
