(SPOILER WARNINGS AHEAD FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT FINISHED THE BOOK) This was my first time delving into the romantasy genre, and I agree with a lot of your assessments! I also felt kind of confused about how the author basically glossed over Genevieve’s time in Phantasma. To me, her reappearance felt shallow, and her decent performance in the levels was written off merely by her being the child of a Spectre. I guess I was really disappointed that their reunion wasn’t better fleshed out, and I was also disappointed by the rushed nature of the ending. I’d give it 3 stars myself, the premise was interesting and the story was enough to keep me reading. I wouldn’t classify it as one of my favorite books, but I enjoyed it for what it was.
I agree! I honestly thought at first that the reunion was an illusion and that it wasn’t the real Genevieve and was disappointed she just peaced out after that
