I needed this pep talk. I quit art college 20 years ago, because I didn't have much support and was constantly told how big of a waste of time and money it was. But now I know I don't even need that degree. I've FINALLY picked up my brushes again, and teaching myself watercolors on my dining room table 🤣 thank you so much for this encouragement, sweet sister. May all of your beautiful dreams manifest this year! ❤

Thank you! I'm 60 years old and just recently started watercolor painting. I dabbled in acrylics but it seemed like it was more technical than heart felt. With watercolor I feel passion. Things make sense! I've been doing watercolor for 3 weeks and have had more joy than I ever thought I could imagine. My prayer is that my talent with watercolor will bless others, bring them joy and peace. My prayer is to honor God through every stroke of my brush. Thank you for joining the RUclips family and many blessings for your channel and family.

In highschool my art teacher said I should pursue a carreer in commercials and art. I was to afraid of the deadlines I would have to work with. I thought I would have to come up with commercials on a deadline and I wanted to do my art in my way. My dad was an oil painter so I guess it’s in my dna 😅. I married, had a child and the art had to make place for daily routine and work. Years went by. Then I got to a onestroke paint workshop and went into scrapbooking, when I was living in Utah for only five years (had to go back to my home country. Yes you have someone in Belgium subscribe to your channel 😊). But life went on and work was what filled my days. But that painting keeps me a wake at night. I did knitting, crochet, but no painting. Three years ago I quit my nursing to start a business. Bodycasting and photography on the side. The bodycasting was no succes, but the photography did grow. Unfortunately it has cost me a lot to have a studio rented and I have to step down from it now to become financially healthy again. I am now growing towards the point where I realize I have to go after my gutfeeling of creating, in photography but also in painting and crafting things. My creative ideas are just exploding (so have to keep that in check). Thank you for sharing your journey! I know I am not the only one strugling, but it is nice to hear how someone else is experiencing that creative itch. Unfortunately I did not get any art classes (that would help me with inspiration) and that would have helped me develop my talent. But hey, I start all over and am inspired and encouraged by your video! Thank you!

Abby, honestly, what an inspiration. I saw myself in this video. I don't have kids yet, though. But Im 36 and it's been 1 year that I have started to pursuit my art life, having to work a side job to make ends meet (thank God I love my other job) and painting and studying whenever I have the time. I feel 2025 will be even better than last year and I hope to grow little by little each and every step I take. I loved the calm way you talk and your content and art, can't wait to watch more videos from you. It's beautiful to go after what we love, to make the life we want for ourselves and to be kind to people along the way. I hope you and your family have a great year.

this is just my opinion, but I believe that artistic people have a really hard time being confined to one space for a certain amount of hours a day knowing that they have to clock in and be there. It's really difficult. I worked for a long time at a high school in one of the principal's offices as a secretary and I really loved it, I loved the students and the people I worked with. Back in the mail room there was this beautiful painting that I would always stop and look at, I decided to try my hand at watercolor at the age of 55 and I absolutely fall in love with it and I would sit at my desk just dreaming about taking an easel outside and painting what I saw in nature and there came a point when I told my husband that I just couldn't be confined anymore I was starting to feel trapped. I retired early and never regretted my decision! So I wish you well and I'm so glad that I found you!!

I'll be 66 in a couple of weeks. As a child I wanted to be an illustrator but I grew up in a era where you became a nurse or a teacher until you married and started your family. I worked, married and then became a divorced single mother. I worked many years as a psychiatric case worker. I then returned to college and studied studio art and became a mosaicist, while still holding my psych job. I also was a jewelry artist and knitter and taught craft at the high school level. Yes, teaching and all the administration work was NOT for me. I retired at 55 due to some health issues and started writing a fictional series while traveling and living in three different countries. I was sidetracked last year with the desire to write a few childrens books. While looking for illustrators those images of me as a child clearly stating "I'm going to be an artist" resurfaced. I thought why not illustrate my own books? So my goal this year is to do just that while moving to my fourth country. 😉 🎨🖌️🧳
