TheToolnut Howdy and Thank you. We are in western Arkansas. God bless y’all
@@TheBeardedCarpenter Outstanding Sir, what kind of trees do you have in that fine State? 🌲🇺🇸🇮🇪
TheToolnut Around here we have quite a variety of trees. We have lots of southern yellow pine ( which is what I ‘m building with) post oak, red oak, red cedar, elm, ash, to name a few. Blessings
Hi
What are the dimensions of lumber?
Howdy- the wall logs are sawn 6” thick. They are left with the live edge so they vary in height from the tip( small end) to the butt( big end). Thank you for watching the video. God bless
@@TheBeardedCarpenter Hello Thank you for your reply.
According to the conversion to mm, it is based on a thickness of about 152 mm
And the approximate height is how many mm?
👍👍👍👍👍10
Sancler Tojal Howdy- Thank you so much! God bless you
hey brother, why do you put score marks on the logs?
Howdy Boris- it mostly for aesthetics. The old log buildings were hand hewed logs and they would score the logs to make it easier when hewing with a broad axe. Thank you so much for watching the video. God bless you
@@TheBeardedCarpenter aah why score marks make hewing easier?
@@boriserjavec6470 It severs the wood fibers and makes it easier for the broad axe to slice down the side of the log.
I didn't know ZZ Top switch to carpentry.
wormeaten Howdy- Yeah, we had to diversify with all this stuff goin on hehe. Seriously, l do appreciate you watching. God be with you

The Bearded Carpenter, that is so very kind of you. Thank you
Some timelapse would be nice Grandpa. You ain't got long and I dont have all night to watch you mosey on down the lane.
small log, why don't you build a little bit larger log cabin
Hoang Pham Howdy- I’m on a pretty tight budget with this build. I will be putting a loft in it which will give us more floor area. Thank you for watching. May God bless you
The Bearded Carpenter the reason I ask , strong foundation, big log, strong sub floor
Hoang Pham I always try to put in a good foundation to hold everything up. I start with the biggest logs first and progressively use the next smaller size as I build the walls. Take care and blessings to you
are you guys hiring?
Howdy Anthony- I pretty much work by myself. I would like to do some work shops in the future if I can get the logistics worked out. Where are you located? God bless
@@TheBeardedCarpenter oh that would be cool. I am in Toledo OH
