  • Chapei Dang Veng is a popular musical tradition in Cambodian society. The tradition takes its name from the long-necked lute (Chapei) that accompanies a specific form of singing. Chapei is closely interwoven with the life and traditional customs and beliefs of the Khmer people. Chapei is used as a social medium, often in the form of impromptu satire, very much appreciated by and associated with the common people.
Chapei Dang Veng was inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding on 30 November 2016.
