As we celebrate the Feast of the Sto. Niño today, we are reminded of the importance of humility, a virtue that is closely associated with the image of the Holy Child Jesus. In today's Catholic Bible Reflections, we reflect on the words of Jesus in Matthew 18:3, where He says, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
What does Jesus mean when He tells us to be humble like a child? Firstly, children are innocent and pure in heart. They have not yet been corrupted by the world and its values. As adults, we can learn from their simplicity and trust in God's goodness. Secondly, children are dependent and vulnerable. They rely on their parents for their needs and protection. In the same way, we should recognize our own dependence on God and trust in His providence. Thirdly, children are teachable and open to learning. They have a thirst for knowledge and a desire to grow. As adults, we can cultivate this childlike spirit by being eager to learn from God's Word and from others around us.
Let us strive to be humble like children today and every day, as we honor the Holy Child Jesus on this Feast of the Sto. Niño. May His example inspire us to be innocent, dependent, and teachable in our faith journey.

In Matthew chapter19, verse14, Jesus says, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Children are inherently humble because they have not yet learned to be prideful or self-centered. They trust and rely on their parents and caregivers, and they are content with simple pleasures. As adults, we can learn from this childlike humility by acknowledging our dependence on God and others, and by being grateful for the blessings in our lives. Let us strive to be more humble, like a child, and allow Jesus Christ to guide us towards a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Happy Feast of the Sto. Niño!
