- For my first music reaction on this channel I'm doing Hi Ren by Ren. I've seen this everywhere in the last few weeks and thought it would be perfect for my first reaction and WOW. Absolutely mind blowing talent by @RenMakesMusic . Never heard anything like this in my life and it's so hard to articulate feelings.
Thank God for the internet and giving people a voice and a platform.
Now I need to check his other stuff.

*Ren Erin Gill (born 29 March 1990), known professionally as Ren, is a Welsh musician, singer-songwriter, rapper, poet, producer, busker, and multi-instrumentalist. He was a member of the indie hip-hop band Trick The Fox and The Big Push, a British busking band based in Brighton. He has collaborated with Sam Tompkins, Eden Nash, and CHINCHILLA and supported Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly on tour.
Ren is an independent artist. In 2022, Ren released "Hi Ren". The video went viral and appeared in both the United Kingdom and Worldwide Trending Music Video Charts on RUclips, and had 6.8 million views in two months. The next three songs Ren released, "Sick Boi", "Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve Retake)", and Illest of Our Time, also appeared in the United Kingdom's Trending Music Video Chart on RUclips. Ren was invited to play at Glastonbury 2023, film festivals, and other major UK summer music festivals.

Ren reaches every emotion, that every human goes through. Life's not easy, life's hard. I've battled chronic illness for years and feel more understood by listening to Ren, than I have any medical person. ❤ Definately listen to Jenny, Screech & Violet, but he's an amazing rapper too, try Hunger, Genesis xx Its hard to listen to anyone else after Ren. 😊
i played video for my mens peer support group and it took a ong silence befire anyone could talk then the openss of the conversation was very deep. this lads done the world a service.
Yes, I showed it to staff at a day program I go to. One staff wants to do a group class using this and some of his other songs to start dialogue on really tough issues. I am so excited about it. Ren will help heal us! I truely believe that.

We've seen it and heard it a few times before in niche artists but never done this well or broad, he takes it to the heights of the battle of good and evil and meets it with the duality of man, using himself as the center point. Regardless of it been done before or if the multilayered themes are by design or not, it's artistic genius. Can't wait to see where Ren will take himself and his talent in the next few years.

I’ve had those voices during crippling bouts of physical and mental illness and I’ve had them in everyday living. The everyday living ones for me are when Ren sings about that voice being there to “manage expectations” and “provide perspective.” At different times I’ve thought of that voice as common sense, but it’s also held me back, helped me rationalize not taking chances. Great reaction! New sub from the Midwest of US.
It would be a different world if people listened to that voice a little less and were more willing to take risks and fail.

Yes - those voices that feed cripplingly insecurities is right. Your reaction was spot on. Hi Ren is the most honest piece of art I think I've ever seen, heard, experienced. For me, Ren has touched that part of our being that is so vulnerable we don't want anyone to know it. And then he goes and says it's okay.

It is incredible the impact of this video, this song. So many emotions stirred up all at once. What gets me every time I hear this song, I know how the song made me feel, like a real, very real experience. Then I realize, it was all from one guy, just vocals and a guitar, and two lamps that would flicker here and there. There's not even drums, he does that on guitar as he plays. That is real talent for one guy to cause such an experience....

I love watching Hi Ren reactions so much. It is really a breath of fresh air in a world that is downing in divisive and hateful rhetoric. He has done such an amazing job of boiling down the human condition to something that every human can relate to. So powerful.

Here is some additional information on Ren's story that I gathered from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Erin Gill is a British musician/independent artist; born in Wales on March 29, 1990; he eventually moved to Brighton. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony.
Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure.
Ren is currently in Calgary, Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023) undergoing IV and other interventions five days a week. Ren recently underwent wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery. In addition, his Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Now, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition.
Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel, if you are a content creator, ask your audience to subscribe to Ren. Listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to the world, and his work is important in these troubling times. For great storytelling, "The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)." This is a 3-part video that is absolutely incredible. For some real vocal show-off time, catch Ren in the band "The Big Push" singing a mashup of "I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip-Hop." There are a couple different version and you want the one where he's wearing red suspenders - it shows incredible vocal range and different styles of music all in one performance. I am addicted to Ren's music!

I’m about 3 months in to having found Ren and have not listened or watch much else since. He evokes all the feelings you mentioned. Every time I watch Hi Ren it makes me feel a different way each time. Thanks for your honesty about your insecurities when you were younger- that struck a chord with me and may be one of the major reasons I connected to this song immediately. No problem, I suffer for the past 14 years with psychosis and various ailments only on 56 tablets daily or 21 different medications but I always remember that some people have it harder, stay you, stay real, stay loved🤯👀🤯
