The plot of the movie was that the car was super modern, and they just couldn't shift back nor break
@@panzeelecreusois6357 then turn it off... every modern car allows you to turn it off reguardless of gear. This has happeded to people before where the electronic throttle gets stuck open and the brakes arent able to stop them.
Well if it’s only the brakes that are broke then leaving it in gear is better so the gearing slows it down

jammed open forcing you to accelerate.
Call me a redditor but cruise control doesn't work like that
@@commandercuda that's another good explanation, the cruse control failing can work for newer cars with computers and the carburetor can be the explanation for older cars.

So for those who don’t know there were several real world instances like these with much different outcomes… cars were recalled across several manufacturers because of it and a lot of people died… it came from when people were preparing to brake and double pumped the brakes, the second pump cancelled the first and no matter how hard you pushed the brakes did not engage so they continued at speed until they hit something or wrecked…
You could just have a car go infront and slow down as the other car is hitting it from the back
They could have used a grappler it uses tow cables to wrap around the tire and stop it(used on criminals but could help in this)
At that speed grappler would have caused a major wreck

My father told me the best way to stop your car after brake failure is to shift into lower gears regardless of transmission. Automatics have a manual mode or manual gear selector and you must lower it until slow enough to use the E brake. Manuals you can just clutch it or shift into lower gears

6 it’s the most dangerous way try to open the trunk in some cars the wind is enough to broke the lock and it jumped open in best case falls of then get a bing thing like a bag and try to jammed it in the belt on the engine

My dad had a 2006 Dodge ram that had a glitch in the cruise control where if it was engaged, it would cause the engine to red line until it was disengaged. Lucky to have that control over it 💀

If your brakes are gone and you drive a manual press the clutch down, an automatic shift to neutral and use the hand brake

If its a manual go into hard shoulder, hazards on and then clutch down. drop the gears by 1 or 2 , let engine breaking help qnd repeat. Once you hit first gear let the car take itself to a safe and convenient place then clutch down let it role and then hand break on. Engine off and well if the key doesn't work. Put thd car in a higher gear with the hand break snd stall it

You know you could also just put the car into a spin or into a slide or if you’re coming into a turn get as close to guard rails you can, and just ride the guard rail. It’ll slow you down because of friction or put it into a guard rail and deal with the neck injury but you know whatever.
